Helen Keller was born in 1880 and lost her vision and hearing at 19 months old. In 1887, Anne Sullivan began teaching Helen and helped her learn how to communicate through touch and sign language. Helen learned to read and write in Braille and went on to graduate from Radcliffe College with Anne's help. She became an author and political activist, traveling the world to lecture on disability and social rights. Keller overcame immense challenges and became the first deaf-blind person to earn a bachelor of arts degree.
