The Braden Scale
The fourth study by Iranmanesh, S., Rafiei, H., & Sabzevari, S. (2012) is a Level II clinical trial,
which identifies the connection between the Braden Scale assessment and critically ill patient
admitted to the trauma ICU. The study monitored patients admitted to the ICU over a three month
period which were assessed using the Braden Scale assessment tool. In this study, it was found that
the Braden scale was effective in predicting patients at risk for pressure ulcers. The Braden Scale
was performed three times a day by trained clinical nurses on eight–two patients who were admitted
to the ICU and had no pressure ulcers at the time of admission. Of those admitted eleven patient
developed pressure ulcers. The findings of this study found that

Examples Of Naturalism In The Great Gatsby
Imagine having all the money in the world, and being able to live in a big house. Multiple people
out there would kill to have all this. In F. Scott Fitzgerald's novel The Great Gatsby, characters all
throughout the novel, wish they could be part of another social class. They would do anything to
have the endless piles of money, and have grand parties, like one character in the novel. The novel
makes a naturalism argument about how people are unable to reach the American Dream, due to
the social class that they were born into. First off, one character in the novel best represents not
being able to reach the American Dream, due to doing things for the wrong reasons. To start off,
Gatsby seems like the guy who has all the money, the guy who you

My Teenage Years
My teenage years were a rollercoaster. For the most part, I had a lot of growing up to do and to
figure out my future ahead of me. Like most teenagers, I was mainly focused on my own
difficulties and great moments. Many times, I found myself in complicated situations ashamed to
talk about. This course and textbook, Adolescent psychology, allowed me to reflect on my
teenage year. There are better ways to explain the aspects in my younger years. I will be going
over my family, friends and even myself to analyze my adolescent years. There were more
supportive answers to explain a few of my teenage years. As well as, issues most teenagers have
gone through. There are also explanations on relations with family and friends playing a role through
my youth. The importance and impact it can have on young adults. There always growth and
development going throughout our lives.
I think the unusual part was my parent's relationship. They were not together but lived together.
This often threw off relations with each other. My dad at moved out but then moved back in
because of immigration. This brought my parents back together once they figured out the legal
orders. Yet, a year went by and the relationship did not seem to work out. At the time I thought it
would be best if my parents would separate. I grew frustrated my mom would use the excuse that
they were together because of us. Honestly, that hurt me more than wanting them to stay together. If
they were not happy together what's the point of having them together? I told my parents at one
point they did not have to do it for us. I remember my brother crying but of the idea of my father
moving away rather than them not being together. In the textbook, there are advantages of them
staying together because of economically reasons (287). But my father had his own problems that
dragged us down. There were more pros to my parents divorcing right away then trying to stay
together. If it is economic reason is why most people stayed my mother used because of the children
for financial reasoning and not the emotional toll on us. I believe the unusual part was the lack of
family attention. My relationship with my family was complicated. My father was rarely in my

A Capstone Research Paper
Capstone Reflection Essay~ by Sophia Plourde 8A 5/26/16
While doing my Capstone project I realized that I am too broad with my research. I tend to think
really big which in most cases is not a bad thing, but when doing projects such as the Capstone
project I need to focus on facts more closely related to my topic.
My teacher gave me a helpful analogy for researching; "Make a bullseye in the middle put need to
know. In the second ring put nice to know. In the outermost ring put good to know."
This analogy will really help me, and is really helping me be more specific with my research. Which
will help get me better grades, and more from future projects.

Persuasive Essay On Mental Illness
Living with a mental illness can be hard, but it is even harder if there isn't any access to the
proper treatment needed in order to get better. It could result with the person committing a crime
and ending up behind bars. The severity of a mental illness the may have ranges. Many people
who suffer from one can be a danger to themselves or to those around them. It is up to a mental
health professional or an officer to ensure that they receive the help that they need. In order to do
so, they should place those with a mental illness in a mental health facility. There are many people
who are arrested due to their actions which may look incriminating, but it is a result of the illness
they may possess. When the person is arrested and taken into custody, gets background checked
and it is seen that they have a medical record that states they have some sort of mental illness the
officers should take them to a mental health hospital instead of taking them to jail or prison. By
placing them in a jail or prison it will make their mental illness worse due to the trauma they will
experience while they stay there. As where if they are taken to a mental hospital it increases their
chances of getting better and not getting arrested again. The people whom have a mental health issue
and choose not to go and seek treatment put their life in danger as well as with the people they are
surrounded with. In an article called "Involuntary Commitment of People with Mental Illness:
Should states

