Ophelia s Madness In Hamlet
The Madness in Hamlet
Much could be said about the role madness plays in William Shakespeare s Hamlet. We can see
this madness play out in two separate ways. The madness displayed by both Hamlet and Ophelia
is driven by the deaths of their fathers, but they each portray madness in different ways. Both
character s gender, in addition, helped to play a role in their descent into madness.
In writing Hamlet, William Shakespeare shapes a new language for madness and provides one
important site for its redefinition. The plays theatricalize and disseminate the complicated
distinction that the treatises theorize. In the drama, madness is diagnosed by those who observe it.
(Neely, Carol Thomas) The prose used for their mad speeches imply disorderly shape and
contributes to its colloquial character. Using this technique, Shakespeare represents distinctions

Her restlessness, agitation, shifts of direction, her winks and nods and gestures (1. 11) suggest
the spasms of the mother and show that madness is exhibited by the body as well as in speech;
gesture and speech, equally convulsive, blend together: Ophelia beats her heart, / Spurns enviously
at straws (11. 5 6). The representation of Ophelia implicitly introduces conventions for reading
madness as gender inflected. Gender distinctions likewise begin to take shape in the contrasts
between Hamlet and Ophelia. Although Ophelia in her mad scenes can be seen to serve as a
double for Hamlet during his absence from Denmark and from the play, Hamlet s madness is in
every way contrasted with hers, in part, no doubt, to emphasize the difference between the feigned
and actual madness. His discourse, although witty, savage, and characterized by non sequiturs and
bizarre references, almost never has the quoted, fragmentary, ritualized quality of Ophelia s as we
are instructed: Nor what he spake, though it lacked form a little, / Was not like madness

Ethical Dilemma Paper
The ethical dilemma that I intend to analyze in this paper is, whether the right to free speech and
expression which fall under the broader head of individual rights should be absolute or should
there be censorship over the rights for the overall harmony/good of the society? My task here is to
lay out the ethical theories under which the above stated issue can be evaluated. The three main
types of moral codes are Egoism, Altruism and Cynical Exploitation. This discussion will regard
the egoist theory, altruism theory and cynical exploitation in evaluating the dilemma. The Egoists
argue in favour of absolute individual rights with no room for any compromise. Liberty of speech
and expression are an integral part of the individual rights.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The Americans had no right to impose their principles on them no matter ow good and rational
they were. However, the Iraqis and the Syrians have right to enact their tribal and terrorist
beliefs at our expense, because their beliefs are irrational and evil. In the present crisis, the State
department will not defend free speech which is enshrined in the U.S. Constitution as a right to
liberty, because this principle can be rationally defended and to assert this value would be a
selfish act. But the State Department will suggest us to respectfully refrain from publishing
cartoons that offend Muslims. Radical Islamic totalitarianism is not the only threat to freedom
of speech and expression. There are a lot of other factors too. To fight this threat off, we have to
realize that we not only have to fight off terrorists who endanger this right, but also out own
understanding of free speech and expression. We need to realize that if there is no free speech,
we have no hope of a brighter and freer future. We should be willing to defend it if the need be.
Well then, is the right to freedom of speech

Learning A Second Language Is Important Today
Learning a second language is important in America today. Just going to the grocery store there is
chatter of different languages being spoken. In any occupation it is beneficial to know a foreign
language to be better efficient on workforce tasks. Students go to school with peers who make up a
global classroom. Children have a natural curiosity and excitement to speak a foreign languageand
to learn about new cultures. It challenges and helps develop the growing brain to be able to
problem solve more adequately. Elementary school students should learn a second languagebecause
it helps them understand other cultures and become good critical thinkers, learn language skills,
and gain confidence with communication. Development of a child s brain is at its prime, and
neuron growth explodes in Elementary school into Middle schoolage. The abundance of the
neurons will not last and a child s brain has not seen this much growth since toddler years. With
this brain growth, skills become more automatic and specialized for the student. In early
Elementary years as the brain matures with fibers it is helping them form memories, and the
connection of new learning to previous learning is easier. Teaching a second language at this time
is a great opportunity for the advantage of the brain, which is ready to learn and structure the
environment so the child can learn.
Children live in a global society, which helps them have a natural curiosity about the world, and
how it works. Learning

Micro Hydro System For The De Pulper Essay
Micro Hydro System for the De Pulper Micro Hydro power systems can be applied to a wide
range of energy needs throughout the world wherever an ideal site is available. On a small
organic farm in Nicaragua, Finca Esperanza Verde (FEV), a direct drive micro hydro system is
being used to power a coffee de pulper (Raichle, Sinclair Ferrell, 2012). This paper will build
upon existing data on the system and will explore options for directing the water after it has gone
through the system to effectively suit the needs of the farm. The applications of the system could
be prevalent throughout the coffee growing regions of Latin America where there are water
resources and small scale coffee farms. Coffee is 8.1% or $438 Million of Nicaragua s exports,
which makes it the second most exported commodity in the county (Nicaragua, n.d.). The energy
force that is driving the harvesting and processing is predominantly manual labor (Raichle et al.,
2012).
Coffee Harvesting and System Design
First a coffee cherry is picked from the plant, once a basket is full of the cherries it is brought to
the de pulper that is traditionally hand cranked. Meanwhile, water comes from the top of the farm
in a pond and flows down to the beneficio, where the de pulper is located, through the penstock
that is a 2 pipe to the pipe that splits off between the micro hydro system into a 1ВЅ pipe and the
bean washing tanks (Sinclair, 2016). For the micro hydro system the water can flow through one or

Socrates Wrongful Death
Socrates Wrongful Death Imagine watching a man voicing his beliefs and opinions only to be put
on trial for a crime he did not commit. This was the case for Socrates, who was a brilliant
philosopher during Athens Golden Age. Socrates was wrongly accused of impiety and corrupting
the youth. However, he was only challenging the method of thinking around him. Socrateswas a
public thinker that did not deserve to die for his ideas. He was simply standing up for his beliefs
and the Athenian Jury blamed Athensfall on Socrates. If the beliefs of an individual do not harm
others then the person does not deserve to be punished. Everyone including Socrates has their own
ideas, but he had enough conviction to voice them during that time and encouraged

Philosophy Of John Stuart Mill

Intro to Philosophy
John Stuart Mill
Actions are right in proportion as they tend to promote happiness; wrong as they tend to produce
the reverse of happiness. By happiness is intended pleasure and the absence of pain. J.S.M
John Stuart Mill, the eldest son of Benthamite economist James Mill, was held to rigorous
educational standards. At age three he learned Greek and then Latin at age eight. Growing up, Mill
was extremely intelligent but also very emotionally depressed. He had nervous breakdown that
then forced him to rethink what he had been taught and had been teaching, and often said that
poetry was the way out of his depression. Mill was a strong believer in freedom, especially that of
speech and of thought. He spent most of his life at East India Company, from 1826 to the year 1857
for which he had the same position his father held the chief examiner, which put him in charge of
guiding company policies in India. In his 20s, Mill felt the influence of historicism, social thoughts
of the French nature, and Romanticism; as well as urbanization and industrialization. This led him
to look for a new philosophy that wouldn t be so harsh on the limits that shaped society by
imposing on its culture and history, but instead would emphasize humanity s cultivation. After his
retirement and the death of his wife, he was elected into a seat in Parliament and took part in three
momentous occasions. The first generated movement

