3. Why is genre important to
producers?
Why is genre so important to film producers? Good question. The answer
is pretty simple, producers need to make sure that they engage their
target audience. To do this the producers need to know exactly what kind
of film they aim to produce in order to use actors, filming techniques,
props etc. to make sure they attract the audience they want to.
By having a genre a producer has a sort of filming/editing style to follow.
Most producers want to keep key elements from the genre in the film, but
also give the genre their own twist. Its gives them a template to work off
of.
When promoting the film, the genre also plays a key role. When creating
the advert the producer will want to ensure that the audience will be able
to tell want genre the film is. People often want to go see films because
they love films of that genre. Take me as example, every time I see a
horror film advertised – it doesn’t matter about the storyline – I know I
want to go watch the film because I love horrors.
4. Why is genre important to the
audience?
For the audience genre is important to inform them of what the film will be
like. The audience will be attracted to films based on genres and most
iconic features from that genre