A Reflection on the Study of Economics
Part 1
Some of the most compelling topics that I learned in this topic only came into focus at the end of
the course. Economics is a very large and complex study and reflecting on this subject, piece by
piece, requires some patience and ability to put the pieces together. The relationships between simple
choices, such as supply and demand, drives all economic and commercial exchange but only through
the lens of economic models that attempt to layout this system by combing mathematical principles
and psycho–social evaluation. All in all, this was very interesting introduction to some of the
complex drivers that propel society.
Discussions are always useful because we are allowed an opportunity to weigh and evaluate our
own personal thoughts with those of others. This comparison helps gauge where I stand on many
political and social issues that derive from economic theories and philosophies. Knowing where I
stand amongst my peers is a helpful measurement to contrast and qualify my own thoughts. For
example, when the topic of monetary policy came up, I was very shocked to find out the
importance of currency and how it is used in global markets.
What was more revealing is the United States' relationship to the Federal Reserve and that
organization's power of the monetary policy set in this country. It is very difficult to fathom how the
entire economic systems sometimes works without a major disaster every day. The ability of the
economic markets in the world to bring

There are ways our government controls and protects our country. However, there are other countries
that have a different form of taking care of their nation. There are two types of government that
demonstrates and explain how countries around the world takes care of their nation. Every country
either has a limited or unlimited government that can explain the ways they do things. By learning
about the differences of a limited and unlimited government, we will be able to understand historical
debate in the united states, comparison of the United States government vs another country with a
different government type and how each government applies to the concept of a representative
democracy.
First, a limited government is when the power of the government is limited by the constitution. With
a limited government, everyone, including all authority figures, must obey the laws. The constitution
protects the individual rights of the citizen. In a limited government, gaining power is not the main
goal. The main goal is to improve public goods. However, a unlimited government is the opposite of
a limited government. With a unlimited government, the government's power has no limits. Control
is placed solely with the ruler and his or hers appointees. Unlimited government has total control over
their citizens and no limit it...show more content...
In the United States, limited government includes the Bill of rights, constitution and parliament. The
Bill of Rights are the first ten amendments of the constitution. It guarantees rights like freedom of
speech, assembly and worship. The Bill of RIghts is what gives citizens the right to protest and speak
their minds. The constitution establishes America's government and fundamental laws. It also
guarantees basic rights for citizens. A parliament is a legislative body of government. It has three
three functions, which are representing the electorate, making laws and overseeing the

Spending Time With My Family
Spending time with my Family during the weekends
The most important thing for me in my life is my family. Although we are separated during the
week, we would hardly see each other. Deep down, they are the reason why I look forward to
Fridays and Sundays. These days are not Just any ordinary day for my family because we get to
come to gather and have fun we bond as any other normal family dose. Another reason why my
family is important to me is because my mother is my motivation to finish the week she is the first
person I see in the morning and the last person I see at night.
My Mother and I are the only ones that live in Storm Lake, so it is very hard and stressful
sometimes because we really do not see each other due to her working schedule. My mother works
from 8:00 AM to 9:00 pM, every week except on Fridays. So during the rest of the week, I feel like I
am alone all the time.
Every day, I do the same thing, get out of school and go home. The house would feel so empty
and silenced. Just me with my soul normally feeling bored and depressed It's all that comes to my
mind when there is no one to talk to. Mondays for me are the longest I feel that the day won't even
end from all the chores I have to do; taking out the trash , washing the dishes to making dinner.
Everything is done by the time my mother comes home so she won't have to worry about it. When
my mom comes home, we sit near the table and eat food from there we say our good nights and set
off to go to

123 Test Reflection
For the 123 Test, my results showed that my openness to experience is low, my conscientiousness
is very low, my extraversion is very low, my agreeableness is high, and my natural reactions are
very high. The descriptions given to me included down–to–earth, spontaneous, reserved,
compassionate, and prone to worry. I think that the test describes me pretty well, however I feel that
my score on conscientiousness should have at least been in the mid range. I also think that the test
is valid and tests what it is supposed to. I don't think the test is reliable in the sense that a person can
choose whatever choice they want. I also think that sometimes a person may make different choices,
especially on questions that were harder for the test taker to answer.
My score on the Psychology Today test gave me a 47 on a scale of 100 for my success orientation.
...show more content...
I feel that these scores pretty much match how I actually am. I think I am a bit more organized than
the test concluded but the other results were pretty accurate. I think that the test is valid in what it
wanted to test, however like the other tests, I think that the reliability is low because sometimes
people's answers can change on a day–to–day basis for some of the questions. I think that the three
tests supported some of the thoughts that I already had about my personality. The 123 Test and
the Big Five test were pretty accurate, however I did not agree with the description given for the
Psychology Today test. I think that the test was not beneficial because it gave a score that was only
based on scoring above or below the 50th percentile. That means that scores like mine that were at
47 were not as accurate to my actual personality as they could

