Galileo Galilei was one of the most influential scientists...
Galileo Galilei was one of the most influential scientists of the Renaissance period. He was a
mathematician, physicist, astronomer, a philosopher. He integrated the independent sciences of
math and physics, and unified them. The popular view of the world, due to the Church overall
power, at the time was Aristotle s theory that the the universe was geocentric or that the Earth was
at the center of the universe.. Galileo went against that common belief and declared to the world
that the Earth is not the center. This idea that humans are only a tiny speck in a boundless universe
and that they are not the center of this boundless universe frightened most religious leaders. The use
of a telescope to study the skies was an extreme influence on... Show more content on

In 1632, Galileo published his Dialogue Concerning the Two Chief World Systems, which clearly
defended heliocentrism and became incredibly popular. Galileo s argument was focused on his
belief that the Catholic Church has no right to be involved in scientific revolution. Galileo
believed the Church should not scrutinize the idea of a new scientific discovery or the idea of a
truth outside of what is interpreted through the holy scriptures. .The Catholic Church was
infuriated with the increasing popularity of his book and decided to retaliate and punish Galileo
for his actions. In a response to the mounting controversy, Galileo was placed on trial by the
Roman Inquisition. In 1633, he was gravely suspect of heresy and was sentenced to house arrest
for the rest of his life.
Galileo was influenced by many factors in his life including: His father s desire for him to
become wealthy and educated, his numerous discoveries found through his telescopes, and the
constant annoyance of the Catholic Church.Galileo s father s strong desire for Galileo to
become a wealthy doctor greatly influenced his education. Galileo s father was a musician,
which at the time was an occupation that did not pay very well. His father feared that Galileo
would be like him and live the same average life that he did, which is why he made sure Galileo
received a solid education. Galileo s education would start when he attends the University of Pisa
from 1581 to 1584. School quickly became bothersome

The Accomplishments Of Walt Disney
Introduction People are working hard to succeed their life, and achieve certain goals. Some people
have the ability to identify their skills and function them in a right way to gain profits. There are
some individuals who start from scratch to create a great accomplishment. Some examples of
ambitious people inspire the world to seek their purpose and reach a fascinating results like Walt
Disney. Walt Disney owns the biggest entertainment company, the Walt Disney Company, which
was named Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio. Thus, he is considered one of the greatest successful
businessmen in the history of entertainments.
Walt Disney as an Entertainment Maker Walt Disney s passion started from an early age when he
went to a theater to see Snow White. In 1919, he worked in commercial business for a period of
time where he found out that he is really talented. In 1923, he established Disney Brothers Cartoon
Studio with his brother Roy, and he animated what is shot by a secondhand camera. The admirable
story of Walt Disney (Bio. , 2015) revolves around few words; innovation, imagination and
animation. An animation is basically defined as; a reproduction of movement that is created by
displaying a series of pictures or frames. The most commonly known type of animation is the
cartoons. The computerized animation, these days, is one of the key components of multimedia
presentation.
Barrier M. (2006) mentioned that Disney s aims, when he was starting out as a filmmaker, were

Tobacco Essay
THIS IS A PAPER REGARDING THE TOBACCO INDUSTRY (3 PAGES). The Killing
Business? This paper is about the tobacco industry. Some would find that the label killing business
is very appropriate. Others would say that that name is misleading and inaccurate. Biased, I am
not. So we will look at the issue in regards to the industry from both consumer and producer points
of perspective with fairness and equality in reach. With an open mind now, let s peer closer at the
aftermath tobaccohas left us standing in. Something has to get a non tobacco user to try his/her first

But lowering the tar also meant lowering the nicotine because this method affected both aspects.
So the industry generated a new breed of tobacco plants. The nicotine levels of the new flue cured,
Y 1, and rustica tobacco plants were 6% of the plant s body weight. Before, tobacco only had 2%
3.5% nicotine. Chewing tobacco and snuff products have always contained fiberglass in them.
These flecks of glass pierced gums and lips to allow nicotine to flow into the pores making it
more addictive. The industry has since made the fiberglass obsolete and replaced it with actual
nicotine crystals. These crystals penetrate the gums and dissolve inside of your jaw. Basically,
consumers are now getting approximately double the nicotine in smoking and smokeless
tobacco than had previously. The government has passed laws that prevent youth from
purchasing tobacco goods. The legal age for acquirement of tobacco is 18. Does that in itself
ward away potential teen tobacco users? To a certain degree, it works very effectively.
Consumers under the legal age have no way around this law. However, there are some marketers
that sell to underage tobacco users. But the industry is hardly to blame for that. The President
devised a plan to raise prices of tobacco over the next four years in an attempt to discourage
tobacco consumers. Realistically, no proposition such as that could ever be more ignorant and
bemused. This scheme only gives rise to the industry. More profit for the tobacco unit

Quantitative Analysis For Business Class Studying For Week...
The Learning Team A (LTA) in the Quantitative Analysis for Business class studying for Week
Four was both interesting and challenging for the team members. The members were comfortable
and uncomfortable with different and similar topics (steps in testing research hypothesis,
comparing means of two or more groups, and calculating the correlation between two variables).
LTA reflects back over the previous weeks studying and week s four topics. LTA member also
expresses and relates how the application is applied in his/her chosen field.
Previous Week s Reflection
Overall LTA discovered statistics consist of calculating everyday numerical data. Statistics consist
of classifying, analyzing, summarizing, organizing, and interpreting numerical data, according to
(McClave, Benson, Sincich, 2011, p. 3). The team also discovered the following from the authors
among other pertinent information: Descriptive statistics. Discovered how to use numerical and
graph methods. Inferential statistics. Discovered how to use sample data to make predictions,
estimates, decisions, and other generalization regarding a larger set of data. Fundamental elements
of statistics. (1) Experimental units, (2) Population (3) Variable, (4) Samples, and (5) Statistical
inference.
During week four, LTA discovered the steps involve in testing research hypothesis and how to
accomplish this task. The learning team discovered the importance and how to prove and disprove
three research questions. The

Comparison Of The Movie And The Book
Watching the movie is so much more interesting, and it grabs your
imagination by the hand. There are not that many things that are different in the
movie. In fact the movie describes what?s going on a little better than the book.
Basically the book seems like an out line of the whole story and the book gets
into details a little more.
In the beginning of the book it talks about Tad going to bed and how
he?s a little nervous because he thinks there is a monster under his bed. His
father tucks him into bed and says good night. About 10 minutes later Tad
wakes up screaming his head off saying he sees a monster in his closet. The
author doesn?t even describe what ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Tad plays with Cujo for the first time. I
mean there are only small little things that are different in the book and movie.
Like when Tad wakes up the next morning there are couches and books in front
of his closet door (in the movie). Another comparison would be when Vic?s
wife cheats on him with Steve Kemp. Book talks about Steven a little, doesn?t?
really get into detail. It doesn?t talk about what he looks like or what attracts
her to him. The only really big change that is really noticeable would be when
Cujo attacks Vic?s wife and his son Tad, while they are still stuck in the car.
The book talks about how Cujo does run into the car and how he transfers
rabies into the mother but what it doesn?t talk about is how violent Cujo is. He
was going nuts trying to get into the car. He would run so hard into the car it
would knock him out, he?d get right back up again and run straight for the car.
Being a mother and watching our child die is hard enough but knowing that
your going to die of rabies is even harder. After she barely cracks the car door
open, Cujo frantically jumps in the car on top of her biting and tearing up her
leg. The only thing she could do is bang Cujo over the head with her thermos.
That?s the biggest difference between the book and movie.
Reading books isn?t the greatest thing in the world for me, but when

The Movement Of Protest Movement Essay
The Movement of Protest
1)It was a decade of extremes, of transformational change and bizarre contrasts: flower children
and assassins, idealism and alienation, rebellion and backlash. For many in the massive post World
War II baby boom generation, it was both the best of times and the worst of times. (K. Walsh)
a.Historians nostalgically described the sixties as a counterculture and revolution in social norms,
such as: art, sexuality, formalities, and philosophy. The decade was also called the Swinging
Sixties because the relaxation of social taboos relating to sexism. Challenging the idea that a good
citizen conforms to gender norms and heterosexuality.
b.One can blatantly observe this in the art of the time; especially when referring to feminism in
dance.
i.Examples relating to modern dance.
c.Thesis: Exploring dance as a form of female protest, rebellion and counterculture in the 1960s.
2)A deeper look at cultural context and influences of countercultural.
i.Historical events that set up trends of counterculture.
1.Baby boomers experienced the Space Race, nuclear threats, antiwar movement, civil rights
movement and the assassinations of John F. Kennedy and the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.
2.The events of such as the Cold War and the civil rights movement encouraged women to rethink
the idea that their primary service to the nation rested in their roles as wives and mothers. For

