NUMBER THREE
JUNE 2013
ABOUT THE PROJECT
This project will be an opportunity to guide students to identify
their capabilities and skills and will help the organizations
establish a guidance methodology.
Most of the students who are on the edge of selecting their
ways for their future education are unsure and indecisive
about which occupation to choose and which school offers the
best options. Sometimes, the Vocational Guidance they
receive is inadequate; therefore, they don't know which career
opportunities they have in front of them. Any wrong decision
that they could take could affect their Life Long Learning
Process negatively. To avoid such situations, this project aims
to develop a methodology to guide students through a wide
range of opportunities for their further Vocational and/or
Educational Training.

2. 1-WHY IS VET
GUIDANCE
IMPORTANT?
Lifelong learning has major implications for career guidance,
and vice versa. The European Commission has recognised
this, making career guidance one of its six priorities in
implementing lifelong learning (Commission of the European
Communities, 2001). European countries have identified
numerous benefits that career guidance can have:
• It can improve the efficiency of education and
training systems (complex range of learning
opportunities, preventing dropouts and improve
graduation rates, contributes to higher motivation of
students as they are more likely to attend programs
linked to their interests, their capacities and their
aspirations …).
It can help meet labour market goals (better match
between supply and demand also by promoting deficit
professions, individuals that are satisfied with their
career choices/jobs are more likely to be motivated
and therefore productive …).
It can encourage social equality and inclusion
(career guidance services can raise the aspirations of
disadvantaged groups and support them in gaining
access to opportunities that might otherwise have
been denied to them …).

MOBILITIES
4th MOBILITY: LJUBLJANA
(SLOVENIA)
The 4th Meeting of GI VET partnership took place in
Ljubljana (Slovenia), from the 5th to the 7th of June 2013.
The first year of the partnership finished with the 4th
partnership
meeting that was held in the capital city of Slovenia, Ljubljana. During
these days partners and learners had a chance to visit the
SECONDARY SCHOOL OF TECHNICAL PROFESSIONS ŠIŠKA
that offers educational
programs as
Mechatronics, Electrical
and Computer
engineering, Intelligent
installations and
Renewable Sources of
energy. The school is
known for their practical,
transnational and
innovative teaching
approaches, for
example workshop
education “house in a
house”. While visiting we had a chance to see their own solar system
and power grind. Their students and staff are involved in different
competitions and international projects as well as in numerous
guidance activities aimed at primary school pupils who are about to
make their first career decision.
The second visit took place in VOCATIONAL INFORMATION AND
COUNSELLING CENTRE that operates within Slovenian
Employment service and offers career guidance service for two major
target groups, unemployed and youth. From the presentations
partners could learn more about career guidance process for youth,
transferring to upper secondary schools and different (computer)
tools/questionnaires thatare being used in the counselling process.
Guest speaker form SLOVENIAN INSTITUTE FOR VOCATIONAL
EDUCATION AND TRAINING presented national project
“LEARNING ACHIEVEMENTS PORTFOLIO IN VET SCHOOLS”
which is aimed to collection of documents regarding recognition of
formally and informally obtained knowledge, including work
experiences. Partners also participated in a PRACTICAL
WORKSHOP on Career guidance for students executed by
hosting organization (Kadis). At the end Italian partners presented
examples ofinnovative career guidance tools.
On the coordinators’ meeting we have done an overview of our past