Biking Informative Speech
Biking is a hobby enjoyed by millions of people around the world. There's nothing quite like the
feeling of the open road beneath your pedals as you ride. Whether it's on the street or off–roading,
biking is a pastime that almost everyone enjoys.
However, if you're new to biking, or just haven't had much experience doing it, you may be
wondering how to get started. While you could just theoretically buy the first bike you see, if you
want to have a comfortable experience, it's important that you choose the right set of wheels.
Today I'll be talking about the best entry level road bikes to help you get started. Whether you're
just looking for a casual bike to take out with the family or a bicycle to commute to work, all of the
models you...show more content...
Since this bike is made of aluminum, it's both lightweight and surprisingly durable. If you're looking
for something simple that will last for years, this is a great bike to get.
Shimano makes some of the best gears and shifters (called derailleurs) in the industry, and the
Vilano comes with both, so you know that it will be easy to use and shift remarkably well. This bike
has 21 speeds to choose from, so you get the best ride possible.
Durability is the name of the game with this bike, as it is made with 6061 Double Butted Aluminum.
What that means is that the metal is thicker around the joints for extra strength, while the tubing
itself is thinner so you get the least weight possible. Overall, this is one of the lightest and strongest
bikes available from Vilano.
This model also comes with alloy caliper brakes. What this means is that the brakes press against
the rim of the tire to slow you down, as opposed to disc brakes, which press against a metal disk in
the center of the tire. The brakes are controlled via triggers on the handlebars.
For your riding comfort, the Vilano also has a thick padded seat that's designed for casual street

Machiavelli's Ideas
More than anything else we've read this year, Machiavelli is extremely difficult for me to respond
to. I find myself agreeing with a lot of his ideas (at least I think I agree with his ideas, his writing
jumbles my head around), and most of my comments come from a place of unwarranted rage.
One complaint I have is that I think he goes back on his word a lot. The thing is, Machiavelli
shoves so much information down your throat every sentence that everything I've read kind of
melds together in a strange sort of limbo. For example, I'm fairly sure he talks about the
importance of being kind and virtuous in the first reading we did, but in the second a lot of it is
about being merciless. Maybe those were supposed to apply to different situations....show more

That means that I mostly put everything in context of American history, which probably isn't
what Machiavelli would want seeing as his whole book is supposed to be on principalities.
Making a connection to some other historical event really helps me out. For example, normally I
would read the line, "...The enemy will as a matter of course burn and pillage the countryside
when he arrives..." and I would've just been really bummed out by it (Machiavelli 37). But, in
Cold War we just watched a documentary on the Vietnam War. And so, for the rest of the passage
I kept drawing parallels between whatever the hell Machiavelli was talking about and the Vietnam
War. When Machiavelli said, "So the subjects will identify themselves even more with their
prince, since now that their houses have already been burned and their lands pillaged in his
defence they will consider that there is a strong bond of obligation on his part," I got really
excited because that's exactly happened in Vietnam after the U.S. firebombed them a million times
(Machiavelli 37). It's comforting to know that Machiavelli isn't just spewing a bunch of terrible
advice and making the reader fall for it. I really like the book and the ideas so far, I just wish that
someone could put it in some kindergarten–level terminology so I could read

How to Make the World a Better Place

What I Have Done and Will Do to Make the World a Better Place Reduce, Reuse, Recycle! During
the 21st century, in the United States there are many good ways the youth can help make the
world a better place. Trying to help make the world a better place is very important because one
needs the world to live on. One needs to be resourceful with natural resources. I have recycled,
picked up trash, participated in community events, and fundraised for important organizations and
sports. I will do everything I already do more often, enforce the no bullying policy, plant trees,
reduce the amount of electricity I use, and take shorter showers to make the world a better place. In

There are many great effects to trying to make the world a better place. Recycling will affect the
world in a positive manner because the things one no longer need can be useful to others and it
helps lower pollution. Picking up litter in one's neighborhood is very important because, with a
nicer community, more people will want to come live there. Participating in community events, not
only helps the community as a whole by cleaning it up and donating money, but it also helps the
world. Fundraising for important organizations helps the world because organizations like
Walking For Cancer helps fundraise for those who can't afford treatment. Destination Imagination
helps encourage children's imaginations and thought process. D.A.R.E. helps keep children off
drugs and the children are the future of the world. Sports are also very important because they
give children a passion to focus on. Reducing bullying will impact the world in a positive way
because it will allow students to do their best in school if they aren't constantly worried about what
they look like and be more focused on their work. A simple smirk or rude comment can totally ruin
someone's day and make them feel terrible about themselves. More trees in the world would help
with drought and heat exhaustion because they provide shade and keep the air clean. Trees also
provide habitats for many important animals that keep the eco–system in balance. Shorter