Agent Wind Erosion Research Paper
The agent of erosion known as Agent wind is very dangerous and affects us all in many different
ways through many different means. Agent wind picks up silt, sand, dust, and other types of small
particles and causes one of two very distinct types of weathering. Abrasion Is where wind erosion
picks up sediments and uses the force of windto knock it repeatedly against the rock. It creates
weird multiple holes or little scratches along the rocks surfaces. Deflation is where agent wind
simply picks up sediments like the ones listed earlier. Agent wind then collectively moves them
and then proceeds to drop them off at another location. This process is known as deposition. As far
as what part of the world is affected by wind erosion, wind erosion

Antarctica Ice Sheet Trends
The ice sheets in Antarctica and Greenland are changing rapidly and are contributing significantly
to sea level rise (Church et al., 2011). In Greenland, surface melt leading to runoff and enhanced ice
discharge from outlet glaciers have contributed in equal amount to the mass loss of the ice sheet
(van den Broeke et al., 2009). In Antarctica, ice dynamics has been the dominant contributor to the
mass loss in recent decades, but surface mass balance signal exhibits inter annual fluctuations large
enough to significantly modulate the mass loss. In the mountain glaciers of Alaska, Canada,
Patagonia and others, surface mass balance (SMB) processes dominate the total mass balance
(Larsen et al., 2015). Projecting the contribution of ice sheets... Show more content on

1930 through the early 2000 s. Creators, facts, and closed are main points in the history of drive
in movie theaters. Richard Hollingshead made history June 6, 1933, when he opened the first
drive in movie theater in Camden, New Jersey (Cohen). Richard was a sales manager at his dad s

War Destruction on Combatents in Kurt VonnegutВґs...
The effects of war are devastating for those who experience it. The wake of destruction left behind
by bloody conflicts can traumatize any onlooker; those who face the fighting firsthand are often
permanently affected by the horrors they witness. Frequently, combatants require special treatment
for the psychological torment that can follow intense fighting. Kurt Vonneguts Slaughterhouse Five
explores the harmful effects of isolation, imprisonment, and oppression through a soldier s
perspective. Sections of Vonnegut s novel take place during World War II: the bloodiest war
ever fought. The story follows Billy Pilgrim, a young man who is forced to fight overseas
despite the rough conditions he will face. Billy joins his regiment as it [is] in the process of
being destroyed by Germans (Vonnegut 40), and Vonnegut s description of Billy accentuates his
lack of preparation. He is given very little combat training, ill fitting clothes, and is not even
supplied with a firearm (Vonnegut 41). From the beginning, Billy is isolated from the other
troops in a way because he is not as well prepared as the others. During a scouting mission after
the devastating Battle of the Bulge, Billy is separated from his group and left with another scout,
Roland Weary. This is when Billy s physical isolation begins, chronologically speaking. Billy and
Roland inadvertently separate themselves from their squadron and begin to wander around behind

I can easily talk someone else up, but I always feel a little uncomfortable trying to market
something I am promoting like my own company. I was asked to speak on an Entrepreneurial
Panel for the Pace E Lab in New York City last Thursday. This was a great opportunity to market
my company as well as network with peers, alumni, businessmen, and other entrepreneurs. I
spoke with many people before the panel and explained in more detail what my company is and
how it came about. The most important connection I made that evening was with the

The Corruption Of India And The Problem Of Abortion In India
All around the world, an abortion is a very controversial topic and is talked about immensely. In
America, when you hear people talk about an abortion, you hear them make a big deal about it. On
the other hand, within the Hindu religion in India, that is a different story. The first problem that
arises with regard to an abortionin India is how differently Hinduwomen are treated in comparison
to Hindu men. As a whole, the government of India is trying to control the people and the
population of the country by controlling the female to male sex ratios. As stated in the article
Sexuality, caste, governmentality: contests over genderin India by Nivedita Menon, the government
is trying to cut down the population for the development of the country. As they are trying to do
this, they are diminishing women and the rights that they have. The concern that the government
should have should not mainly be what the women and their bodies and the lives that they live,
but woman as key to the stability and reproduction of society and the patriarchal family. As
stated in the article, the population rise might not be a problem caused by women. It might not
be a female problem because the sex ratio was at an all time low for women as the ratio was 933
females per 1000 men in the 2001 census. One of the main reasons that the sex ratio for women
has gone down is because of the widely practiced selective abortion of female foetuses.
Secondly, some people might be wondering what an

The Role of P2X Receptors in Nociception
Introduction
Nociception is the sensation of pain which is normally a warning signal to brain in respond to a
potential hazard. Generally noxious stimulations are detected by specialised high threshold sensory
neurons, which are refer to nociceptors. The signals are then transferred to an electrical potential
and conducted to the brain via spinal cord. However sometimes abnormal nociception can lead to a
moderate to severe pain although a noxious stimulus is missing. This kind of pain are usually
trigger by nerve injury, while the pain sensation remains after the tissue had been healed.
Although the prevalence of neuropathic pain is not significant, about 7% to 8% of the European
population is affected, and about 5% are suffering severe pain (Torrance et al., 2006; Bouhassira
et al., 2008). Normally the neuropathic pain is induced by injury of somatosensory nerves, and
the pain remains after the tissue being healed. It can bring abnormal nociception while noxious
stimuli are missing, which called dysesthesia. Beside, pain can be triggered by non painful
stimuli, which is called allodynia). Many research has linked the neuropathic pain to neuronal
damages where endogenous ATP being released. Therefore purinergic receptors that can respond
to ATP are involved. In this essay, after a brief introduction of P2X receptors, the role of
microglial P2X4 and P2X7 in neuropathic pain will be discussed.
Purinergic receptor can be divided into two families based on their different

Are Foster Homes Harmful For Kids
Marcellia was born to a drug addicted mother who was unable to properly care for her and her
siblings. They were placed in foster care when she was 10 years old, and Marcellia remained in
the system until she aged out at 19. During those nine years, she was separated from her biological
brothers several times, neglected, and placed in homes with, as she states so simply, no love.
Marcellia s situation is not uncommon in the foster caresystems though. Foster homes neglect and
separate kids/teens. Many foster kids end up never see their family again. This issue is a highly
debated subject. Some argue that foster homes are fine just the way they are, while many debate
how foster homes are harmful for kids/teens in the system. Despite what some may say, foster
homes are harmful for kids because they don t prepare kids to deal with future real life obstacles

Not only are so many children are being neglected, but the kids aren t being prepared to help
children develop skills and knowledge that will help them get the education they need. Skeptics
may say that foster homes are fine as they are or that they ve changed , but truth is that foster
homes don t really care and haven t taken any action to help the kids/teens. After all, most
children are not being helped or supported mentally/emotionally, and most of the kids have been
known to struggle from PTSD. If we are able to speak up for these children/teens, or help foster
homes improve, we must provide different ideas for solutions and let our voices be heard. For
example, giving kids a permanent family and love is a way to heal the kids/teens. So for children

An Analysis Of Lucky Jim By Kingsley Amis
Entitled and Not Entitled In Lucky Jim, by Kingsley Amis that Dixon is the one that gets
everything he wants. It might not seem that he is getting what he wants at the beginning. It is
not like that because yes he was dating Margaret. She wanted to kill herself because Dixon was
not being with her or treating her like she wanted to be treated. Which during those hard
moments he was going through it was just like a test in life for better to come in a way. Having
to be entitled makes kids or people very selfish. For example there is nine ways that you know
your child has an issue or is entitled. They can not handle disappointments, expect a prize when
they are behaving good, feels that rules do not have to apply to them, constantly wants
more, blames others when it is their fault, and expects to be rescued when they have a problem.
It is like when kids feel that are better than any other kids or people. Being entitled is something
it seems that does not happen to him. Eventually it does though he has a girl that is one of the
biggest things that makes him feel good at first. Then seeing his girl being obsessed with him
makes him alil uncomfortable. He makes a move that gets a little away from her. Which yes she
pretends to commit suicide to get the attention. That is why he does not break up with her
feeling bad for her. Though people just feel bad for her of the way she acts. He is a poor guy
that struggles in his job well trying to keep his job. Gets frustrated really quick has a bad mood
sometimes. Amis says , Dixon knew all this , and very much better than Welch could hope to,
but he felt constrained to say: Yes , I see. I think living with you, Professor, and Mrs. Welch, must
have helped her a lot to get out of the wood (Amis 3). Shows that she is in good care or you can
say good hands. Dixon is still worried about her which make him a really good boyfriend, but
she wants more than that. Margaret wants him to be by herself but he really does not want to be
in that position because he lost those types of feelings for her. There is so much love for him that
he does not notice that it is there next to him asking to open the doors or him. He seems that no

