2. INTRODUCTION
E-LIS is a subject based global level digital archive
related to library information science and technology related
discipline.
It is a centralized disciplinary repository also an abbreviation
for E- prints in library and information science. It is the world
largest open archive.
E-LIS is a part of the research in computing, library
and information science (RCLIS) project. Now E-LIS is the
biggest repository in LIS and now it has 12480 papers. E-LIS
is the first international e-server in this area.
3. BACKGROUND
E-LIS is an international, open access archive established in 2003 which
is related to librarianship, information science and technology and
related disciplines in keeping with the objective of the e-print movement
and free online scholarship (fos).
at the beginning it was partly funded by spanish ministry of culture and
hosted by the aepic team of server of Italian consorzio interuniversitario
lombardo per elaborazione automatica (CILIA).
4. The aim of E-LIS is to serve the
international LIS community
CONCEPT and provided a place where all
authors can deposited their
documents & contribute to the
world wide dissemination of
knowledge through open
archive.
E-LIS is participated in global
endeavor by universities,
researchers', libraries,
publishers, editors and
readers. E-LlS provide multi E-LIS is not only serves LIS
lingual and multi-format scholars but also librarians
depositing facilities. and other information
professionals. It had more
than 5900 users from 90s
countries have depositing
documents in 37 languages.

6. CHARACTERISTICS OF E-LIS
There are certain characters of centralized archive such as E-LIS are
-Storage and distribution of data from a single location.
-Centralized accesses control over the supply and reuse of data
-Checking cleaning and processing of data according to standard criteria
-Cataloguing of the technical and subtensive properties of data for
information retrieval user support and the supply of data.
7. TECHENICAL FEATURES OF E-LIS
E-LIS based on OAI-PMH open access initiative protocol for
meta data harvesting which allow the public gather standardized meta data
from the repository and retrieve the documents if necessary.
• -E-LIS is hosted by AEPIC team of CILEA.
• -It uses JITA classification scheme of library and information science.
• -The software in E-LIS is GNU e-print archive.
• -Searching, browsing, facilities are available in quick, simple and advance.
• -It allows users to view the full list of meta data with the field labels of a
team.
• -It uses statistics are update monthly.
• -The basic meta data format used in E-LIS is Dublin core.
• -E-LIS uses protocol citations which facilitates to link which will seek the item
on the web.
8. E-LIS SUBMISSION POLICY
There are certain policies given below
• Author can self archive their work.
• Author him/herself responsible for the copy right of the article deposited.
• Author who wants to submitted a paper must registered in E-LIS to obtained
user ID.
• E-prints (docs) may return to the author for the modification if necessary.
• Submitted docs first appear for approval or rejection by E-LIS staff.
• Any types of pre-prints, post-prints, conferences papers, conference posters,
presentations news papers, book chapters, magazines articles related to LIS
can be deposited in E-LIS.
• Documents once submitted can not be removed from the archive.
• E-LIS support all languages to ensure the equality and intentionality.
• All the format in E-LIS archive are pdf, post script texts, HTML, MS Word and
DOC.
9. E-LIS Editorial
Team
E-LIS is supported by a team of editors
selected internationally on volunteer basis
all important matters and issues like meta
data issues, guideline and promotion of E-
LIS are discussed in mailing list and most of
the editorial works are done on online.
Librarians from the various countries
contribute to the editorial team they are
regional editors, country editors, cognitive
editor etc.
10. E-LIS Archive

11. E-LIS in International
E-LIS works to create a digital library which is freely available to the lis community and managed by an
international team of professional from different countries.

which contains 16 LIS paper in Australia.