The Tylenol Crisis
Although Johnson and Johnson was a big company at the time of the Tylenol crisis, the company
has never faced a complicated problem as the one that Tylenol was affronting at the time. In
addition, there were no evidences or records of any other similar problem, neither in the
pharmaceutical industry nor in the food industry. The lack of background on that kind of situation
represented at the time a big challenge for the company.
Tylenol was one of the most spectacular success stories in the pharmaceutical industry, because
in about 6 year period, the product increased revenue from $50 million in 1975 to more than
$350 million in 1981. In 1960 the company promoted Tylenol among doctors and pharmacists as
an alternative pain reliever. By 1981, before the Tylenol crisis, the company had 35% market share
on the analgesic market, and the company was targeting to achieve 50% for the year 19861. The
chart below shows the total revenue growth for Tylenol from 1975 to 1981:
Without any prior experience, the company reacted very well to the problem and handle the crisis
in a way that the company did not lose credibility and kept credibility among the customers. The
company did 5 main activities that help the firm to maintain credibility and to manage the crisis.

A Sand Country Almanac Analysis
As the swamp is most vital to the species that live in it, the value of nature is most desperately felt
by the urgent parties indicating that humans, caught in the modern trend towards economical profit
and away from ecological ethics, have often failed to notice such vitality of nature to itself as well
as to other parties. However, Aldo Leopoldbrilliantly successes to break this common rule and spot
the importance of nature in A Sand Country Almanac. In A Sand Country Almanac, Leopold
releases observations of the current ecological problems in the first branch, confirms the need for
ecological ethics in the second, and proposes conclusions of such phenomenon in the third. Leopold
concludes that humanbeings need to overcome the lack... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In my opinion, the ignorance comes from a lack of concern. How can a person who buys food at
a perfectly organized grocery store feel the same urgency for environmental ethics as a deer that
eats plants for food? Leopold puts such thought in this way: He has no vital relation to it; to him it
is the space between cities on which crops grow... In short, land is something he has outgrown.
(Leopold, 293) There will an advancement in land ethics only when the individuals face direct
impact from their environmental choices. Land ethics, thereby, is not just an intellectual process
but also an emotional

Theory of Social Marketing
Theories and Models in Social Marketing
Reference: Lefebvre, RC (2000). In PN Bloom GT Gundlach (Eds.), Handbook of Marketing and
Society, Newbury Park, CA: Sage Publications.
Theories and models for social marketing abound, with little formal consensus on which types of
models for what types of social problems in what kinds of situations are most appropriate. In
defining what social marketing is, many authors include the notion of exchange theory to link it to
its marketing roots (e.g., Kotler Roberto, 1989; Lefebvre Flora, 1988; Novelli, 1990). Other writers
on the subject omit any mention of exchange theory, either in their definition of social marketing or
its key elements (e.g., Andreasen, 1995; Manoff, 1985). Elliott (1991), ... Show more content on

The core components of HBM include:
♦ Perceived susceptibility: the subjective perception of risk of developing a particular health
condition.
♦ Perceived severity: feelings about the seriousness of the consequences of developing a specific
health problem.
♦ Perceived benefits: beliefs about the effectiveness of various actions that might reduce
susceptibility and severity (the latter two taken together are labeled threat ).
♦ Perceived barriers: potential negative aspects of taking specific actions.
♦ Cues to action: bodily or environmental events that trigger action.
More recently, HBM has been appended to include the notion of self efficacy as another predictor
of health behaviors especially more complex ones in which lifestyle changes must be maintained
over time (Strecher Rosenstock, 1997). A wide variety of demographic, social, psychological and
structural variables may also impact an individual s perceptions and, indirectly, their health related
behaviors. Some of the more important ones include educational attainment, age, gender,
socioeconomic status and prior knowledge.

Impossibility Of The American Dream In Of Mice And Men,...
The Impossibility of the American Dream No matter their station, every human desires the
opportunity to achieve success and prosperity as a result of their personal initiative and drive
without artificial barriers. The presence of this American Dream is intricately woven throughout
human history and its influence spreads all the way from the Declaration of Independance to the
Freedom rides of the Civil Rights Movement. This basic human desire is also interlaced in many
great American literary works such as F. Scott Fitzgerald s The Great Gatsby, Hansberry s A
Raisin in the Sun , Steinbeck s Of Mice and Men, and Upton Sinclair s The Jungle. These works
prove that the true realization of the American Dream is impossible as the basic human... Show

Warming to the subject, Tamoszius went on to explain the situation. Here was Durham s, for
instance, owned by a man who was trying to make as much money out of it as he could, and did
not care in the least how he did it; and underneath him, ranged in ranks and grades like an army,
were managers and superintendents and foremen, each one driving the man next below him and
trying to squeeze out of him as much work as possible. And all the men of the same rank were
pitted against each other; the accounts of each were kept separately, and every man lived in
terror of losing his job, if another made a better record than he. So from top to bottom the place
was simply a seething caldron of jealousies and hatreds. (Sinclair 132). The American Dream
promises that, if you work hard, you can build a better life for yourself and your family. What
that ideology implies, though, is that there are no obstacles between poor men and success
except their own willingness or unwillingness to work. It s as though American society has no
social classes or barriers to advancement. Sinclair is trying to expose just how many obstacles
there are between poor working men and success: problems like lack of education, lack of
influence or power in society, poor familiarity with official government and legal systems, and
enduring poverty all prevent Jurgis from achieving his dream of

First And Fourth Crusades Comparison Essay
Many have priorly stated that history repeats itself time and time again. This can be seen
throughout history but, especially so during the Crusades. This paper will discuss the parallels
between the First and Fourth Crusade. We will also take a brief look at the aftermath of the Fourth
Crusade and how it compares to the aftermath of the Second Crusade. The First Crusadewas
launched in 1095 by Pope Urban II in response to a call for aid by the Byzantines. The resulting
army swept through Asia Minor and into the Near East conquering several cities along the way.
Upon the successful conquering of the region, the crusaders divide the land among themselves
forming four crusader states: County of Edessa, Principality of Antioch, County of Tripoli, and the
Kingdom of Jerusalem. This takeover and dividing of territory is incredibly similar to what occurs
in the fourth crusade. Upon conquering Constantinople in April of 1204, the crusaders proceed to
divide the land among themselves much like they did earlier. They divided the land... Show more

This crusade would grant remission of sin to those who undertook the crusade. Harris again
remarks on the similarities, The reaction in the papal curia when news arrived that
Constantinople had fallen was much the same as it had been when Jerusalem had been lost to
Saladin in 1187 (pg 195 2nd Edition). Pope Urban IV justifies this new crusade by saying that
without Constantinople, the way to Jerusalem was blocked and any efforts to retake the Holy
Land would fail. This call to crusade is similar to the one that launches the Third Crusade led by
Richard Coeur de Lion to retake Jerusalem. However, here these parallels end. Unlike in the
Third Crusade, Pope Urban IV s call for crusade fails and no armies are sent forth. At least none
that could constitute a strict crusade due to a lack of promised remission of