The Music Of Ludwig Van Beethoven
Throughout the course of history there has never been a more influential, creative and versatile
composer as Ludwig Van Beethoven. If not for his ability to expand the way in which music is
created, played and heard, current music would lack the polyphonic sound that is needed in order
to create texture and depth. Beethoven is believed to be purely a classical composer. However, to
the contrary he can also be considered purely romantic. His compositions consisted of a form that
was never heard before and in turn inspired future artists to copy him. This form was believed to

Book Review of Liberty and Power Essay
Harry L. Watson, Liberty and Power;
The Politics of Jacksonian America
Hill and Wang, N.Y.
Review written by Richard Foust Book Review Harry L. Watson s book, Liberty and Power, The
Politics of Jacksonian America , takes an analytical look at America and her politics during the Age
of Jackson. Watson uses the economy and the ideological mindset of the people, to support a
powerful argument about the beginning of American political parties and their importance in
defining the political direction of the country. Watson argues that economic inequalities caused by
the Market Revolution and a threat to American liberty caused Americans to organize politically in
support of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The subsistence farmer, unable to compete, saw the Market Revolution as a threat to his liberty and
acted on this threat. Watson surmises that with this threat, politically active citizens were ripe for a
political party system that would protect their independence and liberty. Enter Andrew Jackson, who
appealed to those voters who felt threatened by the changing economic picture. Jackson and his
supporters believed that the Republican/Whig political party represented an elitist, aristocratic
government that would put the ever expanding economy and their own profit above the liberty
and good of the majority and it was the good of the majority that Jackson would rely on with great
success. He believed that the preservation of the Republic depended on the majority and the
majority was represented by independent farmers, who were profiting the least from the Market
Revolution. Believing that any government based on aristocracy could become corrupt, he felt that
that the best way was to treat all of the citizens alike and turn the rule of the country over to the
majority. This majority, with the fiery General Andrew Jackson as their leader, would create the
Democratic Party. Watson s focus on political parties, chapter 6, is an important part of this book.
Not only does it support his argument, but it also gives the reader

A Walk In The Clouds Review
In an era when harsh actuality of everyday life propels one to the realm of insanity, to a
pharmaceutically induced sleep, or to a dreadful state of existence, it is a pleasure for a fairytale
world to engulf an individual. Although for only a brief time of ninety minutes, that ninety
minutes is as refreshing as a relaxing soak in a warm tub of water. A Walk in the Clouds
provides the means of escape by way of a delightful romantic fantasy. At a time when movies
seem compelled to be asocial, when it is more effortless to smirk than to sigh, this film

Throughout A Walk in the Clouds he inserts his elderly wisdom and wit masterfully. One of the
most outstanding lines is when he tells Paul, who grew up in an orphanage, You are an orphan

beautifully done scene of detail and soft light), and at last, a loving kiss, Paul stops before the
point of no return. He tells her he is not free, and I won t hurt you. I am a die hard sentimentalist,

An Episode Of War Naturalism Essay
During the 1800 s, concept of realism, or portraying life accurately as possible, as well as the
concept of naturalism, or suggesting that events that take place are out of one s control, were both
very popular concepts that were portrayed in art and literature. In the passage, An Episode of War ,
both of these two concepts seem to be present, but the concept of naturalismseems to be more
accurately portrayed since it is emphasized consistently throughout the beginning, middle, and end
of the passage.
The idea of naturalism is clearly emphasized right when the lieutenant gets shot, as he realized
himself that he had no control over what had just happened to him. Turning his eyes from the
hostile wood, he looked at the sword as he held it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But at this instant, the men, the spectators, awoke from their stone like poses and crowded forward
sympathetically After getting shot, the people that saw what happened crowded around the

anything in their power to help him or reverse what had happened, since it was beyond their control.
There was no one to fight back with or no one to further protect, which was mainly the only thing
they could have done to help. All they could do was sympathize for the lieutenant and what had
happened to him, because the events that had taken place were beyond their control, and there was
nothing that they could do with their skills to have prevented it or made it better at the moment
than just feel bad for the lieutenant and the situation in which he was in. Naturalism is clearly
shown through the middle of the passage as the writer emphasizes how the people around the
lieutenant realized that the events that took place were beyond their control, and there was nothing
which they could have done either before or at the moment to prevent or better the current

Porter s 3 Competitive Strategies In The Case Of Etihad...
Porter s 3 generic strategies is a tool of measuring whether a company is following cost
leadership, differentiation or focus strategy approaches. In cost leadership approach, the company
is having a competitive advantage by offering competitive low prices. In the case of Etihad, the
company is not offering a low cost strategy because they want to be characterized as a prestigious
airlinethat has competitive advantage among others.
Differentiation is the factor where Porter analyzes the industry as having different offers from the
others. In the case of Etihad Airlines, it is differentiated from their competitors because of
differentiated prices, differentiated flight classes and offering. For example, the price of Etihad

Rhetorical Analysis Of Donald Trump s Speech
Donald Trump recently gave a speech discussing rising Radical Islamic Terrorism, immigration
from the Middle East, and a need for a rise in national security while Manchester, New
Hampshire on June 13th 2016. He centers his whole speech around discussing how bad a
President his opponent, Hillary Clinton, would be in difficult times. Trump graduated from the
Wharton School of Finance in 1968 with a bachelor s degree in economics, and has become a
very successful businessman. He s the Republican nominee for this upcoming presidential
election, and is a very controversial candidate and person. He has come under fire for many of
his views that he discusses in his June 13th speech. While Trump does make some agreeably
points, he renders his speech ineffective because of his heavy reliance on Clinton s opinion to
form his own. If Trump were to become President, his stance on important issues would need to be
reached with careful consideration, and not just based on doing the opposite of his opponents.
Trump s speech was written with the goal of discrediting Clinton.Trump discusses how he believes
that the rise in terror attacks on US soil is the direct result of the influx of immigrants from the
Middle East. He also believes that the rise in terrorism calls for a rise in national security and less

Environmental Assessment Of Wastewater Drains
Environmental Assessment of Wastewater Drains Outfalls Points into River Mouri at Khulna: An
Application of GIS S. Hasan , K. M. Hassan and S. K. Sarkar Abstract Rivers are the blessing on
earth as they serve humans with ample fresh water supply. The purpose of the present study focuses
on the combination of the GIS mapping, to indicate the status of pollution status in the sketch of
River Mouri, downstream to the wastewater outfalls. The GIS mapping of the eleven wastewater
study parameters reveals that the high concentrations of BOD5, COD, DO, Color, Turbidity, TDS
and TSS exceeding the permissible limits is present throughout the study portion of the river. In
addition, it highlighted the portions where only few parameters such as PH, Chloride, Nitrate and
Sulphate are deteriorating the riverine ecosystem. The GIS application in pollutant load assessment
of the study further indicates that although few pollutants, discharged into river are relatively low
in concentrations at one wastewater outfall point as compared to other but may have high pollutant
load that may leads to significantly higher ecological impacts. The possible application of this study
is for the decision makers to introduce optimum treatment engineering controls at points of
interests, prior to its disposal into River Mouri to prevent the ecological damages and protect human
health. Keywords: gis mapping, mouri river, water quality, wastewater outfalls 1.Introduction Water