My Experience For My Academic Experience
SERVICE EXPERIENCE On the surface, making the world a better place is an intimidating and
overwhelming task. Social service, volunteerism, and community engagement have shaped my
undergraduate career and continue to guide my graduate and professional aspirations. While I
highly value my academic experience, I have found my extracurricular involvement opportunities to
be invaluable in solidifying the importance of small steps to incite large scale change. On campus, I
have found leadership roles on the executive board of the suicide prevention student organization,
Ask.Listen.Save., as the outreach coordinator and president as well as an intern with our affiliate,
the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, I have gained professional and life skills such as
organization, delegation, and teamwork through planning and leading meetings and overseeing the
executive board. Through events on campus and talking with people one on one, I have had the
opportunity to help members of the campus community to feel safe talking about their struggles
and reaching out for help. During my time with this organization I have come to realize the impact
of simply being there to listen to somebody who is having a tough time. I accept that I cannot fix
somebody's problems, but I can be there as an effective support. Off campus, I have found further
opportunities in different forms of crisis work. I have volunteered with the Dane County Rape
Crisis Center as well as Domestic Abuse

Human Rights And Social Work
Starting with Jane Adams in the early 20th century, human rights were at the forefront of her work
with the Hull House which helped establish the social work profession as we know it (Healy, 2008).
The Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the values set and regulated by the NASW share a
common theme focusing on, dignity, self–determination, and improving the quality of life for
everyone. Social workers are on the forefront of advocating for, and creating social change, and
justice (NASW, 2015). Social work constantly challenges racism, discrimination and the inhumane
treatment of vulnerable people.
Internationally the social work profession attempts to link vulnerable populations with basic needs
like, food, healthcare, housing, and equality all which reflect article 25 of the Universal Declaration
of Human Rights (United Nations, 2014). Social workers wear many hats, and have established roles
in many institutions like hospitals, schools, nursing homes, acting as liaisons between the
establishments and individuals who seek their services (Reichert, 2007).
2. What social work practices might constrain human rights?
The Social work is a profession not only rewards merit, but there is also a monetary gain. The
majority of qualified social workers are employed by local government agencies which can create a
conflict of interest because of their obligation, and commitment to their employer. The government
agencies have their own political and financial agenda that can be

Client Centered Approach
The client centred therapy was developed by Carl Rogers in 1942 and was based on his personal
experience with clients. He believed that everyone is capable of solving their own problems if the
right conditions are provided. He proposed that the therapist's role was to listen to clients, be
empathic with them, and accept them for who they were rather than offer deep interpretations of
unconscious material or mechanistically change behaviors. He emphasized the real relationship
between the therapist and the client rather than the transference relationship, and suggested that
therapists should be open and genuine with their clients. He summed this up in six conditions that he
thought were necessary for successful therapy. These conditions...show more content...
Abraham Maslow created a hierarchy of needs that needs to be followed in process towards self
actualisation, this is called Maslow's triangle. He says:"All the evidence that we have indicates that
it is reasonable to assume in practically every human being, and certainly in almost every new–born
baby, that there is an active will towards health, an impulse towards growth, or towards
actualization." Actualizations tendency can be often suppressed when person experience luck
of positive regard while growing up but can never be destroyed. In my personal life I can think of
few occasions when counselling skills helped me to understand others and at the same time help
them to understand themselves. I would like to describe here two of these occasions that stuck to
my mind the most. In the first situation I found myself almost forcing myself to try to empathize
with one of my flat mates. I believe that reason for it was that I was personally involved in this
problematic situation, felt hurt and upset with this person. My flat mates name is Mike, he is 43
years of age, and he is single. He lives in the shared house and is a sociable person who likes to go
out with his friends, he likes to play tennis and he is a big football supporter. Also Mike can have
a very short temper and when angry he becomes very loud and can be verbally abusive. From what
he says, he enjoys his job and is comfortable with his life at the moment. I have lived in the same