The Cask Of Amontillado, By Edgar Allen Poe
Often main characters lead to wrongful accusations and rash decisions. It serves as a metaphor to
reality, where constant misjudgment of peers occurs. Disguises and changes of clothing are central
to plots such as Harry Potter and the Philosopher s Stone, The Mysterious Affairs at Styles, and
The Cask of Amontillado. In JK Rowling s Harry Potterand the Philosopher s Stone, Quirrell a
professor at Hogwarts disguises himself as a harmless individual while working for Voldemort. In
the Mysterious Affairs at Styles by Agatha Christie, Emily Inglethorp is killed by her deceptive
friend Evelyn Howard. The Cask of Amontillado, by Edgar Allen Poe, the narrator Montresor is
seeking revenge and fakes the role of a loyal servant. These texts demonstrate how easily characters
trust based on physical appearance.
In Harry Potter and the Philosopher s Stone, Quirrell, a professor at Hogwarts, hides behind false
pretenses. He is hired by professor Dumbledore to teach defense against the dark arts. As Harry
begins his first year at Hogwarts he begins to find himself in troublesome situations. Thus, leads
Harry and his peers to learn about the stone that possesses the power to bring back Voldemort.
They believe that someone in the castle is after it. However they have no suspicion of Quirrell s

him. Quirrell s deceptive personality misleads Harry and the readers that Quirrell has nothing to do

Logotherapy Paper
A man who becomes conscious of the responsibility he bears toward a human being who
affectionately waits for him, or to an unfinished work, will never be able to throw away his life. He
knows the why for his existence, and will be able to bear almost any how .
― Viktor E. Frankl
Introduction
The term logotherapy is derived from a Greek word that translates as meaning and therapy, which is
defined as treatment of a condition, illness, or maladjustment (GoodTherapy, 2015). Logotherapy is
sometimes referred to at the Third Vienessen School of Psychotherapy , with Sigmund Freud s
psychoanalysis being the first, and Alfred Adler s individual psychologybeing the second. In
contrast to Freud and Aldler thought, Viktor Frankl, with the emergence of logotherapy, maintained
that a human s principal motivation is not to search for power or gratification, as but to discover the

Logotherapy is suitable for both religious and non religious individuals because of the spiritual (not
religious) dimension in the concept (Asagba, 2013).
Because the existential approach is based on universal human themes, because it does not dictate a
particular way of viewing reality, and because of its broad perspective, it is highly applicable in
working in a multicultural context. Existential therapy is useful in working with culturally diverse
clients because of its focus on universality, or the common ground that we all share. (Corey, 2012)
For an approach to be labeled as existential, it is essential that the cultural, social, political, and
ideological context be taken into account. Themes such as relationships, finding meaning, anxiety,
suffering, and death are concerns that transcend the boundaries that separate cultures. Clients in
existential therapy are encouraged to examine ways their present existence is being influenced by
social and cultural factors (Corey,

The organization of 17 people and the very basic needs to access email, shared files and one
common printer could really operate fine off one server machine, but for the purposes of this
analysis let break it up. To separate the requirements out into separate servers I would
recommend 3 servers. One server for a master file directory where employees can share and
access files, via a shared drive(s) (example X:/ACME_shared_files), this could be set up with the
computer management tool and group policies could be setup in the server management tool for
user login. Employee logins for the file server can be setup either with User Accounts or the

so that access to some files could be limited to some users, for instance only admin and accounting

Public Choice Theory And Public Choice Theory
Public choice or public choice theory means the use of economic tools to deal with traditional
problems of political science, it also tries to explain how public decision are made. It is directed
towards the study of politics based on the economic principles. The public choice theory is a strong
variant of the rational choice theory. The theory is concerned with the provision of so called public
goods, goods that are delivered by government rather than the market, because, as with air, their
benefit cannot be withheld from individuals who choose not to contribute to their provision. What
lies at the heart of public choice theoryis the self interest maximization theory. Public choice works
hand in glove with economics. Economics is the study of individual presences and the interaction of
those preferences with firms in market settings. As South Africa keeps on endeavouring toward
protected change, it appears to be suitable to inspect regularizing open decision hypothesis for bits
of knowledge that may be pertinent toward the South African established process. Regulating open
decision, regularly called established financial matters, involves a similar examination of the
standards and organizations that represent financial, social and political interactions. Constitutional
financial matters augments the business sector trade worldview to the investigation of tenets and

Greed
How Much Land Does a Man Need? by Leo Tolstoy is a short story that addresses the concept of
greed and how it changes the protagonist, Pakhom. Bryan Aubrey, Ph.D, explains that How Much
Land Does a Man Need? illustrates the moral point that a man must know when enough is enough.
He must not continually seek more and more material possessions, unrelated to his personal need.
(Aubrey 198). By illustrating the rise and fall of Pakhom, Tolstoy successfully conveys the dangers
of covetous envy, and the moral dilemmas that one will face when enthralled with such sins.
Pakhom, a lowly Russian peasant, is not satisfied with merely surviving and desires more land to
own. Wishful thinking, however, brings him right into the Devils hands. By saying If I had plenty
of land, I shouldn t fear the Devil himself! (Tolstoy... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Due to his boasting, Pakhom is plagued by the sins of greed and envy until the day he dies. This
curse at first seems to be a gift, as Pakhom begins to gain more and more land. But the truth is
that Pakhom is in the grip of greed.Being greedy is to want more and more in a way that is
unrelated to actual need. He sees the acquisition of land as a way of freeing himself from
anxiety, but in fact, the more land he acquires, the more anxious and troubled he becomes.
(Overview of How Much Land Does a Man Need? 192). For example, when Pakhom moved to a
larger plot of land he was pleased at first but when he got used to it he began to think that even
here he had not enough land. (Tolstoy 725). Pakhom s solution to his problems is more land. He
always has a reason for wanting more land that is good enough to convince him he is right.