Women And Leadership
Title:
Women and leadership female style or male style?
The Pitch:
The debate about the difference in leadership style of women and men continues to attract attention
since women make strides into leadership position dominated mainly by men. Men have long been
holding these leadership roles and have defined styles accepted by people. Therefore, it is not
surprising that women are usual the focus in terms of the discussion on gender difference in
leadership styles. There seems to be great disagreement about the behaviour of women and men
actually performing such roles (Eagly, 2001). This disagreement on this focus can be divided into
two groups. One is the no difference camp, who commonly agreed that there are few differenced
in the leadership style of female and male leaders. The other is the gender stereotypic camp who
believed the existence of crucial differences in the leadership style between both (Alvesson, 2009).
Leadership style is usually viewed as relatively stable patterns of behavior that are represented by
leaders. In the circumstance of leadership, agentic and communal features seem especially relevant.
For example, agentic features such as independent, dominant and competitive are more attached to
men than to women. While communal features such as helpful, kind, gentle, sympathetic and
personal sensitive are strongly occupied by women than men (Eagly, 2003). In addition, according
to Eagly and Johannesen Schmidt (2001), the difference between agentic and

How Diversity Is A Unique And Beautiful Final Project
Puzzle My World is the lesson that I will teach to kindergarten students in Social Studies. The
Big Idea in my conceptual lesson plan is Diversity ; how the ideas of many different people and
cultures can come together to make something wonderful. I plan on basically making a puzzle of
all the different kids who each put their original ideas and personalities on each puzzlepiece to
make it a very diverse and beautiful final project. I believe this will help kids understand that
diversity is a wonderful part of living in America, because no two people are exactly the same. I
was inspired by this because of the art piece I saw that showed many different colored triangles
that all fit together to make one wonderful work of art. When I saw it, it instantly reminded me of
a classroom, or a family. After realizing this I believe that this specific lessonwill be very beneficial
in teaching diversity. The TEKS involved will be 113.11 (A1, A5). TEKS 113.11 A1 states

It was conventionally used in Noir films to represent the dark overtones of the society. It is used
as a motif in Pleasantville for the majority of the beginning of Jennifer and David s adventure (until
things start to change, that is). This is especially significant with all the subtle implications and
allusions to a Nazi style dictatorship. For example, the burning of books is reminiscent of that in
1936 when the German government burnt all books which would oppose its rule, in fear that the
society it governed would think of rebelling.
Big Bob is the obvious ruler, as he is almost always seen with a low shot, making him look big and
powerful to the audience. Bob s situation is similar, burning books to stop changes occurring.
Books are seen as works of art which are derived from the imagination of thinking people. Bob s
censorship practices extend to the prohibition of Mr Johnson from using colours to paint (that is,
from using the full extent of his imagination) in his Code of Conduct. In this way, he is much like
the German government in the 30s. However, he wants to continue his rule without any violent
opposition; only pleasantness . There is irony however, as there is vandalism and disruption when

Similarities Between Beowulf And Katniss
You probably never thought about it, but epic and contemporary heroes can contain similar
qualities and characteristics, for example Katniss Everdeen from the Hunger Games and Beowulf
from Beowulf. Authors may be trying to bring back old tales of heroism into up and coming
generations. After carefully contemplating the abundance of courage, bravery, and leadership
portrayed by both Katniss Everdeen from the book the Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins and
Carolyn McCormick and Beowulffrom the epic poem Beowulf by Unknown. It is shown that both
characters identify with the same core values of what it truly means to be a hero.
The first characteristic shared by both Beowulf and Katniss show bravery throughout their stories.
Beowulf s bravery shines through when he defeats Grendel s mother. Who is said to be even more
stronger than Grendel himself. He was also dragged to the bottom of the ocean and instead of
giving up, he killed nine monsters. Finally Beowulf meets his big enemy Grendel and even

Comparison Of Hamlet s Views On Life And Death
Hamlet s Views on Life and Death The famous soliloquy To be, or not to be Shakespeare s
powerful words clearly illustrate Hamlet is mentally unstable. He is uncertain about death. Hamlet
is proved to be troubled in the play when he says To be, or not to be, that is the question: (III.i.63).
When Shakespeare uses the colon he illustrates Hamletis debating with himself on life and death.
He answers himself by saying Whether tis nobler in the mind to suffer/ The slings and arrows of

researched conducted. With this decision we reached the verdict that we would be doing the
Contemporary World Issues Project. Then after careful consideration we decided to focus the
research and project on the overall change in Italy s population, examining factors like migration,
ethnic marriages, foreign residents, and changing cultural values. We also wanted to cover the
overall change in Italian culture with the decline in traditional craft making processes and the
overall industrialization in the Italian manufacturing and agricultural sectors.
The project was started by dividing up the actual needed information into sections for each of the
participants to research on their own. We decided to gather up basic information about different
sectors of the Italian world/culture. We divided up into

Oil Persuasive Essay
The world s oil reserve is destined to deplete and expected to peak in 2020 as it is decreasing in
volume oil prices will go up, eventually leading to a plateau of oil based production.PErhaps As oil
goes 1 barrel will produce 5.8 million BTU, it takes 75 BTU to boil a cup of water. As a substitute
for oil I came to ethanol as a solution. if 1 barrel of oil produces 5.8 million BTU a barrel of
ethanol will produce 3.5 million BTU. Ethanol could provide roughly 2/3 of the world s energy.
But $770,000,000,000 for 11 days of world operation plus the additional 1/3 of energy needed to
fill the oil void would cost much more than oil. Ethanol is $70 per barrel versus Oil is $40 per
barrel. Is the extra cost worth the renewability? I don t believe... Show more content on

Its obvious non renewable resource that will not refill. Nearly everything in the modern world
is made with oil in some way. If the reserves deplete gas prices will go up and many people will
go without heat and electricity or cars. You can argue that we have time before the reserves
deplete but maybe not enough to find a better solution for energy and save oil for things that
require it unlike gas arger oil companies are lying about the vastness of their fields as a business
ploy to scare the competition away. We could make estimates like only half of what the oil
companies present but we wouldn t know because we can t measure. As citizens we cannot
measure the volume of an oil reserve because that information belongs to the oil company. The
only time that information will be released is when the oil is all dried up and the banks and
companies have made their profits. The question is can we find a renewable resource to replace oil
and find it by the billions of barrels. As it has been researched by Peakoil.com the world goes
through a billion barrels a day in less then 11 days. if that is correct the world will need to produce
at least 33,180,000,000 barrels of this material per year if it has the same efficiency rate as

The Effects Of Low Price Discounts On Purchase Propensity
Critical Review of:
Boomerang Effects of Low Price Discounts: How Low Price Discounts Affect Purchase Propensity
. (Cai, Bagchi, Gauri, 2016)
This article explores how the Boomerang effect , when applied to low priced discounts, can cause a
predisposition on purchase habits. The authors of this article, uses the Boomerang effect on two
different types of conditions (essential and nonessential purchases), that are primarily based on the
theory of purchase habits (Grewal, Monroe, Krishnan, 1998). This research argues that not all
products with low priced discounts receive the same purchase demand as an identical product with
no discounts applied to it. In addition, the authors also illustrate these effects through the use of ...

The data collected for this study can be considered highly reliable since the information came from
a current grocery market where there were no set variables to manipulate the overall results of the
data.
The second study seeks to analyse the basic boomerang effects by fashioning a scenario
(organising a party), for the total 114 participants. 52 of the participants were undergraduates
(61% being female), and 62 of the participant are MTurk panellist (38% being female) (Grewal,
Monroe, Krishnan, 1998). The partakers were given one small package of 5 plates ($2.50) and a
large package of 50 plates ($25). In this study the paper plates where supposed to be treated as a
nonessential purchase. Both packages where given a 10% discount rate, the small package of 5
plate costing $2.25 and large package of 50 plates costing $22.50. the participants where then
asked whether they would buy the dinner plates, how good the deal was, and how appealing the
price was. In a similar experiment conducted by (Darke Chung, 2005), a scenario was created for
the 82 random applicant. The aim for this experiment was to illustrate the importance of a discount
no matter the quality. On the other hand, the study produced by (Cai, Bagchi, Gauri, 2016)
concluded that smaller volume of low priced, none essential products has a lower purchase
likelihood.

economy and the population living in that country. Economical effect Financial Market There is no
doubt among economists that wars, terrorism and political instability have a significant negative
effects on the economies in which they take place. Recent economic literature investigates both the
consequences of political violence and the mechanisms that transform this violence into economic

The shortcoming is forcing Microsoft management to plan for a way to make up for the loss in
profit (Schenker, 2007, p.1). Electronic business is an external trend that has developed rapidly
changing the way in which businesses market their products. These changes have influenced
Microsoft s management to make plans to pursue the advanced abilities the Internet has created.
Microsoft s current goal is to achieve acknowledgement in the business arena of advertisement via
the online market. Microsoft (MSFT) aims to stitch together its software, ad serving, and media
properties to become a formidable online power with many of the marketing pieces that advertisers
look for as they embark on Internet ad campaigns (Schenker, 2007, p.1). Microsoft is currently
aligning a strategic and management plan which will appeal to its customers by using their
reputable name and powerhouse infrastructure. Innovation continues to affect different planning
functions of Microsoft. Innovation is defined as the introduction of new things or methods
(Dictionary, 2008). Therefore, planning must be calculated in a strategic, tactical and operational
manner in order to be effective. With strategic planning, Microsoft must think of long term goals
and strategies for its corporation (Bateman Snell, 2007). Tactical planning is developed to specify
goals and plans that target a majority of the corporation and its consumers (Bateman Snell, 2007).