In the short story, "Bartleby the Scrivener," Herman Melville employs the use of plot, setting, point
of view, characterization, and tone to reveal the theme. Different critics have widely varying ideas of
what exactly the main theme of "Bartleby" is, but one theme that is agreed upon by numerous critics
is the theme surrounding the lawyer, Bartleby, and humanity. The theme in "Bartleby the Scrivener"
revolves around three main developments: Bartleby's existentialistic point of view, the lawyer's
portrayal of egotism and materialism, and the humanity they both possess. The three developments
present the lawyer's and Bartleby's alienation from the world into a "safe" world of their own
design. The lawyer, although an active member of...show more content...
Melville's choice to employ a simple plot to reveal complex characterizations of humanity shows
the author's plan to make the reader interpret the theme for himself or herself. Without a complex
plot, the author must use other elements of fiction to uncover variations in the lawyer's and
Bartleby's outlook on society. The walls of Bartleby conflict with the lawyer's walls, but both are
designed to keep both the lawyer and Bartleby safe from the outside world. The lawyer's safe
haven is where his office is: Wall Street. On Wall Street, the lawyer knows exactly what society
expects of him. He is content with himself and his sense of conventionality and considers himself
a representative human being. The lawyer considers Bartleby to be representative of humanity.
The lawyer states, "For both I and Bartleby were sons of Adam" (Melville 143). The lawyer
originally places himself and Bartleby in the same context of society. However, the lawyer seems
to recognize, at the conclusion of the story, the universality of Bartleby's plight. Leon F. Seltzer
indicates, "Not simply Bartleby but everybody is essentially isolated in the prison of self and can
break out of it only through illusions, whose fragility constantly subjects them to destruction"
(119). Bartleby's safe haven is also within the lawyer's office on Wall Street. Bartleby haunts the law
office and is described as a ghost. By referring to Bartleby as an apparition, Melville

Essay On English 123
English 123 is a requirement for almost all majors, including mine. To meet this requirement, I was
given a choice a take English Composition CLEP and English 123. I decided to take this course
with the hope to improve my writing and critical thinking skills. Even though it was hard to take an
English class on deployment, I am very glad that I took it. My time is well spent on this course.
Among many things, I learned out of this course, here are a three outcome that is worth mentioning.
First, responding orally and in writing to evaluate, analyze, and critically assess the ideas and
meaning of diverse texts. Second, making appropriate rhetorical decisions to achieve the purpose of
a written work, based on an understanding of ethical issues and underlying assumptions and values in
the argument. Third, demonstrating understanding of the interdependent relationship of reading,
writing, and thinking and reflect on their thinking as part of a larger community of thinkers.
I learned how to respond orally and in writing to evaluate, analyze, and critically assess the ideas
and meaning of diverse texts by composing summary and strong response, and exploratory research

(2012) is a Level II clinical trial, which identifies the connection between the Braden Scale assessment and critically ill patient admitted to the trauma ICU. The study monitored patients admitted to the ICU over a three month period which were assessed using the Braden Scale assessment tool. In this study, it was found that the Braden scale was effective in predicting patients at risk for pressure ulcers. The Braden Scale was performed three times a day by trained clinical nurses on eight–two patients who were admitted to the ICU and had no pressure ulcers at the time of admission. Of those admitted eleven patient developed pressure ulcers. The findings of this study found that Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Scott Fitzgerald's novel The Great Gatsby, characters all throughout the novel, wish they could be part of another social class. They would do anything to have the endless piles of money, and have grand parties, like one character in the novel. The novel makes a naturalism argument about how people are unable to reach the American Dream, due to the social class that they were born into. First off, one character in the novel best represents not being able to reach the American Dream, due to doing things for the wrong reasons. To start off, Gatsby seems like the guy who has all the money, the guy who you Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. My Teenage Years My teenage years were a rollercoaster. For the most part, I had a lot of growing up to do and to figure out my future ahead of me. Like most teenagers, I was mainly focused on my own difficulties and great moments. Many times, I found myself in complicated situations ashamed to talk about. This course and textbook, Adolescent psychology, allowed me to reflect on my teenage year. There are better ways to explain the aspects in my younger years. I will be going over my family, friends and even myself to analyze my adolescent years. There were more supportive answers to explain a few of my teenage years. As well as, issues most teenagers have gone through. There are also explanations on relations with family and friends playing a role through my youth. The importance and impact it can have on young adults. There always growth and development going throughout our lives. I think the unusual part was my parent's relationship. They were not together but lived together. This often threw off relations with each other. My dad at moved out but then moved back in because of immigration. This brought my parents back together once they figured out the legal orders. Yet, a year went by and the relationship did not seem to work out. At the time I thought it would be best if my parents would separate. I grew frustrated my mom would use the excuse that they were together because of us. Honestly, that hurt me more than wanting them to stay together. If they were not happy together what's the point of having them together? I told my parents at one point they did not have to do it for us. I remember my brother crying but of the idea of my father moving away rather than them not being together. In the textbook, there are advantages of them staying together because of economically reasons (287). But my father had his own problems that dragged us down. There were more pros to my parents divorcing right away then trying to stay together. If it is economic reason is why most people stayed my mother used because of the children for financial reasoning and not the emotional toll on us. I believe the unusual part was the lack of family attention. My relationship with my family was complicated. My father was rarely in my teenage Get more content on HelpWriting.net