Death March Research Paper
The death marches were hideous forced marches made to move Holocaust prisoners from one
camp to another. Many of them met their end here, and in fact, thousands of prisoners died of
exposure, starvation, and exhaustion (ushmm.org 2017). On January 18, 1945, the first death
march of the Holocaust occurred. Thousands are killed in the days before the death march
(ushmm.org 2017). The prisoners forced on these dreadful walks were taken from Auschwitz, and
almost 60,000 of them were commanded to leave their barracks. They began marching to
Gliwice, another concentration camp. Over 15,000 innocent lives were wasted that day. The few
lucky ones who were left alive were liberated on January 27. There were three main purposes of
death marches. The first was to eliminate evidence by killing thousands of the prisoners, who could
later account for the awful things done to them if left alive. The second was that leaders... Show

Artificial Intelligence is undoubtedly a hotly debated topic in today s society, with many concerned
that it will soon enslave humanity and others saying that it s harmless and only here to help us.
Many sci fi movies, such as the infamous 1984 film produced by James Cameron, The Terminator,
portray robots as becoming knowledgeable and taking over the world. Humanity creates an
artificially intelligent program known as Skynet, which becomes completely cognizant and
overthrows the world by initiating a nuclear holocaust. In the aftermath, a group of survivors creates
a resistance that attempts to destroy the program, however they are met with the challenge of
defeating Skynet s cyborg army. Skynet sends a terminator, played by Arnold... Show more content

Nick Bostrom, a philosopher and the University of Oxford, states that, ...superintelligence could
emerge, and while it could be great [...] it could also decide it doesn t need humans around
(Ford). This philosopher, like many other technology critics, can see the effects that artificial
intelligence may have on our future, however there is always the select group of people who
cannot foresee the consequences of their actions. For example, Victor Frankenstein was
introduced to science at a young age and when he went to college at Ingolstadt he met Professor
Waldman shared a similar scientific interest. Waldman proclaimed, If your wish is to become
really a man of science [...] I should advise you to apply to every branch of natural philosophy...
much like how Waldman himself devotes his life to all branches of science (Shelley 29). However,
this sparked Victor s interested and caused him to not immediately realize the ramifications of his
attempts to bring the dead back to life, which lead to the death of Victor s loved ones and the
destruction of his world. The entire human race in The Terminator closely resembles Victor
Frankenstein considering that humans create the superintelligent program, Skynet, which is
supposed solely defend the nation s cyber network, however it ends up taking over the world. This
is extremely similar to Victor s situation, in which both he and humanity neglect

What Does My Papa s Waltz Mean
When you read My Papa s Waltz, you might think it is about a boy and his father having fun just
before bedtime. However, if you look further into the words you see much more. Considering the
text is all one needs to discover the true meaning of this poem. The words will get into your soul
and bring sorrow and anger to the surface. The word whiskey (line 1) shows the father is a
drinking man, and the word dizzy (line 2) implies the amount of whiskey his father consumes
sickens the boy. The boy is young and fragile which plays in the lines of the poem death (line 3),
battered (line 10), beat (line 13), and caked hard (line 14), are all negative hidden meanings. The
word countenance (line 7) parallels the mother s stern disapproval. Hung (line 3) is past tense
reflecting on an earlier time. Understanding the words is the first step in analyzing the poem....

Rhythm as in lines one through four, and seven through eight, are seen throughout the poem.
Whiskey, waltzing, was flows, contrasting to the negativity of the first verse. The image of the
father beating time on the boy s head with the palm of his hand sounds detrimental. It portrays the
father as having the utmost power over the boy, he grabs his wrist instead of holding his hands,
showing the control the father has. The boy hung on like death (line 3), is showing he hung on to
save his life. Verses rhyme sounds unnatural, giving the poem an uncomfortable feeling. The verses
flow like a dance except for a few words that sound off. These examples all give insight to the

Cyprus Financial Crisis
I. Introduction
With a population of only 1 million and no more than half a percent of Euro zone economy, it is
surprising to find out that the financial crisis in a tiny country called Cyprus has enormous global
implications (Long 2013). It cannot be also denied that the Subprime Mortgage Crisis of the US in
2008 has its downbeat domino effect to the world including European Union and Cyprus. In this
report, not only the most critical reasons but also the aftermath of Cyprus financial crisis and
possible alternatives which could have been done to ease such economic downturn will be carefully
examined.
II. Body
1. Main Reasons
The root of the crisis lies when Cyprus experienced a terrible recession in 2009 when the ... Show

That decision let Cypriots themselves furious and they have responded by trying to clear out their
accounts and that will negatively impact on the deposit security or stability. Apart from any
possible instability in deposit base, Eurozone banks may see their ability to rise unsecured funding
deteriorate.
Cyprus became the first ever Eurozone country to apply capital controls with limits on credit card
transactions, daily cash withdrawals, foreign money transfers and cashing cheques. This is a clear
indication of the severity of the situation and, effectively, at least temporarily devalues Euros
located in Cyprus as they are now less easy to transfer.
More than a thousand bank employees marched in the capital Nicosia on Saturday, angry that their
jobs could be lost in the forced restructure of the island s economy and that the government had
proposed to nationalise pensions in order to fund the bailout. That option was later rejected.
Some protests to express Cypriots indignation happened on the street, while parliament voted
overwhelmingly to reject the tax on bank accounts. Furthermore, Banks have been closed for more
than a week, to prevent depositors moving their money off the island, which would have caused
the banks to collapse and made the entire situation worse. However, ATMs were still opened, and
they were quickly ran out of money as everyone tried to withdraw as much

Minds Of Killers
Inside the Minds of Killers Around the world, several new cases of serial homicides are reported
every year. (Vronsky 15). Ninety seven percent of serial murders are committed by psychopaths:
someone who lacks a conscience, feels no remorse, cares exclusively for his own pleasures and
cannot empathize with the suffering of his victims (Levin and Fox 4). The psychopathic state is
not a mental illness but is a behavioral or personality disorder (Vronsky 245). When these
behavioral components are combined with the desire to kill, an addiction is triggered and rarely
broken. The psychology of a psychopathic serial killer produces specific character traits that cannot
be altered therefore rehabilitation and imprisonment will be unsuccessful in treatment.... Show more

They do not have the same morals and thought process as normal people. Psychopaths have a
diminished capacity for fear and anxiety (Vronsky 245). Serial killers are controlled and are
aware of what they are doing and know what the possible outcomes of the crimes will be
(Vronsky 11). They know what they are doing is socially disapproved of and has strong
consequences but they do it anyways to fulfill their twisted desires. Without feeling anxiety and
fear, serial killers do not feel threatened by police and repeat their crimes. Psychopathic serial
killers also have a lack of empathy for the pain of victims and a lack of remorse (Levin and Fox 4).
Since they cannot empathize to the suffering of others, they do not have guilt during and after their
crimes and will repeat them. Their objective is to satisfy themselves, not anyone else. While they

The Ultimate battle of Good vs Evil in Beowulf
The story of Beowulf involves a man who accomplishes many unbelievable feats. These feats help
to save the Danes from evil beasts. The idea of good and evil opposing one another has been a topic
for discussion since man s existence. This idea is seen all around us in movies (Superheroes vs
Villains), the world (ISIS), and religion (God is good, Satan is evil). The story of Beowulf is has the
theme of good versus evil imbedded into it also. Beowulf is an Old English epic that has many
conflicts between its characters, these conflicts between the characters give the theme of good
versus evil in the epic. The conflicts are more than just man versus self or man verves man. The
conflicts are man versus evil, as Beowulf is a man who is defending humanity from the beasts of
hell. Beowulf along with the rest of humanity is seen as the good , whereas the monsters are
seen as the evil . Beowulf unlike other famous warriors did not fight for his country against
others like Achilles, he instead fought against hellish monsters for the sake of man. There are
symbols in the epic that represent good, Beowulf himself is a symbol for good. There are outside
sources that influence the conflict as well, The Bible s story of Cain influences the readers to
determine his spawns to be evil, as he was. Throughout the novel one theme is extremely clear the
theme of good versus evil, it is seen

