In 1901, the then Viceroy
Lord Curzon called an
Educational Conference at
Simla, and consequently, he
appointed a university
commission under the
chairmanship of Sir. Thomas
Raleigh, to conduct a deep
study on the conditions of
Indian Universities. The
commission submitted its
report in 1902.