Princess Bride Satire
Rob Reiner was the director and mastermind of The Princess Bride, a cult classic phenomenon
since its release in 1987. Reiner brought to light the most basic qualities of the fantasy genre
while also launching the careers of very many well known actors like Fred Savage of the Wonder
Years. Some of the other faces you may recognize are Cary Elwes, Mandy Pantikin, Wallace
Shawn, Andre The Giant, and Billy Crystal. The purpose of this filmwas to parody the fantasy genre
while also bringing the novel to life. Although the film had a very low budget maxing out at
16,000,000 it still managed to portray the story in a way that will continue to be loved by people of
all ages for years to come. In the beginning of the movie Fred Savage plays a young man who

My favorite is life is not fair, so many times while watching the film I thought to myself ugh that
is not fair. I was so aggravated that things never worked out as planned for the star crossed lovers
until I heard the conversation between the grandfather and the grandson, the grandfather looks at
the grandson and says Who says life is fair? Where is that written? and that really hits home,
although Buttercup and Wesley did not have a fair life so to speak they had a good life even if at
times it was hard. Another lesson that we can learn from The Princess Bride is we sacrifice for those
things we believe in. Inigo Montoya for example sacrificed years of his life to study swordplay
because he believed he would one day find the man who killed his father. Although his sacrifice
turned out positively the story of Inigo reminds that if we want something, we must constantly
sacrifice for the things we want no matter how frivolous it may seem. I also took away the lesson
that reputation may not always be the truth, take Fezzik for example he was a giant and seemed
very evil and scary then we get to know him and see things from his

A Kid s Guide To Divorce By Lorrie Moore Analysis
Sommer Abdelrahim
EN 106
Professor Csedrik
27 February 2015
Should We Just Ignore It? The divorce rate in the United States is higher than fifty percent today.
The divorce rate continues to increase in America due to many reasons, one of them being that
society today is a disposable society. Back in the day, when someone had a broken shoe he or she
would fix it, and if there was a problem with a couple s marriage, the two would work through it.
But today, it is easier to ignore the problem, throw away what we do not like anymore and move
on to the next, which is not the right way to live. In Lorrie Moore s A Kid s Guide to Divorce,
Moore writes about a child and his or her mother. The two are sitting in their living room watching
TV as they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She knew she wanted to be a writer but she wanted her parent s support which she never received.
But she ignored the problem and continued to do what she thought was right. She has published
plenty of books and short story collections which have made her very successful as a writer. A
Kid s Guide to Divorce is one of the short stories from her book called Self help . In Moore s real
life growing up, the elephant in the room with her and her parents was her career choice. In A
Kid s Guide to Divorce , the elephant in the room was the parents divorce and the mother s
unwillingness to address the problems and talk about the divorce with her child. But she still
makes it clear that she wants to know what her ex husband is doing (citation). The mom pretty
much wants to ignore the problem and although the child is protecting his mother from some
information which would hurt her feelings, he or she still deserves to know what happened and
what s next. The mom keeps ignoring the issue and continues to push it to the side which will
ultimately create a bigger problem and blow up in her face. It is clear that Moore gets her
inspiration for her writing from her own life and

Korean Creation Myth
Cheonjiwang Bonpuli
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Cheonjiwang Bonpuli (Hangul: мІњм§Ђм™• ліён’Ђмќґ, literally Chronicles of Cheonjiwang
) is a Korean creation myth, traditionally retold by shamans in the small island ofJeju Island. It is
one of the best known Creation myths in the Korean peninsula, and many key elements in the
Cheonjiwang Bonpuli can be found in the creation myths of the mainland.[1]
Plot[edit]
Unlike its title, the supreme deity Cheonjiwang (Hangul: мІњм§Ђм™•), whose name literally
means King of the Heavens and the Earth , serves mainly as a secondary character. The protagonists
of the myth are instead the two sons of Cheonjiwang, Daebyeol and Sobyeol.

Whatever he did, the iron ring did not get off Sumyeong Jangja s head. Finally, in despair,
Sumyeong Jangja ordered a slave to ease his pain by decapitating him. The surprised Cheonjiwang
murmured Amazing. and took the iron ring off Sumyeong Jangja s head. He then continued on his
way.
Cheonjiwang did not return to the sky immediately, but spent the night in Baekju Halmeom
(literally Grandmother Baekju ) s cottage. The bright eared Cheonjiwang heard someone brushing
her hair with a jade comb in the next room, and asked Baekju Halmeom who she was. Baekju
Halmeom answered that it was her only daughter, Chongmyeong Agi. (Hangul: мґќлЄ…м•„кё°,
literally Wise Girl ).
Chongmyeong Agi was fairer than the Seonnyeo, the heavenly fairies. Cheonjiwang asked both
Chongmyeong Agi and Baekju Halmeom if he could have sexual intercourse with Chongmyeong
Agi, and both decided to accept. Thus, that night, Chongmyeong Agi became Chongmyeong Buin
(Hangul: мґќлЄ…л¶Ђмќё, literally Wise Wife ), as she had experienced love.
Cheonjiwang stayed with his new wife for four days, then left. He gave Chongmyeong Buin two
gourd seeds, and advised her to name their children Daebyeol (Hangul: лЊЂлі„, literally Large Star
) and Sobyeol (Hangul: м†Њлі„, literally Small Star ).

How Did The Cuban Missile Crisis Change People s...
The Cuban Missile Crisis changed people s perspective on the Cold War. We came so close to a
nuclear war, that people, especially those who worked in the government, realized the true
implications of nuclear wars. This changed the course of the Cold War. To begin with, Fidel Castro,
a Communist revolutionary and politician, seized power in Cuba during a violent revolution in
1959 and aligned with the Soviet Union. Cuba was extremely dependent on military and economic
aid from the Soviets. Although the US believed that Cuba did not like Castro, most Cubans
actually supported his socialist regime, and believed it benefited their country. The US had already
tried to overthrow Castro s communist government during the Bay of Pigs invasion. However, they
had failed due to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

thirteen days, the world was brought to the abyss of nulear destruction and the end of mankind.
(High Noon in the Cold War) A hotline was established between Washington DC and the Kremlin
because when it comes to nuclear war, misunderstandings due to miscommunication are
unacceptable. The Soviet Union and the USA both though more critically about what nuclear war
would be like, and the two countries began working toward a nuclear test ban treaty. Kennedy was
unwavering towards the removal of the missiles from Cuba, but worked extremely hard to avoid
casualties of war even when everyone around him encouraged it. There was officially only one
casualty in the Cuban Missile Crisis. Even though the arms and nuclear buildup continued, the
world never came as close to nuclear war as they did in the Cuban Missile Crisis. Although the
Cold War was far from over, the Cuban Missile Crisis had shown the world the dangerous realities
of nuclear war, and how important it was to prevent

My Personality Test
Cambridge Dictionary defines personality as the special combination of qualities in a person that
makes that person different from others, as shown by the way the person behaves, feels, and thinks
. There are many tests out there that will help you piece together what personality type you have,
one of which I have taken recently. The personality test that I took on My Personality Test .com told
me I am an ISTJ (Introverted, Sensing, Thinking, and Judging) personality type. The main
characteristics associated with this personality type are that ISTJs are honest and direct, efficient
and systematic, dedicated and responsible, strong willed and decisive, organized and reliable,