Kidneys Filter Our Blood
Kidneys work rapidly throughout the day filtering out the toxic wastes that go through the body.
The kidneys filter about 180 liters of blood per day. That is three liters getting filtered 60 times per
day. But my question is does having diabetes and hypertension affect the filtration rate in the
kidneys?
In the body the kidneys perform the task of filtering out the toxic wastes from the bloodstream and
then returning the clean blood back into the body for reabsorption. According to the University of
Michigan The kidneys perform the essential function of removing waste products from the blood
and regulating the water fluid levels. The kidneys will collect toxic blood from the renal artery, and
from there the blood enters through a passageway of nephrons where the toxins are cycled out
through a series of structures.
The blood will first enter into the Bowman s Capsule. The Bowman s Capsule is an expansion of
a closed end to a renal tubule found in the cortex. Kent M. Van De Graff studies showed that In
the Bowman s Capsule the blood gets filtered through however; it only lets smaller particles
through. Particles as big as red blood cells or that have a molecular mass greater than 69,000 can
not travel through the Bowmans Capsule and get reabsorbed into the bloodstream. From there the
toxins and blood travel into the proximal tubule. In the proximal convoluted tubule that we reabsorb
most of the materials that we need to reabsorb from the filtrate. The reabsorption of

I Have For My Remix Project
For my Remix project, I have done the blog kind of think that helps the students what they
should do while they are in college. I have seen so many students in Michigan State
University(MSU) who feel pretty stressed out about their studies. I think that is because so
many people do not do the things that they suppose to do. The other reason I have selected this
topic to do the remix on, is that I have seen one of my friends go though this, I mean he was
about the drop out of the college, but he changed his life style totally. Like, he started going to
class and taking notes and all other things. I have used Storify, which is one of the best platforms
for writing the blogs. I have used this website because I was familiar with it and I knew how to use
it.
For this remix project, my audience was the group of people who want to do well in college like
high school students, and other group of people who are thinking about dropping the college or
even feeling stressed out (I also consider some international students too). I tried to make the blog
as funny as I can. I mean the reason for that is if you go online and try to find this type of article
that talks about the same topic as mine, you probably end up with boring article. The article that
I used to do the remix on was the most boring article and it also talks about this type of topic
which clearly makes it much more boring that is why I decided to add some pictures and some
GIF things so that I can attract number of people.

Urban Sprawl, Inner City Growth, And Suburban Developments
Recently, people in different displines have vigorously discussed and suggested issues, goals, and
principles to create better future settlements to fight against problems of urban sprawl, inner city
decline, and suburban developments. As a part of these efforts, several sustainable models (e.g.,
smart growth, new urbanism, sustainable development, resilient community, or etc.) have been
proposed and implemented. Please discuss topics below.
Q 1. Several decades ago, suburban was one of the utopias where people wanted to live. But some
things are changing now. What were/are the major causes of the current emergence of sustainable
models? Please make good arguments based on the history of suburban development, urban sprawl,

Besides, improved infrastructure and rise in living standard made these suburbs more attractive.
So people are willing to sacrifice more commuting time to live in these suburban communities.
From development perspective, irrational development overrules reasonably urban planning, and
led to unprecedented development in suburbs. Another factor that contributes to urban sprawl is
rise in population, the fact that the number of people live in cities exceed the capacity means
people have to move out. The last reason could be people s preference, people want larger homes,
more rooms, bigger balconies and bigger lawns, so when it is economically feasible, people will
move to suburban.
Some of the negative effects of urban sprawl include increased public expenditure, because to
develop these suburbs, the cities have bring more infrastructure and the money usually comes
from tax payer. The second is increased traffic, because typical urban sprawl makes commuting
time longer, when it lack public transportation, people have to drive more car, it will cause more
traffic jam, more air pollution and more auto accidents. The third is health issue, people live in
suburbs excise less because they rely on cars to go to groceries, churches etc. The forth problem is

Poor memory, lack of concentration, and inability to focus have become such common complaints,
they re practically considered normal . Despite the fact that we re living in the 21st century, where

This is why the science of nootropics (brain health supplements) is slowly gaining in popularity.
Any functional foods, nutraceuticals, supplements, or drugs that help improve the function of the

Does Neutralization Cause Crime
Criminals who commit crime neutralize the belief that their crime is bad by way of using
neutralization techniques which are denial of injury, denial of the victim, condemnation of
condemners, appeal to higher loyalties and self fulfillment. Neutralization does not cause crime
however it does give offenders reasons to commit crimebecause it causes them to feel that what
they are going to do is not that bad.
It is reported that hackers found it easier to crack software codes, access and download files or
commit digital piracy because they feel they are not stealing but copying files. Offenders feel as
though offenses done by computers are not the same as taking a physical item this in turns causes
the offender to feel they caused injury.

The Sacred Heart Cathedral is of the Roman Catholic religion. The Roman Catholic church was

Catholicism interesting because out of the various Christian denominations Roman Catholicism
appeared to differ the greatest from the Protestant and Orthodox sectors of Christianity(Brodd). It is

As I entered the cathedral the first observation I made was that the congregation was wearing
various clothing. Some individuals were dressed in formal attire, which I was expecting, but
others were dressed in shorts, T shirts, and sneakers. This was surprising to me because I had
thought that attending Mass was a formal occasion. There were greeters at the entrance of the
Cathedral making everyone feel welcomed and passing out bulletins. I was amazed by the
intricacy of the inside of the cathedral! The ceiling of the cathedral reminded me of the ceiling of
the Sistine Chapel by Michelangelo. Before the service started, I awed at the ceiling and the
stained glass windows. The stained glass windows were vibrant in color and intricate in design.
Throughout the cathedral there were statues of various important Christian figures. I assumed that
the statues were either of Jesus, the Virgin Mary, various saints, or individuals from the Old
Testament because Matlins and Magida discuss how these statues are prominent in Roman
Catholic cathedrals (Matlins). I know for a fact that one of the statues was indeed Jesus because it
was a statue of him hanging on the cross. Like my church, there were pews for the congregation to
sit in; however, what was different was that there were benches for the congregation to kneel on.
According to Matlin and Magida, these benches are

self discovery. This may seem obvious, that self discovery is a journey that happens during one

partake in such a journey. There are people that would argue that to simply have a life does not
mean that one is actually living. With that being said, it is privilege to not only live a life, but to

Exploring The Possibilities Of Ceramics Being An...
Considered one of the first artists to explore the possibilities of ceramics being an independent
visual medium, Toshiko Takaezu revitalized her field with abstract shapes, painterly glazes, and
lyrical installations (Ruud 20). Takaezu was a Japanese American ceramist who took her
knowledge from her schooling and a visit to Japan to create beautiful forms of art. According to
William Grimes article Toshiko Takaezu, Ceramic
Artist, Dies at 88, Takaezu is best known for her
closed pots and torpedo like cylinders, derived from natural forms in which helped to elevate
ceramics from the production of functional vessels to fine art (Grimes). Takaezu s works of art
included using techniques such as closing off the top of her vessels, allowing for her to have a
clay canvas for glazing of all kinds, as well as utilizing an ancient tradition of anagame, or tunnel
kiln firing, that produced accidents such as ash deposits and scars from surrounding pots, and as a
final point was strongly influenced by her study of Zen Buddhism and using her ceramic work as an
outgrowth of nature.
One of eleven children, Toshiko Takaezu was born on June 17, 1922 in Pepeekeo, Hawaii; her
parents being Japanese immigrants from Okinawa (Liu 46). She was introduced to pottery while