I tend to think really big which in most cases is not a bad thing, but when doing projects such as the Capstone project I need to focus on facts more closely related to my topic. My teacher gave me a helpful analogy for researching; "Make a bullseye in the middle put need to know. In the second ring put nice to know. In the outermost ring put good to know." This analogy will really help me, and is really helping me be more specific with my research. Which will help get me better grades, and more from future projects. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Persuasive Essay On Mental Illness Living with a mental illness can be hard, but it is even harder if there isn't any access to the proper treatment needed in order to get better. It could result with the person committing a crime and ending up behind bars. The severity of a mental illness the may have ranges. Many people who suffer from one can be a danger to themselves or to those around them. It is up to a mental health professional or an officer to ensure that they receive the help that they need. In order to do so, they should place those with a mental illness in a mental health facility. There are many people who are arrested due to their actions which may look incriminating, but it is a result of the illness they may possess. When the person is arrested and taken into custody, gets background checked and it is seen that they have a medical record that states they have some sort of mental illness the officers should take them to a mental health hospital instead of taking them to jail or prison. By placing them in a jail or prison it will make their mental illness worse due to the trauma they will experience while they stay there. As where if they are taken to a mental hospital it increases their chances of getting better and not getting arrested again. The people whom have a mental health issue and choose not to go and seek treatment put their life in danger as well as with the people they are surrounded with. • 7. A Reflection on the Study of Economics Part 1 Some of the most compelling topics that I learned in this topic only came into focus at the end of the course. Economics is a very large and complex study and reflecting on this subject, piece by piece, requires some patience and ability to put the pieces together. The relationships between simple choices, such as supply and demand, drives all economic and commercial exchange but only through the lens of economic models that attempt to layout this system by combing mathematical principles and psycho–social evaluation. All in all, this was very interesting introduction to some of the complex drivers that propel society. Discussions are always useful because we are allowed an opportunity to weigh and evaluate our own personal thoughts with those of others. This comparison helps gauge where I stand on many political and social issues that derive from economic theories and philosophies. Knowing where I stand amongst my peers is a helpful measurement to contrast and qualify my own thoughts. For example, when the topic of monetary policy came up, I was very shocked to find out the importance of currency and how it is used in global markets. What was more revealing is the United States' relationship to the Federal Reserve and that organization's power of the monetary policy set in this country. It is very difficult to fathom how the entire economic systems sometimes works without a major disaster every day. The ability of the economic markets in the world to bring Get more content on HelpWriting.net

