Love, Class, and Reputation within the works of Jane Austin By: Megan Stone
Overview Background Love Class Reputation
Jane Austen’s Background Born December 16,1775 At the age of 14 she wrote her first novel  Love and Friendship. Jane wrote  the things that she loved to do in her works, like dancing and going to balls, and taking long walks in the country. She had a sister Cassandra whom she was very close to Jane died on 18 July, 1817 at the age of 41 due to Addisons Disease.
Love
Love in Pride and Prejudice This novel is an epic love story about marriage. Elizabeth Bennett and Mr. Darcy go through the journeys that life took them on. One could say “fate” brought them together because somehow most of the time that they traveled, they wound up together.
 Love in Emma Emma is a love story about a girl named Emma who liked to play the matchmaker. She meddled in everyone's business, and almost missed out on love her self. In the end she married  Mr. Knightley a man who has all been right beside her that loved from the day that they first met.
 Love in Sense and Sensibility Sense and Sensibility is a story about how  money defines love and who you love. There are very close relationship that develop between people as they go through the journeys that life takes them on. Its about the journeys that two sisters go through and the loves that they develop on the way.
Class in Pride and Prejudice In the time this book was set, the 1800s, class played a huge role in what type of person you were. Class is how you were categorized.  Mr. Darcy is high-classed, while Elizabeth Bennett is middle-class. When Mr. Darcy and and Elizabeth Bennett get married, many people disapprove, including his aunt.
 Class in Emma Emma is about a lady of very wealthy class. She tries to match up people based on their class, and how much money they have which makes one a suitable match.
 Class in Sense and Sensibility Sense and Sensibility was about a story of two sisters and their family. Sense and Sensibility is all about how money governors what class you are put into. You are looked on by what class of society that you fall into.
Reputation in Pride and Prejudice Reputation Like class, reputation is a reoccurring theme In Pride and Prejudice. Wickham, a servant, ruins the reputation of many women by sleeping with them.  As Wickham’s about to ruin the reputation of Georgiana, Mr. Darcy stops the marriage in order to save his families reputation.
 Reputation in Emma  Emma has a reoccurring theme of reputation all throughout the novel. People look at you based on what actions you take, which reflects your reputation.
 Reputation in Sense and Sensibility Sense and Sensibility is a bout how Mr. Willoughby damages some young girls reputation by sleeping around and getting her pregnant and then leaving. Mr. Willoughby makes a girl fall in love with her a then leaves her for some one of money. By doing this she is considered damaged goods by the people of their society and no one is suppose to want to be with her again.