Water Pumps In California
Have you ever felt uncomfortable about not taking a shower for two or more days? Well, for
many Californians that rely on failing water pumps, many of them haven t taken a shower in over
two to five months. Three years of over pumping has caused the water supply in our underground
aquifers to slowly dry up because farmers are pumping more water out than can be replaced by the
rain. Now, because many towns are starting to lose their water due to their reliance on aquifer
pumps, legislation is being considered. But this decision to put a cap on those pumps has many
farmers upset, for these farmers believe that they should have an unlimited access to water. One
farmer said that The city folk are biting the hand that feeds them. But as many farmers believe that
they should have unlimited access to the pumps, many people in the cities that have no water

That means that the more than 40% of California is supplied by aquifers, that means that there is
a lot of water if it is able to support 40% of California. And if California did pass groundwater
regulations, that means that farmers would have to evenly distribute water or lose a lot of their
crops and that would be bad because then farmers would not produce as many crops, that means
less revenue for California. That is why so many farmers are against the groundwater regulations.
Even though all of these people are against the groundwater regulations, they have to think of the
long term effect of pumping groundwater. If we were to keep pumping groundwater, we would
slowly dwindle down our supply of groundwater, which is one of the reasons that California is
such a good place to farm and grow crops. And the more we pump out groundwater the more
California sinks into the gap left by the water that had been pumped out of the ground. That is why
groundwater regulations are important to the future of

Significant Long Term Causes Of The 1905 Russian Revolution
Intro
The Autocratic system within Russia which was put into place for 300 years was one of the
significant long term causes for the Russian 1905 revolution. The ideas surrounding the autocratic
system meant that there was no parliament but one ruler who was Tsar Nicholas the II who had
absolute power and believed that he had been given this power by divine right. The autocratic
control over Russia involved russification which meant that the other cultures and languages being
practiced were to be prohibited in order to try and unify Russia as it was so vast. To help control
people from this, the Okhrana were put in place all over Russia to prevent people from practising
any other Culture other than Russian and to control the bands of counter revolutionaries ... Show

In 1905 the working conditions for the peasants and proletariat workers were poor and their
rights with their employers were non existent but they still had loyalty towards the Tsar and
believed in his leadership. Because The peasants and the workers thought that the Tsar would be
willing to help them, they went on a strike, drafted a petition to give directly to him outside
Winter palace expecting for him to listen to them and to grant them basic necessities. Within the
petition they requested reduction of the working hours, higher wages, Medical attention to be
given carefully and considerately and making sure that factories are safe for them to work in
without risk of death. On 9th of January, the day of the march, the workers marched peacefully
with their families carrying pictures of the Tsar as a sign of respect. But the Tsar was aware of the
March that was happening and had no intention of reading the petition as he thought that he could
maintain his power and loyalty without agreeing to the workers needs so left the night before,
leaving his police to guard the winter palace. As the marchers advanced to the Winter palace and
were met with the police who immediately shot on them, killing hundreds of the workers and their
family. The tsar wasn t aware that his police had shot on them, as it was his Uncle who gave out the

Ode To The Pineapple Essay
Seeking survival, hostile, hidden from sight, Deliciously flavoured juicy, sweet bite, Exploding
senses preparing to ignite, Inspiring to escape from the suffocating night. This quote, taken from
the poem Ode To The Pineapple, by Claudia Bakker, summarizes Eloy BarragГЎn s piece,
Pineapple, perfectly. His danceperformance brought to life a comedic wedding scene depicted with
a bride, groom, and three female bystanders. The performers constructed an elegant ceremony, filled
with peculiar nuances, and phenomenal comedic timing. The piece setting illustrated a nuptial,
made clear to the audience with a bride dressed in white, vail included. BarragГЎn, the
choreographer, wanted to maintain the elegance of a conventional wedding, by creating a
traditional setting and formations, but also included many quirky elements. The elegance spurred
from the classical dance form, ballet. Lines created by developpГ©s, fan kicks, and battlements,
effortlessly presented the technique and intricacy of this dance form. Double coupe turns also
demonstrated the strength maintained by the dancers while allowing their ease to flow through
their most difficult... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although it seemed as though the bride and groom were relaxed during the majority of the piece,
the additional three females movement was scurried and frantic at times. Specifically, two of the
women extended their arms towards the ceiling, dropped their arms exasperated, then made a sharp
head movement behind their shoulder before beginning a series of idiosyncratic movements,
traveling to all ends of the stage. In addition to this freneticism, the third female performer
maintained a professionalism to her expression and movement. When she joined the frenzied duet,
she brought a calmness to the now trio, with fluid arabesque turns and an extended migration to one

Summary Of Search And Destroy By Bruce Dawe
The poem Search and Destroy, by Bruce Dawe, is looking at the death and destruction of nature
due to human influence. The poem is directed at the current generation. It speaks sadly of a
crumbling nature as industry takes over, and humanity sucks whatever is still useful from the earth.
Dawe, like many others at the time, probably felt bitter about man taking nature for granted, and
thought that he could best express his anger and sadness through his writing. As I said before, the
poem is intended for the current generation who have permanently destroyed much of the
environment, but it could also be directed at man in general, or even the next generation to
preserve and protect what s left of nature, before it s too late; for our own sake as well.... Show

and fires, from dumps and furnaces aspires. indicating toxic fumes being released from our forever
growing industry lifestyle. And To poison heaven where the bird, sings on a diminished third.

Dry Teeth Research Paper
Tips For Dental Care When You Have Dry Mouth
When you have xerostomia, or dry mouth, it s important to practice good oral hygiene to prevent
tooth decay. With dry mouth, you have less saliva than normal. Saliva is needed to keep bacterial
growth on your teeth under control. Along with keeping your gums and teeth moist, saliva contains
enzymes and antibacterial properties that help fight tooth decay. Here are some dental hygiene tips
for protecting your teeth when you have dry mouth.
Brush And Floss
You may want to increase the number of times you brush daily. If you brush after every meal and
every snack, you ll get rid of sticky bits of food that attract bacteria. Flossing is important too
because it gets rid of food that is caught between ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Instead, look for products made for people with dry mouth. These soothe the irritation of dry gums
while helping guard against tooth decay. Your dentist may recommend certain brands of
mouthwash and toothpaste if you need additional fluoride for protecting your teeth.
Have Regular Dental Cleanings
When you have dry mouth, you want to see your dentist on a regular schedule so the condition of
your mouth and teeth can be monitored. Your teeth may develop plaque and tartar when you have a
diminished amount of saliva, especially if you avoid harsh dental products designed to remove
them. You ll want to have your teeth professionally cleaned according to the schedule
recommended by your dentist. This will help you avoid gum disease, tooth decay, and even bad
breath that often accompanies dry mouth.
Keep Your Mouth Moist
Keeping your mouth moist increases your comfort, and it may help prevent gum irritation from
dryness as well as inhibit bacterial growth. You can increase moisture by sipping water constantly
throughout the day. Also try sucking on hard candy as this can stimulate the production of saliva.
Just avoid sugary drinks and candy since these contribute to the development of cavities. Your
dentist may recommend you try artificial saliva. It has a thickening agent that helps it cling to your
mouth and teeth so the moistening effect lasts longer than what you get with plain

