2. The setting of Katy Perry’s album is on what seems to be a candyfloss cloud and this
therefore holds direct links to the album name ‘Teenage Dream’, due to the fact she is in
the clouds and dreaming is sometimes referred to as ‘having your head in the clouds’.
The colours pink and blue are used throughout, but the colour pink more so. Pink
creates the illusion of Katy being girly and sweet.

3. Katy is seen on the digipack wearing nothing and being covered only by candyfloss,
therefore using her sexuality as a lure in terms of appeal. The contrast of her black hair
and porcelain skin hold reference to Snow White and therefore makes her seem
magical and innocent. The pose on the right hand side of the digipack also aids in
making Katy look innocent due to her legs being pointed to the sky, similar to what
stereotypical teenagers do in order to be cute.

4. Katy’s make up and hair creates direct links to Snow White and therefore holds iconic
reference to innocence and purity. The colour pink is iconic of girliness and is
stereotypically linked to girls and young teenage girls, creating the illusion that Katy is a
young teenage girl at heart.

5. Katy is directly addressing her audience by looking at the camera and this therefore
helps to grab the audience and make them feel like a part of the world in which Katy is
involved with. High key lighting is used to highlight Katy’s face and this therefore helps
in terms of establishing the album and making it more desirable. The writing colour
sticks with the blue and red/pink theme and this helps to continue the idea of girliness
and innocence.

6. I personally think that this album cover is a conceptual piece due to the idea of being on
a cloud of pink candyfloss, as it is an impossibility and simply just a dream of hers. In
addition to this, the use of sweets throughout the album aid the idea of a conceptual
piece, as they hold no relevance to the remainder of the album (apart from possibly
links with the candyfloss clouds, but this is still not a direct link between the two.)
