2. Objectives
 Providing a platform for the children, both from formal
school system as well as from out of school to exhibit
their creativity and innovativeness and more particularly
their ability to solve a societal problem using the method
of science.
 To help children think of some societal problem, ponder
over its causes and solve the same using the scientific
process.
 To help children learn Science with the environment
around
 Promoting the methods of Science and inculcating
scientific aptitude among students
 To catalyze curiosity, spirit of enquiry, team work and
inquisitiveness

3. Dubai Science Congress -
Structure
Stage 1.Registration
 Registration of teams consisting of 5-10
students (age group 12-17 years)from
schools
Stage 2.Orientation Program
 Discussion on the Methodology of Science;
Theme presentation and discussion of
possible sub themes.

4. Stage 3. Synopsis
Submission of Synopsis by the teams followed by
evaluation and selection of teams for the final
round
Stage 4. Research &Thesis submission
a. Interface of the teams with the Academic
Committee
(Mandatory)
b. Scientific study of the problem selected
c. Periodical interactions of the teams with AC to
assess
progress in research
d. Preparation &Submission of the final thesis
followed
by evaluation.

5. Research Areas
Focal Theme
Clean Environment; Clean city -through
environment protection and waste reduction.
Possible sub themes
 Qualitative and quantitative Study of the various types of waste
generated in a domestic environment; waste generated
 Studies in the Environmental impact of Air-conditioning / other
cooling systems
 Study of the domestic plastic usage and the environmental impact.
 Study and Analysis of Electronic waste generated and their
disposal/management
 Consumption of fossil fuels and the magnitude of pollution in your
town.Studies in the carbon emission due to traffic and lack of
sufficient public transport

6.  Carbon footprint of domestic products-Food miles of
domestic consumables and analysis of the carbon
footprint.
 Analysis and assessment of the consumption/
wastage of energy in public spaces-Conservation of
energy
 Biodiversity in public parks/gardens; Study and
analysis of the various elements in a Public park/
Garden (birds, insects, plant types, soil types, water,
fertiliser, insecticides and energy)
 Study and Analysis of school transportation system -
energy factor, traffic impact and safety.
 Study of the School day to day operations and their
impact on the environment

7. About FKSSP
 A voluntary organization based in the U.A.E
functioning in line with the parent social organization
Kerala Sasthra Sahitya Parishad
 Units in AbuDhabi, Dubai & Sharjah
 Has undertaken many programs around the themes
Education, Science and Environment in the U.A.E
 Organizes programs such as Star Watching,
Desert Ecology etc. through ‘living with science’
camps (Changathikoottam) for children.
 Organizes training programs for teachers, seminars
and symposia for children and adults in the UAE,
 Supports schools in implementing student
centered curriculum.