The And Social Impacts Of The Industrial Revolution
Becoming more and more popular, 24 states have adopted Right To Work Laws which prohibit
employers and unions from making agreements which would require current, or future, employees
to join a union in order to work for the company. This law has created a controversy which spans
across topics such as personal and employer freedoms, to fiscal responsibility of the government
and tax payers money.
History of Unions and Right To Work
The first recorded labor strike in the US occurred when New York journeymen tailors protested a
wage reduction in 1768. In response to economic and social impacts of the industrial revolution,
unions began rapidly forming in the mid 19th century. The main focus of the unions was to
defend against cheap labor , improve safety conditions, and demand shorter workdays. National
Labor groups began to form at this time as well. The Knights of Labor emerged as a major force
in the late 1880s, but eventually collapsed because of poor organization, disagreement of goals,
lack of effective leadership, and opposition from employers and government forces.
The National Labor Relations Act of 1935 (better known as the Wagner Act) was the single most
important piece of labor legislation enacted in the United States in the 20th century. Its purpose was
to prohibit employers interference with the autonomous organization of workers into unions.
Sponsored by New York Senator Robert F. Wagner, the Wagner Act established the federal
government as the

  • 2. Ophelia s Madness In Hamlet The Madness in Hamlet Much could be said about the role madness plays in William Shakespeare s Hamlet. We can see this madness play out in two separate ways. The madness displayed by both Hamlet and Ophelia is driven by the deaths of their fathers, but they each portray madness in different ways. Both character s gender, in addition, helped to play a role in their descent into madness. In writing Hamlet, William Shakespeare shapes a new language for madness and provides one important site for its redefinition. The plays theatricalize and disseminate the complicated distinction that the treatises theorize. In the drama, madness is diagnosed by those who observe it. (Neely, Carol Thomas) The prose used for their mad speeches imply disorderly shape and contributes to its colloquial character. Using this technique, Shakespeare represents distinctions between ... Her restlessness, agitation, shifts of direction, her winks and nods and gestures (1. 11) suggest the spasms of the mother and show that madness is exhibited by the body as well as in speech; gesture and speech, equally convulsive, blend together: Ophelia beats her heart, / Spurns enviously at straws (11. 5 6). The representation of Ophelia implicitly introduces conventions for reading madness as gender inflected. Gender distinctions likewise begin to take shape in the contrasts between Hamlet and Ophelia. Although Ophelia in her mad scenes can be seen to serve as a double for Hamlet during his absence from Denmark and from the play, Hamlet s madness is in every way contrasted with hers, in part, no doubt, to emphasize the difference between the feigned and actual madness. His discourse, although witty, savage, and characterized by non sequiturs and bizarre references, almost never has the quoted, fragmentary, ritualized quality of Ophelia s as we are instructed: Nor what he spake, though it lacked form a little, / Was not like madness ... • 3. Ethical Dilemma Paper The ethical dilemma that I intend to analyze in this paper is, whether the right to free speech and expression which fall under the broader head of individual rights should be absolute or should there be censorship over the rights for the overall harmony/good of the society? My task here is to lay out the ethical theories under which the above stated issue can be evaluated. The three main types of moral codes are Egoism, Altruism and Cynical Exploitation. This discussion will regard the egoist theory, altruism theory and cynical exploitation in evaluating the dilemma. The Egoists argue in favour of absolute individual rights with no room for any compromise. Liberty of speech and expression are an integral part of the individual rights.... However, the Iraqis and the Syrians have right to enact their tribal and terrorist beliefs at our expense, because their beliefs are irrational and evil. In the present crisis, the State department will not defend free speech which is enshrined in the U.S. Constitution as a right to liberty, because this principle can be rationally defended and to assert this value would be a selfish act. But the State Department will suggest us to respectfully refrain from publishing cartoons that offend Muslims. Radical Islamic totalitarianism is not the only threat to freedom of speech and expression. There are a lot of other factors too. To fight this threat off, we have to realize that we not only have to fight off terrorists who endanger this right, but also out own understanding of free speech and expression. We need to realize that if there is no free speech, we have no hope of a brighter and freer future. We should be willing to defend it if the need be. Well then, is the right to freedom of speech ... In any occupation it is beneficial to know a foreign language to be better efficient on workforce tasks. Students go to school with peers who make up a global classroom. Children have a natural curiosity and excitement to speak a foreign languageand to learn about new cultures. It challenges and helps develop the growing brain to be able to problem solve more adequately. Elementary school students should learn a second languagebecause it helps them understand other cultures and become good critical thinkers, learn language skills, and gain confidence with communication. Development of a child s brain is at its prime, and neuron growth explodes in Elementary school into Middle schoolage. The abundance of the neurons will not last and a child s brain has not seen this much growth since toddler years. With this brain growth, skills become more automatic and specialized for the student. In early Elementary years as the brain matures with fibers it is helping them form memories, and the connection of new learning to previous learning is easier. Teaching a second language at this time is a great opportunity for the advantage of the brain, which is ready to learn and structure the environment so the child can learn. • 5. Micro Hydro System For The De Pulper Essay Micro Hydro System for the De Pulper Micro Hydro power systems can be applied to a wide range of energy needs throughout the world wherever an ideal site is available. On a small organic farm in Nicaragua, Finca Esperanza Verde (FEV), a direct drive micro hydro system is being used to power a coffee de pulper (Raichle, Sinclair Ferrell, 2012). This paper will build upon existing data on the system and will explore options for directing the water after it has gone through the system to effectively suit the needs of the farm. The applications of the system could be prevalent throughout the coffee growing regions of Latin America where there are water resources and small scale coffee farms. Coffee is 8.1% or $438 Million of Nicaragua s exports, which makes it the second most exported commodity in the county (Nicaragua, n.d.). The energy force that is driving the harvesting and processing is predominantly manual labor (Raichle et al., 2012). This was the case for Socrates, who was a brilliant philosopher during Athens Golden Age. Socrates was wrongly accused of impiety and corrupting the youth. However, he was only challenging the method of thinking around him. Socrateswas a public thinker that did not deserve to die for his ideas. • 7. Philosophy Of John Stuart Mill Callie R. Young Miss J. Hall 17 November, 2017 Intro to Philosophy John Stuart Mill Actions are right in proportion as they tend to promote happiness; wrong as they tend to produce the reverse of happiness. By happiness is intended pleasure and the absence of pain. J.S.M John Stuart Mill, the eldest son of Benthamite economist James Mill, was held to rigorous educational standards. At age three he learned Greek and then Latin at age eight. Growing up, Mill was extremely intelligent but also very emotionally depressed. He had nervous breakdown that then forced him to rethink what he had been taught and had been teaching, and often said that poetry was the way out of his depression. Mill was a strong believer in freedom, especially that of speech and of thought. He spent most of his life at East India Company, from 1826 to the year 1857 for which he had the same position his father held the chief examiner, which put him in charge of guiding company policies in