There are two types of government that demonstrates and explain how countries around the world takes care of their nation. Every country either has a limited or unlimited government that can explain the ways they do things. By learning about the differences of a limited and unlimited government, we will be able to understand historical debate in the united states, comparison of the United States government vs another country with a different government type and how each government applies to the concept of a representative democracy. First, a limited government is when the power of the government is limited by the constitution. With a limited government, everyone, including all authority figures, must obey the laws. The constitution protects the individual rights of the citizen. In a limited government, gaining power is not the main goal. The main goal is to improve public goods. However, a unlimited government is the opposite of a limited government. With a unlimited government, the government's power has no limits. • 9. Spending Time With My Family Spending time with my Family during the weekends The most important thing for me in my life is my family. Although we are separated during the week, we would hardly see each other. Deep down, they are the reason why I look forward to Fridays and Sundays. These days are not Just any ordinary day for my family because we get to come to gather and have fun we bond as any other normal family dose. Another reason why my family is important to me is because my mother is my motivation to finish the week she is the first person I see in the morning and the last person I see at night. My Mother and I are the only ones that live in Storm Lake, so it is very hard and stressful sometimes because we really do not see each other due to her working schedule. My mother works from 8:00 AM to 9:00 pM, every week except on Fridays. So during the rest of the week, I feel like I am alone all the time. Every day, I do the same thing, get out of school and go home. The house would feel so empty and silenced. Just me with my soul normally feeling bored and depressed It's all that comes to my mind when there is no one to talk to. Mondays for me are the longest I feel that the day won't even end from all the chores I have to do; taking out the trash , washing the dishes to making dinner. • 10. 123 Test Reflection For the 123 Test, my results showed that my openness to experience is low, my conscientiousness is very low, my extraversion is very low, my agreeableness is high, and my natural reactions are very high. The descriptions given to me included down–to–earth, spontaneous, reserved, compassionate, and prone to worry. I think that the test describes me pretty well, however I feel that my score on conscientiousness should have at least been in the mid range. I also think that the test is valid and tests what it is supposed to. I don't think the test is reliable in the sense that a person can choose whatever choice they want. I also think that sometimes a person may make different choices, especially on questions that were harder for the test taker to answer. My score on the Psychology Today test gave me a 47 on a scale of 100 for my success orientation. ...show more content... I feel that these scores pretty much match how I actually am. I think I am a bit more organized than the test concluded but the other results were pretty accurate. I think that the test is valid in what it wanted to test, however like the other tests, I think that the reliability is low because sometimes people's answers can change on a day–to–day basis for some of the questions. I think that the three tests supported some of the thoughts that I already had about my personality. The 123 Test and the Big Five test were pretty accurate, however I did not agree with the description given for the Psychology Today test. I think that the test was not beneficial because it gave a score that was only based on scoring above or below the 50th percentile. That means that scores like mine that were at 47 were not as accurate to my actual personality as they could Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Whether it's on the street or off–roading, biking is a pastime that almost everyone enjoys. However, if you're new to biking, or just haven't had much experience doing it, you may be wondering how to get started. While you could just theoretically buy the first bike you see, if you want to have a comfortable experience, it's important that you choose the right set of wheels. This bike has 21 speeds to choose from, so you get the best ride possible. Durability is the name of the game with this bike, as it is made with 6061 Double Butted Aluminum. What that means is that the metal is thicker around the joints for extra strength, while the tubing itself is thinner so you get the least weight possible. Overall, this is one of the lightest and strongest bikes available from Vilano. This model also comes with alloy caliper brakes. What this means is that the brakes press against the rim of the tire to slow you down, as opposed to disc brakes, which press against a metal disk in the center of the tire. The brakes are controlled via triggers on the handlebars. For your riding comfort, the Vilano also has a thick padded seat that's designed for casual street Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Machiavelli's Ideas More than anything else we've read this year, Machiavelli is extremely difficult for me to respond to. I find myself agreeing with a lot of his ideas (at least I think I agree with his ideas, his writing jumbles my head around), and most of my comments come from a place of unwarranted rage. One complaint I have is that I think he goes back on his word a lot. The thing is, Machiavelli shoves so much information down your throat every sentence that everything I've read kind of melds together in a strange sort of limbo. For example, I'm fairly sure he talks about the importance of being kind and virtuous in the first reading we did, but in the second a lot of it is about being merciless. Maybe those were supposed to apply to different situations....show more content... That means that I mostly put everything in context of American history, which probably isn't what Machiavelli would want seeing as his whole book is supposed to be on principalities. Making a connection to some other historical event really helps me out. For example, normally I would read the line, "...The enemy will as a matter of course burn and pillage the countryside when he arrives..." and I would've just been really bummed out by it (Machiavelli 37). But, in Cold War we just watched a documentary on the Vietnam War. And so, for the rest of the passage I kept drawing parallels between whatever the hell Machiavelli was talking about and the Vietnam War. When Machiavelli said, "So the subjects will identify themselves even more with their prince, since now that their houses have already been burned and their lands pillaged in his defence they will consider that there is a strong bond of obligation on his part," I got really excited because that's exactly happened in Vietnam after the U.S. firebombed them a million times (Machiavelli 37). It's comforting to know that Machiavelli isn't just spewing a bunch of terrible advice and making the reader fall for it. I really like the book and the ideas so far, I just wish that someone could put it in some kindergarten–level terminology so I could read Get more content on HelpWriting.net