Jude or small things like picking trash up off the ground. Due to these qualities, ISTJs are
viewed as reliable, trustworthy, honest, and likeable (My Personality Test). These are all the
good qualities associated with this personality type that are true for myself but there are some
qualities that can be considered weaknesses. Our weaknesses are that we always stick to our
own beliefs/values and trust our judgement above that of others (sometimes even if we are
wrong) which can make us inflexible or stubborn sometimes (My Personality Test). Sometimes,
if I think I am right, I will defend my answer or solution (even if I am actually wrong) to the point
where I know I am wrong, but I just do not want to admit it. We may be unaccepting or
judgmental sometimes toward other people due to differing values (My Personality Test). ITSJs
try to find other people who share our interests and/or try to get them to see things our way (My
Personality Test). Because we like to deal mostly with reason and logic, processing emotions may
be difficult (expressing ours and understanding others) (My Personality Test). ITSJs like routine and
structure in our daily life which may make dealing with or getting used to new/unusual situations
challenging or troublesome (My Personality Test). Tradition is important to us and changing it can
be discomforting and is one reason why using a tried and true method is preferable to

Descriptive Essay About A Friend
I see the school in the distance and quickly head towards the entrance, to be greeted by my one
and only friend; Ashley James. More like the only person in the whole world who actually talks to
me out of choice. Well, at least without ulterior motives. At first people used to crowd around me,
being the daughter of the Beta couple meant that there was a huge chance that I d be powerful and
definitely loaded.
After they found out I was an Omega they disappeared and Elena became the better/popular sister.
After that some people still crowded me in hopes that Elena would noticed them through me but
soon enough they realized her hatred for me and left. Funny how people change and judge you just
because of your position in the world and not you, for just being you.
Ashley is also one of the prettiest girls in school, with ginger hair that reaches down to her hips
and hazel eyes that are always full of cheer and happiness. I feel lucky to have her as a friend, even
if our personalities and tastes are vastly different.
While she likes to go out to parties and hang out with friends, I like to stay home and read. She
also goes shopping a lot, hence her fashionable outfit. Today she s wearing a ivory flower lace
crop top with a baby pink cross over pencil skirt. A simple gold band decorating her arm, our pack
s necklace matching perfectly. (A/N picture above, the necklace isn t the same but the clothes are)
As soon as your first shift happened either a necklace or ring was forged specifically for you. For
she wolves it was a necklace, it came in different shapes depending on your status. For Ash it was a
shield, her parents being warriors, it had the pack s symbol thinly craved in it, as well as her
initials in cursive. Males had a ring, it also carried the pack s symbol but instead of being craved
in it, it was added. Once you found you mate, a animal would appear along with your mate s
initials. How? You may ask yourself, for it had magic. The animal is your spirit, and you could shift
between that animal, a wolf, and a human. Rare times you would get more than one, although none
at all was common.
I shake my head and focus back to her, Guess what El? She beams at me. What? I ask dismissing
her happy mood,

Stteric Acid Purcules In A Monolayer
Purpose In this experiment, the different lengths of a steric acid molecules in a monolayer were
measured to determine Avogadro s number. The number of drops of stearic acid were calculated to
see how much it will take to make a monolayer on the surface of water on the dish. (Goldwhite and
Tikkanen)
Theory
The stearic acid is obtained from animal fats. The molecular formula is C17H35COOH and its
composed of a hydrophilic acid group, COOH, and a hydrocarbon chain C17H35. The long
hydrocarbon chain is like lubrication oil, because it does not have any affinity for water. In other
words, when the stearic acid becomes in contact with water it doesn t mix in water. The
hydrophobic chain floats upwards in a vertical position in the solution. (ChemSkills) When the
stearic acid was dropped to the water it spreads across the surface until it creates a monolayer, a
one molecule thick layer. The volume of stearic acid was calculated by determining the number of
drops used to create the monolayer on the dish by using the following equation:
V=(number of drops in monolayer Г—(1 mL)/(drops per mL)Г—(concentration of stearic acid)/(1
mL))/(density of stearic acid)
We calculated the surface areaof the dish to determine the length of one molecule by using the
following equations:
гЂ–Surface AreaгЂ—_dish=ПЂ(d/2)^2
Length_(stearic acid)=V_monolayer/гЂ–Surface AreaгЂ—_dish
The hydrocarbon chain is the part of the stearic acid molecules to form the monolayer of thickness

My Out Of Class Speaker Critique Assignment
For my out of class speaker critique assignment, I chose to go and attend the public lecture on
campus by Mr. Jim Davis, the creator of the Garfield the Cat syndicated comics. The event took
place in Sursa Hall inside the Music Instruction Building, and it lasted an hour and half long from
7:00 to 8:30 pm. This lecture occurred on Wednesday, February 15th. In his speech, Mr. Davis
talked about his youthful years, the initial challenges he faced, the business strategies he used, and
the wild adventure he endured throughout his comical Garfieldbusiness adventures. Regarding his

Otherwise, there seemed to be no significant or obvious distinction amongst members. The
attitudinal makeup of the audience was either neutral or positive, as Davis and his work are most
known for being lighthearted and joyful. Mr. Davis undoubtedly considered these elements when
he planned his lecture, as a large portion of it was centered around the nostalgic feeling the
Garfield comics give to the crowd (C3). Regarding the introduction used during the lecture, I felt
that it was more than effective in its explanation of Davis by showing what he is primarily known
for, what the audience was about to witness, and by creating a favorable atmosphere for the lecture.
To gain the audience s attention, a video demonstrating Mr. Davis s history and accomplishments
was played before he began his lecture. Overall, I thought that it was a moderately effective
introduction because it reinforced the interest of the audience, displayed the significance Davis has
to the illustration business, and presented his credibility as well known illustrator. For example, I
thought it was interesting that the administrator jokingly announced Davis as a man too important
to be talking a public lecture. On the other hand, however, I also thought that the introduction was
somewhat ineffective in that it never overviewed what was going to be talked about in the rest of
the lecture (C4). Concerning the support used in the speech, Mr. Davis relied heavily on qualitative

  • 2. Galileo Galilei was one of the most influential scientists... Galileo Galilei was one of the most influential scientists of the Renaissance period. He was a mathematician, physicist, astronomer, a philosopher. He integrated the independent sciences of math and physics, and unified them. The popular view of the world, due to the Church overall power, at the time was Aristotle s theory that the the universe was geocentric or that the Earth was at the center of the universe.. Galileo went against that common belief and declared to the world that the Earth is not the center. This idea that humans are only a tiny speck in a boundless universe and that they are not the center of this boundless universe frightened most religious leaders. The use of a telescope to study the skies was an extreme influence on... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 1632, Galileo published his Dialogue Concerning the Two Chief World Systems, which clearly defended heliocentrism and became incredibly popular. Galileo s argument was focused on his belief that the Catholic Church has no right to be involved in scientific revolution. Galileo believed the Church should not scrutinize the idea of a new scientific discovery or the idea of a truth outside of what is interpreted through the holy scriptures. .The Catholic Church was infuriated with the increasing popularity of his book and decided to retaliate and punish Galileo for his actions. In a response to the mounting controversy, Galileo was placed on trial by the Roman Inquisition. In 1633, he was gravely suspect of heresy and was sentenced to house arrest for the rest of his life. Galileo was influenced by many factors in his life including: His father s desire for him to become wealthy and educated, his numerous discoveries found through his telescopes, and the constant annoyance of the Catholic Church.Galileo s father s strong desire for Galileo to become a wealthy doctor greatly influenced his education. Galileo s father was a musician, which at the time was an occupation that did not pay very well. His father feared that Galileo would be like him and live the same average life that he did, which is why he made sure Galileo received a solid education. Galileo s education would start when he attends the University of Pisa from 1581 to 1584. School quickly became bothersome ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Tobacco Essay THIS IS A PAPER REGARDING THE TOBACCO INDUSTRY (3 PAGES). The Killing Business? This paper is about the tobacco industry. Some would find that the label killing business is very appropriate. Others would say that that name is misleading and inaccurate. Biased, I am not. So we will look at the issue in regards to the industry from both consumer and producer points of perspective with fairness and equality in reach. With an open mind now, let s peer closer at the aftermath tobaccohas left us standing in. Something has to get a non tobacco user to try his/her first cigarette, cigar, chew, or whatever it may be. But lowering the tar also meant lowering the nicotine because this method affected both aspects. So the industry generated a new breed of tobacco plants. The nicotine levels of the new flue cured, Y 1, and rustica tobacco plants were 6% of the plant s body weight. Before, tobacco only had 2% 3.5% nicotine. Chewing tobacco and snuff products have always contained fiberglass in them. These flecks of glass pierced gums and lips to allow nicotine to flow into the pores making it more addictive. The industry has since made the fiberglass obsolete and replaced it with actual nicotine crystals. These crystals penetrate the gums and dissolve inside of your jaw. Basically, consumers are now getting approximately double the nicotine in smoking and smokeless tobacco than had previously. The government has passed laws that prevent youth from purchasing tobacco goods. The legal age for acquirement of tobacco is 18. Does that in itself ward away potential teen tobacco users? To a certain degree, it works very effectively. Consumers under the legal age have no way around this law. However, there are some marketers that sell to underage tobacco users. But the industry is hardly to blame for that. The President devised a plan to raise prices of tobacco over the next four years in an attempt to discourage tobacco consumers. Realistically, no proposition such as that could ever be more ignorant and bemused. This scheme only gives rise to the industry. More profit for the tobacco unit ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Comparison Of The Movie And The Book Watching the movie is so much more interesting, and it grabs your imagination by the hand. There are not that many things that are different in the movie. In fact the movie describes what?s going on a little better than the book. Basically the book seems like an out line of the whole story and the book gets into details a little more. In the beginning of the book it talks about Tad going to bed and how he?s a little nervous because he thinks there is a monster under his bed. His father tucks him into bed and says good night. About 10 minutes later Tad wakes up screaming his head off saying he sees a monster in his closet. The author doesn?t even describe what ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Tad plays with Cujo for the first time. I mean there are only small little things that are different in the book and movie. Like when Tad wakes up the next morning there are couches and books in front of his closet door (in the movie). Another comparison would be when Vic?s wife cheats on him with Steve Kemp. Book talks about Steven a little, doesn?t? really get into detail. It doesn?t talk about what he looks like or what attracts her to him. The only really big change that is really noticeable would be when Cujo attacks Vic?s wife and his son Tad, while they are still stuck in the car. The book talks about how Cujo does run into the car and how he transfers rabies into the mother but what it doesn?t talk about is how violent Cujo is. He was going nuts trying to get into the car. He would run so hard into the car it

