Committee Reports:
Curriculum
Spring Semester is going very well, classes have had great attendance.
The committee is in the process of scheduling classes for the Fall 2012 Semester that runs mid-
September to mid-December. The most recent draft of the calendar (3/20/12) has been sent to
committee members, destroy all earlier versions. Please continue sign up speakers. Let me
know as soon as you have a commitment so I can put it on the calendar. Remember, I need the
Speaker Info Sheets completed for each class that you set up.
The next Curriculum Meeting will be on Tuesday, April 3rd at 1:00. This follows the morning
class on Social Security Online so plan on coming to class, grabbing lunch in the cafeteria and
then attending the Curriculum Meeting at 1:00. We will keep the meeting to 1 hour so you will
be out of there by 2:00.
Thanks and keep up the good work.

The deadline to submit Fall schedule classes and forms to Sarah is May 1st. An issue: Ask if
instructors plan to use a Mac book for their presentation. The college is Windows based and
they would need to put their presentation into that format. Also, we can only use a bigger room
(in CASA) if the class is opened to the campus and approval has gone through the Dean first.
Bus Trips
The March 20 bus trip was a narrative tour of the northern portion of Precinct 3. Due to heavy
rain the morning of the trip approximately half of the riders cancelled. However, Harris County
did not cancel so those that braved the weather had a great time. The heavy rains passed
through the area very quickly and had very little effect on the outing. Places visited included
Kleb Woods Nature Preserve, Zube Park, Soap Box Derby Park, Cypress Top Historic Park,
2. Thomas Glazier Senior Education Center, Archer Dog Park and Bear Creek Pioneers Park with its
wildlife preserve and War Memorial.
Bus trips are planned for the following dates:
April 16 (Monday): Gundermann Farms and Rosenberg Railroad Museum
May 31st (Thursday): Aquarena Springs and Wimberley Glassworks in San Marcos
June 26 (Tuesday): Moody Gardens
On April 3rd we will call for our bus dates for July, August and September. A bus trip committee
meeting is planned for Wednesday, March 28 at 11:15 am.

The Soap Box Derby Park has a Senior Day April 13th. Perhaps we could set up a “Meet You
There” for that day.
Events
Peggy sent a few ideas for Focus Day. We are working on the list of who to invite. No other
report.

Communication and Membership
Gene reports that our membership now stands at 635. At the current time I show 527 paid
contacts, 138 non-paid contacts and 10 guests for a total of 675 contacts.
At this time I am reviewing a number of registration forms for our members. I have found
several registration forms for members who I did not have on my list, several non-pain
members who are now paid and several members who have moved and/or changed phone
numbers. I will transfer these forms to Gene as soon as I have completed this process.
Our emails continue to provide support for other campus programs.

Outreach – Outreach is looking into ideas for a student scholarship sponsored by ALL. We need
a donation push, a look at company matches, etc. We would prefer that it go to older, non-
classic students.

Additional Items
Summer Registration – classes start the week of June 4th. There will be no formal open house,
but we will have a table set up in CASA the week of May 21st from 10AM to 2PM. Members can
register for bus trips. We encourage non-members to try out classes for free. But they won’t
get an ID card until they sign up and pay in the fall.
New officers – The current Advisory Committee members have been in their positions for about
three years now. Do we want to change or re-elect members? Can we invite others to become
more involved? Don will put a statement in the email about needing new volunteers for the
advisory board and committee chairs.
12:40 PM Adjourned
This meeting was adjourned at 12:40 PM. The next Advisory Committee meeting is scheduled
for Wednesday, April 18, 2012, room to be announced.
Respectfully submitted,
Anne Criddle, Secretary
