This document summarizes the author's art education research journal. It describes several projects and pages from the journal, including observing an elementary school art class, creating a fall landscape painting, including an article on street art, adding their own artwork using stencils, and pages on ancient African art and the International art scene. The author enjoyed being able to use different mediums in their journal and felt their journal was more personal and complete by adding their own original art.

2. This was my third school observation and probably my favorite. I observed at Ralph Askins Elementary School with Mrs. Becky Jones. I thought I wouldn’t enjoy this age group as much as the others but I really did. The picture is the project the students worked on and I loved it so much I went home and did one myself!

3. Page 20 was really fun to create. I really enjoyed being able to use different mediums in our journals. I painted this picture to use as one of my personal pages. I think it turned out really well, a lot better than I expected it to. I wanted to create a fall sunset landscape which is my favorite time of year.

4. These two pages are one of my research articles. It was a really interesting article about street/graffiti art and how someone can produce art anywhere and that it isn’t destroying property but creating art. I had a lot of fun making my own stencil.

5. These two pages are my own artwork and in a way a reflection of myself. It was nice to have something to contribute to the journal that was mine. I believe that your journal is just not complete until you add some of your on art, it is really what makes your journal so personal.

6. Pages 74 and 75 are my art history pages. I feel like it is important for students to understand culture other than their own so I choose ancient African art. The background of 74 is a copy of kente cloth that my father bought in Kenya, Africa. I choose the International scene because I felt like this was an important art era because so many artists were experimenting with new media and ideas.