After she barely cracks the car door open, Cujo frantically jumps in the car on top of her biting and tearing up her leg. The only thing she could do is bang Cujo over the head with her thermos. The Movement Of Protest Movement Essay The Movement of Protest 1)It was a decade of extremes, of transformational change and bizarre contrasts: flower children and assassins, idealism and alienation, rebellion and backlash. For many in the massive post World War II baby boom generation, it was both the best of times and the worst of times. (K. Abrasion Is where wind erosion picks up sediments and uses the force of windto knock it repeatedly against the rock. It creates weird multiple holes or little scratches along the rocks surfaces. Deflation is where agent wind simply picks up sediments like the ones listed earlier. Agent wind then collectively moves them and then proceeds to drop them off at another location. In Greenland, surface melt leading to runoff and enhanced ice discharge from outlet glaciers have contributed in equal amount to the mass loss of the ice sheet (van den Broeke et al., 2009). In Antarctica, ice dynamics has been the dominant contributor to the mass loss in recent decades, but surface mass balance signal exhibits inter annual fluctuations large enough to significantly modulate the mass loss. The wake of destruction left behind by bloody conflicts can traumatize any onlooker; those who face the fighting firsthand are often permanently affected by the horrors they witness. Frequently, combatants require special treatment for the psychological torment that can follow intense fighting. Kurt Vonneguts Slaughterhouse Five explores the harmful effects of isolation, imprisonment, and oppression through a soldier s perspective. Sections of Vonnegut s novel take place during World War II: the bloodiest war ever fought. The story follows Billy Pilgrim, a young man who is forced to fight overseas despite the rough conditions he will face. Billy joins his regiment as it [is] in the process of being destroyed by Germans (Vonnegut 40), and Vonnegut s description of Billy accentuates his lack of preparation. He is given very little combat training, ill fitting clothes, and is not even supplied with a firearm (Vonnegut 41). From the beginning, Billy is isolated from the other troops in a way because he is not as well prepared as the others. • 17. The Corruption Of India And The Problem Of Abortion In India All around the world, an abortion is a very controversial topic and is talked about immensely. In America, when you hear people talk about an abortion, you hear them make a big deal about it. On the other hand, within the Hindu religion in India, that is a different story. The first problem that arises with regard to an abortionin India is how differently Hinduwomen are treated in comparison to Hindu men. As a whole, the government of India is trying to control the people and the population of the country by controlling the female to male sex ratios. As stated in the article Sexuality, caste, governmentality: contests over genderin India by Nivedita Menon, the government is trying to cut down the population for the development of the country. As they are trying to do this, they are diminishing women and the rights that they have. The concern that the government should have should not mainly be what the women and their bodies and the lives that they live, but woman as key to the stability and reproduction of society and the patriarchal family. As stated in the article, the population rise might not be a problem caused by women. It might not be a female problem because the sex ratio was at an all time low for women as the ratio was 933 females per 1000 men in the 2001 census. One of the main reasons that the sex ratio for women has gone down is because of the widely practiced selective abortion of female foetuses. Secondly, some people might be wondering what an ... Generally noxious stimulations are detected by specialised high threshold sensory neurons, which are refer to nociceptors. The signals are then transferred to an electrical potential and conducted to the brain via spinal cord. However sometimes abnormal nociception can lead to a moderate to severe pain although a noxious stimulus is missing. This kind of pain are usually trigger by nerve injury, while the pain sensation remains after the tissue had been healed. Although the prevalence of neuropathic pain is not significant, about 7% to 8% of the European population is affected, and about 5% are suffering severe pain (Torrance et al., 2006; Bouhassira et al., 2008). Normally the neuropathic pain is induced by injury of somatosensory nerves, and the pain remains after the tissue being healed. It can bring abnormal nociception while noxious stimuli are missing, which called dysesthesia. Beside, pain can be triggered by non painful stimuli, which is called allodynia). Many research has linked the neuropathic pain to neuronal damages where endogenous ATP being released. Therefore purinergic receptors that can respond to ATP are involved. In this essay, after a brief introduction of P2X receptors, the role of microglial P2X4 and P2X7 in neuropathic pain will be discussed. They were placed in foster care when she was 10 years old, and Marcellia remained in the system until she aged out at 19. During those nine years, she was separated from her biological brothers several times, neglected, and placed in homes with, as she states so simply, no love. Marcellia s situation is not uncommon in the foster caresystems though. Foster homes neglect and separate kids/teens. Many foster kids end up never see their family again. This issue is a highly debated subject. Some argue that foster homes are fine just the way they are, while many debate how foster homes are harmful for kids/teens in the system. After all, most children are not being helped or supported mentally/emotionally, and most of the kids have been known to struggle from PTSD. If we are able to speak up for these children/teens, or help foster homes improve, we must provide different ideas for solutions and let our voices be heard. It might not seem that he is getting what he wants at the beginning. It is not like that because yes he was dating Margaret. She wanted to kill herself because Dixon was not being with her or treating her like she wanted to be treated. Which during those hard moments he was going through it was just like a test in life for better to come in a way. Having to be entitled makes kids or people very selfish. For example there is nine ways that you know your child has an issue or is entitled. They can not handle disappointments, expect a prize when they are behaving good, feels that rules do not have to apply to them, constantly wants more, blames others when it is their fault, and expects to be rescued when they have a problem. It is like when kids feel that are better than any other kids or people. Being entitled is something it seems that does not happen to him. Eventually it does though he has a girl that is one of the biggest things that makes him feel good at first. Then seeing his girl being obsessed with him makes him alil uncomfortable. He makes a move that gets a little away from her. Which yes she pretends to commit suicide to get the attention. That is why he does not break up with her feeling bad for her. Though people just feel bad for her of the way she acts. He is a poor guy that struggles in his job well trying to keep his job. Gets frustrated really quick has a bad mood sometimes. Amis says , Dixon knew all this , and very much better than Welch could hope to, but he felt constrained to say: Yes , I see. I think living with you, Professor, and Mrs. Welch, must have helped her a lot to get out of the wood (Amis 3). Shows that she is in good care or you can say good hands. Dixon is still worried about her which make him a really good boyfriend, but she wants more than that. Margaret wants him to be by herself but he really does not want to be in that position because he lost those types of feelings for her. • 21. The Music Of Ludwig Van Beethoven Throughout the course of history there has never been a more influential, creative and versatile composer as Ludwig Van Beethoven. If not for his ability to expand the way in which music is created, played and heard, current music would lack the polyphonic sound that is needed in order to create texture and depth. Beethoven is believed to be purely a classical composer. However, to the contrary he can also be considered purely romantic. His compositions consisted of a form that was never heard before and in turn inspired future artists to copy him. This form was believed to have created the basis for music during the Romantic Era. Ludwig Van Beethovens ability to break compositional boundaries, ultimately created an everlasting sound because the forms and style in which he wrote in, are still used and applied to music today. Ludwig Van Beethoven was born on December 16, 1770. He grew up in the city of Bonn, Germany, which was in the Electorate of Cologne, a principality of the Holy Roman Empire (Bio). Beethoven had two younger brothers named Caspar and Johann. They however were not as musically inclined as young Ludwig. Their mother, Maria Magdalena van Beethoven, was a slender gentle woman while his father, was a mediocre court singer better known for his alcoholism than his musical abilities (Bio). Watson surmises that with this threat, politically active citizens were ripe for a political party