India. In his 20s, Mill felt the influence of historicism, social thoughts of the French nature, and Romanticism; as well as urbanization and industrialization. This led him to look for a new philosophy that wouldn t be so harsh on the limits that shaped society by imposing on its culture and history, but instead would emphasize humanity s cultivation. After his retirement and the death of his wife, he was elected into a seat in Parliament and took part in three momentous occasions. The first generated movement ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Theories and models for social marketing abound, with little formal consensus on which types of models for what types of social problems in what kinds of situations are most appropriate. This basic human desire is also interlaced in many great American literary works such as F. This can be seen throughout history but, especially so during the Crusades. This paper will discuss the parallels between the First and Fourth Crusade. We will also take a brief look at the aftermath of the Fourth Crusade and how it compares to the aftermath of the Second Crusade. The First Crusadewas launched in 1095 by Pope Urban II in response to a call for aid by the Byzantines. The resulting army swept through Asia Minor and into the Near East conquering several cities along the way. Upon the successful conquering of the region, the crusaders divide the land among themselves forming four crusader states: County of Edessa, Principality of Antioch, County of Tripoli, and the Kingdom of Jerusalem. This takeover and dividing of territory is incredibly similar to what occurs in the fourth crusade. Pope Urban IV justifies this new crusade by saying that without Constantinople, the way to Jerusalem was blocked and any efforts to retake the Holy Land would fail. This call to crusade is similar to the one that launches the Third Crusade led by Richard Coeur de Lion to retake Jerusalem. However, here these parallels end. Public Choice Theory And Public Choice Theory Public choice or public choice theory means the use of economic tools to deal with traditional problems of political science, it also tries to explain how public decision are made. It is directed towards the study of politics based on the economic principles. The public choice theory is a strong variant of the rational choice theory. The theory is concerned with the provision of so called public goods, goods that are delivered by government rather than the market, because, as with air, their benefit cannot be withheld from individuals who choose not to contribute to their provision. What lies at the heart of public choice theoryis the self interest maximization theory. Public choice works hand in glove with economics. Bryan Aubrey, Ph.D, explains that How Much Land Does a Man Need? illustrates the moral point that a man must know when enough is enough. He must not continually seek more and more material possessions, unrelated to his personal need. (Aubrey 198). By illustrating the rise and fall of Pakhom, Tolstoy successfully conveys the dangers of covetous envy, and the moral dilemmas that one will face when enthralled with such sins. • 28. The Ultimate Battle Of Good Vs Evil Dylan Byington Mr. Reed English 2322 7 30 Nov. 2015 The Ultimate battle of Good vs Evil in Beowulf The story of Beowulf involves a man who accomplishes many unbelievable feats. These feats help to save the Danes from evil beasts. The idea of good and evil opposing one another has been a topic for discussion since man s existence. This idea is seen all around us in movies (Superheroes vs Villains), the world (ISIS), and religion (God is good, Satan is evil). The story of Beowulf is has the theme of good versus evil imbedded into it also. Beowulf is an Old English epic that has many conflicts between its characters, these conflicts between the characters give the theme of good versus evil in the epic. The conflicts are more than just man versus self or man verves man. The conflicts are man versus evil, as Beowulf is a man who is defending humanity from the beasts of hell. Beowulf along with the rest of humanity is seen as the good , whereas the monsters are seen as the evil . Beowulf unlike other famous warriors did not fight for his country against others like Achilles, he instead fought against hellish monsters for the sake of man. There are symbols in the epic that represent good, Beowulf himself is a symbol for good. There are outside sources that influence the conflict as well, The Bible s story of Cain influences the readers to determine his spawns to be evil, as he was. Throughout the novel one theme is extremely clear the theme of good versus evil, it is seen ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 29. Kidneys Filter Our Blood Kidneys work rapidly throughout the day filtering out the toxic wastes that go through the body. The kidneys filter about 180 liters of blood per day. That is three liters getting filtered 60 times per day. But my question is does having diabetes and hypertension affect the filtration rate in the kidneys? In the body the kidneys perform the task of filtering out the toxic wastes from the bloodstream and then returning the clean blood back into the body for reabsorption. According to the University of Michigan The kidneys perform the essential function of removing waste products from the blood and regulating the water fluid levels. The kidneys will collect toxic blood from the renal artery, and from there the blood enters through a passageway of nephrons where the toxins are cycled out through a series of structures. The blood will first enter into the Bowman s Capsule. The Bowman s Capsule is an expansion of a closed end to a renal tubule found in the cortex. Kent M. Van De Graff studies showed that In the Bowman s Capsule the blood gets filtered through however; it only lets smaller particles through. Particles as big as red blood cells or that have a molecular mass greater than 69,000 can not travel through the Bowmans Capsule and get reabsorbed into the bloodstream. From there the toxins and blood travel into the proximal tubule. In the proximal convoluted tubule that we reabsorb most of the materials that we need to reabsorb from the filtrate. I have seen so many students in Michigan State University(MSU) who feel pretty stressed out about their studies. I think that is because so many people do not do the things that they suppose to do. The other reason I have selected this topic to do the remix on, is that I have seen one of my friends go though this, I mean he was about the drop out of the college, but he changed his life style totally. Like, he started going to class and taking notes and all other things. I have used Storify, which is one of the best platforms for writing the blogs. I have used this website because I was familiar with it and I knew how to use it. For this remix project, my audience was the group of people who want to do well in college like high school students, and other group of people who are thinking about dropping the college or even feeling stressed out (I also consider some international students too). I tried to make the blog as funny as I can. I mean the reason for that is if you go online and try to find this type of article that talks about the same topic as mine, you probably end up with boring article. The article that I used to do the remix on was the most boring article and it also talks about this type of topic which clearly makes it much more boring that is why I decided to add some pictures and some GIF things so that I can attract number of people. ... So people are willing to sacrifice more commuting time to live in these suburban communities. From development perspective, irrational development overrules reasonably urban planning, and led to unprecedented development in suburbs. Another factor that contributes to urban sprawl is rise in population, the fact that the number of people live in cities exceed the capacity means people have to move out. The last reason could be people s preference, people want larger homes, more rooms, bigger balconies and bigger lawns, so when it is economically feasible, people will move to suburban. Some of the negative effects of urban sprawl include increased public expenditure, because to develop these suburbs, the cities have bring more infrastructure and the money usually comes from tax payer. The stained glass windows were vibrant in color and intricate in design. Throughout the cathedral there were statues of various important Christian figures. I assumed that the statues were either of Jesus, the Virgin Mary, various saints, or individuals from the Old Testament because Matlins and Magida discuss how these statues are prominent in Roman Catholic cathedrals (Matlins).