During the 21st century, in the United States there are many good ways the youth can help make the world a better place. Trying to help make the world a better place is very important because one needs the world to live on. One needs to be resourceful with natural resources. I have recycled, picked up trash, participated in community events, and fundraised for important organizations and sports. In the...show more content... There are many great effects to trying to make the world a better place. Recycling will affect the world in a positive manner because the things one no longer need can be useful to others and it helps lower pollution. Picking up litter in one's neighborhood is very important because, with a nicer community, more people will want to come live there. Participating in community events, not only helps the community as a whole by cleaning it up and donating money, but it also helps the world. Fundraising for important organizations helps the world because organizations like Walking For Cancer helps fundraise for those who can't afford treatment. Destination Imagination helps encourage children's imaginations and thought process. D.A.R.E. helps keep children off drugs and the children are the future of the world. Sports are also very important because they give children a passion to focus on. Reducing bullying will impact the world in a positive way because it will allow students to do their best in school if they aren't constantly worried about what they look like and be more focused on their work. A simple smirk or rude comment can totally ruin someone's day and make them feel terrible about themselves. More trees in the world would help with drought and heat exhaustion because they provide shade and keep the air clean. • 14. My Experience For My Academic Experience SERVICE EXPERIENCE On the surface, making the world a better place is an intimidating and overwhelming task. Social service, volunteerism, and community engagement have shaped my undergraduate career and continue to guide my graduate and professional aspirations. While I highly value my academic experience, I have found my extracurricular involvement opportunities to be invaluable in solidifying the importance of small steps to incite large scale change. On campus, I have found leadership roles on the executive board of the suicide prevention student organization, Ask.Listen.Save., as the outreach coordinator and president as well as an intern with our affiliate, the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, I have gained professional and life skills such as organization, delegation, and teamwork through planning and leading meetings and overseeing the executive board. Through events on campus and talking with people one on one, I have had the opportunity to help members of the campus community to feel safe talking about their struggles and reaching out for help. During my time with this organization I have come to realize the impact of simply being there to listen to somebody who is having a tough time. I accept that I cannot fix somebody's problems, but I can be there as an effective support. Off campus, I have found further opportunities in different forms of crisis work. • 15. Human Rights And Social Work Starting with Jane Adams in the early 20th century, human rights were at the forefront of her work with the Hull House which helped establish the social work profession as we know it (Healy, 2008). The Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the values set and regulated by the NASW share a common theme focusing on, dignity, self–determination, and improving the quality of life for everyone. Social workers are on the forefront of advocating for, and creating social change, and justice (NASW, 2015). Social work constantly challenges racism, discrimination and the inhumane treatment of vulnerable people. Internationally the social work profession attempts to link vulnerable populations with basic needs like, food, healthcare, housing, and equality all which reflect article 25 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (United Nations, 2014). Social workers wear many hats, and have established roles in many institutions like hospitals, schools, nursing homes, acting as liaisons between the establishments and individuals who seek their services (Reichert, 2007). 2. What social work practices might constrain human rights? The Social work is a profession not only rewards merit, but there is also a monetary gain. The majority of qualified social workers are employed by local government agencies which can create a conflict of interest because of their obligation, and commitment to their employer. He believed that everyone is capable of solving their own problems if the right conditions are provided. He proposed that the therapist's role was to listen to clients, be empathic with them, and accept them for who they were rather than offer deep interpretations of unconscious material or mechanistically change behaviors. He emphasized the real relationship between the therapist and the client rather than the transference relationship, and suggested that therapists should be open and genuine with their clients. I would like to describe here two of these occasions that stuck to my mind the most. In the first situation I found myself almost forcing myself to try to empathize with one of my flat mates. I believe that reason for it was that I was personally involved in this problematic situation, felt hurt and upset with this person. My flat mates name is Mike, he is 43 years of age, and he is single. He lives in the shared house and is a sociable person who likes to go out with his friends, he likes to play tennis and he is a big football supporter. • 17. In the short story, "Bartleby the Scrivener," Herman Melville employs the use of plot, setting, point of view, characterization, and tone to reveal the theme. Different critics have widely varying ideas of what exactly the main theme of "Bartleby" is, but one theme that is agreed upon by numerous critics is the theme surrounding the lawyer, Bartleby, and humanity. The theme in "Bartleby the Scrivener" revolves around three main developments: Bartleby's existentialistic point of view, the lawyer's portrayal of egotism and materialism, and the humanity they both possess. The three developments present the lawyer's and Bartleby's alienation from the world into a "safe" world of their own design. The lawyer, although an active member of...show more content... Melville's choice to employ a simple plot to reveal complex characterizations of humanity shows the author's plan to make the reader interpret the theme for himself or herself. Without a complex plot, the author must use other elements of fiction to uncover variations in the lawyer's and Bartleby's outlook on society. The walls of Bartleby conflict with the lawyer's walls, but both are designed to keep both the lawyer and Bartleby safe from the outside world. The lawyer's safe haven is where his office is: Wall Street. On Wall Street, the lawyer knows exactly what society expects of him. He is content with himself and his sense of conventionality and considers himself a representative human being. The lawyer considers Bartleby to be representative of humanity. The lawyer states, "For both I and Bartleby were sons of Adam" (Melville 143). The lawyer originally places himself and Bartleby in the same context of society. However, the lawyer seems to recognize, at the conclusion of the story, the universality of Bartleby's plight. Leon F. Seltzer indicates, "Not simply Bartleby but everybody is essentially isolated in the prison of self and can break out of it only through illusions, whose fragility constantly subjects them to destruction" (119). Bartleby's safe haven is also within the lawyer's office on Wall Street. Bartleby haunts the law office and is described as a ghost.
