secretly to Spetses in her ships., to fight “for the sake

3. Manto Mavrogenous (Greek: Μαντώ
Μαυρογένους) (1796 – July 1848) was a
Greek heroine of the Greek War of
Independence. A rich woman, she spent
all her fortune for the Hellenic cause.
Under her encouragement, her European
friends contributed money and guns to
the revolution. Manto Mavrogenous was
born in Trieste, then in the Habsburg
Monarchy, now part of Italy. She was
daughter of the merchant and member of

and eas distinguished for his courage, courage and the
reputation of a fearless soldier. He was brave enough, but
was seriously injured by a Turkish soldier and transferred to
Kritsa. At the time of the medical treatment, the Kritsos
recognized that the heroic Spanomanolis, was a woman.All
the society of Kritsa cried at her funeral and dressed her as a
bride and buried her in Prodromos(Kritsa Cemetery).