system that would protect their independence and liberty. Enter Andrew Jackson, who appealed to those voters who felt threatened by the changing economic picture. Jackson and his supporters believed that the Republican/Whig political party represented an elitist, aristocratic government that would put the ever expanding economy and their own profit above the liberty and good of the majority and it was the good of the majority that Jackson would rely on with great success. He believed that the preservation of the Republic depended on the majority and the majority was represented by independent farmers, who were profiting the least from the Market Revolution. Believing that any government based on aristocracy could become corrupt, he felt that that the best way was to treat all of the citizens alike and turn the rule of the country over to the majority. This majority, with the fiery General Andrew Jackson as their leader, would create the Democratic Party. Watson s focus on political parties, chapter 6, is an important part of this book. The Pitch: The debate about the difference in leadership style of women and men continues to attract attention since women make strides into leadership position dominated mainly by men. Men have long been holding these leadership roles and have defined styles accepted by people. Therefore, it is not surprising that women are usual the focus in terms of the discussion on gender difference in leadership styles. There seems to be great disagreement about the behaviour of women and men actually performing such roles (Eagly, 2001). This disagreement on this focus can be divided into two groups. One is the no difference camp, who commonly agreed that there are few differenced in the leadership style of female and male leaders. The other is the gender stereotypic camp who believed the existence of crucial differences in the leadership style between both (Alvesson, 2009). I was inspired by this because of the art piece I saw that showed many different colored triangles that all fit together to make one wonderful work of art. When I saw it, it instantly reminded me of a classroom, or a family. After realizing this I believe that this specific lessonwill be very beneficial in teaching diversity. The TEKS involved will be 113.11 (A1, A5). TEKS 113.11 A1 states Students explore state and national heritage by examining the celebration of patriotic holidays and the contributions of individuals . (excl. concl. stages)In Pleasantville, the filmmaker, Gary Ross, conveys his attitude towards change through the characters of David and Jennifer who are transported into the 1950s sitcom Pleasantville. He doesn t necessarily demonstrate changeto bear a positive result; rather, he addresses that change is essential to the development of society and self and that it is important to understand and accept change. It is used as a motif in Pleasantville for the majority of the beginning of Jennifer and David s adventure (until things start to change, that is). This is especially significant with all the subtle implications and allusions to a Nazi style dictatorship. For example, the burning of books is reminiscent of that in 1936 when the German government burnt all books which would oppose its rule, in fear that the society it governed would think of rebelling. Big Bob is the obvious ruler, as he is almost always seen with a low shot, making him look big and powerful to the audience. Bob s situation is similar, burning books to stop changes occurring. Books are seen as works of art which are derived from the imagination of thinking people. Bob s censorship practices extend to the prohibition of Mr Johnson from using colours to paint (that is, from using the full extent of his imagination) in his Code of Conduct. In this way, he is much like the German government in the 30s. However, he wants to continue his rule without any violent opposition; only pleasantness . Authors may be trying to bring back old tales of heroism into up and coming generations. After carefully contemplating the abundance of courage, bravery, and leadership portrayed by both Katniss Everdeen from the book the Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins and Carolyn McCormick and Beowulffrom the epic poem Beowulf by Unknown. The first characteristic shared by both Beowulf and Katniss show bravery throughout their stories. Beowulf s bravery shines through when he defeats Grendel s mother. Who is said to be even more stronger than Grendel himself. He was also dragged to the bottom of the ocean and instead of giving up, he killed nine monsters. After they found out I was an Omega they disappeared and Elena became the better/popular sister. After that some people still crowded me in hopes that Elena would noticed them through me but soon enough they realized her hatred for me and left. (A/N picture above, the necklace isn t the same but the clothes are) As soon as your first shift happened either a necklace or ring was forged specifically for you. For she wolves it was a necklace, it came in different shapes depending on your status. For Ash it was a shield, her parents being warriors, it had the pack s symbol thinly craved in it, as well as her initials in cursive. Males had a ring, it also carried the pack s symbol but instead of being craved in it, it was added. Once you found you mate, a animal would appear along with your mate s initials. How? You may ask yourself, for it had magic. The animal is your spirit, and you could shift between that animal, a wolf, and a human. Rare times you would get more than one, although none at all was common. I shake my head and focus back to her, Guess what El? She beams at me. What? I ask dismissing her happy mood, ... • 53. Stteric Acid Purcules In A Monolayer Purpose In this experiment, the different lengths of a steric acid molecules in a monolayer were measured to determine Avogadro s number. The number of drops of stearic acid were calculated to see how much it will take to make a monolayer on the surface of water on the dish. (Goldwhite and Tikkanen) Theory The stearic acid is obtained from animal fats. The molecular formula is C17H35COOH and its composed of a hydrophilic acid group, COOH, and a hydrocarbon chain C17H35. The long hydrocarbon chain is like lubrication oil, because it does not have any affinity for water. In other words, when the stearic acid becomes in contact with water it doesn t mix in water. The hydrophobic chain floats upwards in a vertical position in the solution. (ChemSkills) When the stearic acid was dropped to the water it spreads across the surface until it creates a monolayer, a one molecule thick layer. The volume of stearic acid was calculated by determining the number of drops used to create the monolayer on the dish by using the following equation: V=(number of drops in monolayer Г—(1 mL)/(drops per mL)Г—(concentration of stearic acid)/(1 mL))/(density of stearic acid) We calculated the surface areaof the dish to determine the length of one molecule by using the following equations: гЂ–Surface AreaгЂ—_dish=ПЂ(d/2)^2 Length_(stearic acid)=V_monolayer/гЂ–Surface AreaгЂ—_dish The hydrocarbon chain is the part of the stearic acid molecules to form the monolayer of thickness L. We assumed that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 54. My Out Of Class Speaker Critique Assignment For my out of class speaker critique assignment, I chose to go and attend the public lecture on campus by Mr. Jim Davis, the creator of the Garfield the Cat syndicated comics. The event took place in Sursa Hall inside the Music Instruction Building, and it lasted an hour and half long from 7:00 to 8:30 pm. This lecture occurred on Wednesday, February 15th. In his speech, Mr. Davis talked about his youthful years, the initial challenges he faced, the business strategies he used, and the wild adventure he endured throughout his comical Garfieldbusiness adventures. Regarding his desired response from the audience in his speech, Mr. Davis made it overtly clear that he wanted the audience to listen and learn from his story. I was able to... The attitudinal makeup of the audience was either neutral or positive, as Davis and his work are most known for being lighthearted and joyful. Mr. Davis undoubtedly considered these elements when he planned his lecture, as a large portion of it was centered around the nostalgic feeling the Garfield comics give to the crowd (C3). Regarding the introduction used during the lecture, I felt that it was more than effective in its explanation of Davis by showing what he is primarily known for, what the audience was about to witness, and by creating a favorable atmosphere for the lecture. To gain the audience s attention, a video demonstrating Mr. Davis s history and accomplishments was played before he began his lecture. Overall, I thought that it was a moderately effective introduction because it reinforced the interest of the audience, displayed the significance Davis has to the illustration business, and presented his credibility as well known illustrator. For example, I thought it was interesting that the administrator jokingly announced Davis as a man too important to be talking a public lecture. On the other hand, however, I also thought that the introduction was somewhat ineffective in that it never overviewed what was going to be talked about in the rest of the lecture (C4). Concerning the support used in the speech, Mr. Davis relied heavily on qualitative ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
