Escape From Furnace
The series I m reviewing is called Escape from Furnace by the UK author Alexander Gordon Smith.
The book is written in the main character, Alex Sawyer s, point of view. Alex is not a very good
person, but the reason he was sent to furnace was for the framed death of his best friend Toby. Alex s
fate was decided when he started his life sentence, and was lowered into the bowels of the
underground Penitentiary. The thief turned inmate, Alex Sawyer, meets Zee, who was framed for
murder, and Donovan, who murdered his mother s abusive boyfriend. They start planning their escape
when Alex feels a draft come from a collapsed chipping room. Alex, Zee, and Donovan smuggle gas
to blow a hole, but the day before the planned escape, Donovan gets dragged away by the blood watch

the incinerator. It was too late, the Warden flipped on the incinerator, Alex, Zee, and Simon fell to
what they believed was their death, but what was coming after was even worse. The Warden filled
Alex with the nectar. The nectar would strip away his mind, make him believe his home was Furnace,

The Opposition Of The Privileged Has Been Around Since The...
The ruling of the privileged has been around since the conception of organized society. The state is
nothing but an instrument of oppression of one class by another no less so in a democratic republic
than in a monarchy. This is a quote from social scientist Fredrich Engels that shows the outlook of
most people towards a privileged ruling; this system was deemed unfair to the majority, which led to
monarchies, the main representative of minority ruling, losing their power. Although we believe the
true power in modern democratic societies rests on the majority, it truly rests with the powerful elite.
The basis for schlock sociology is that American society has become so complex and technical that a
new upper class has been created to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Moscovici, a major psychologist, he states that they also possess authority by bringing
attention to themselves and disrupting the established norm through their confidence in their
alternative views, which leads to the minority internalizing their views (Underwood). The major
distinguishing factors of the upper class compared to the rest of society is their education, occupation,
and their ideals. Most major leaders in any industry have attended top institutions that are known for
their prestigious alumni, it is shown that 54% of corporate leaders and 42% of political leaders only
attended twelve schools which include schools such as Yale and Stanford (Reynolds). Many of these
institutions do not just rely on good grades, but also on social profile and it is shown that it is
practically impossible to flunk out of American colleges since the seventies (Codevilla). These
persistent school trends show the close minded atmosphere that racks the upper class, which also leads
to less disagreements due to the fact that so many ideas receive no competition from other major
elites. Their occupations are also very consistent, they tend to command top societal posts which gives
them authority over financial, educational, social, civic, and cultural institutions (Reynolds). Many top
leaders who are not of the upper class through birth are socialized in, which

The Effect Of Sucrose Concentration On The Rate Of...
Determining the effect of varying sucrose concentration on the rate of anaerobic cell respiration in
yeasts
Introduction:
The research question asks how varying sucrose concentrations affect the rate of anaerobic cell
respiration in yeast, measured in CO2 production. The rate of anaerobic respiration will be determined
by measuring the rate of CO2 production by the yeast cells.
The hypothesis stats that as the sucrose concentration is increased, rate of respiration will increase and
therefore the CO2 production of yeast cells will rise. Sucrose is a disaccharide composed of the
monosaccharaides glucose and fructose. Glucose is a reactant in anaerobic cell respiration. In the
absence of oxygen, glucose will react with the yeast producing ethanol and CO2.
Independent variable Sucrose concentration The sucrose concentration in the solution was varied to
10%, 20%, 30%, 40% and 50% in order to examine the effect of varying sucrose concentration on the
CO2 production of yeast cells.
Dependent variable CO2 production The CO2 production was measured with a CO2 meter (+/ 1ppm),
in order to determine the rate of anaerobic cell respiration in yeast.
Controlled variable Yeast 10.0 mg (+/ 0.5mg) of yeast were added for each trial Time For every trial,
the CO2 production was constantly measured for 300 seconds (+/ 1 second) Temperature The room
temperature was measured throughout the lab and kept constant at 24°C (+/ 1°C), as the lab was
conducted during the same time of

Monuments And Masculinity In Roland Emmerich s...
Monuments and Masculinity
Roland Emmerich s Independence Day (1996) mirrors the ideology of a sci fi film outlined by Susan
Sontag in the Imagination of Disaster so closely that it borders on a lack of creativity. That is what
qualifies this film as a revival of the sci fi genre following revisionist works like Steven Spielberg s
E.T. the Extra Terrestrial (1982). This film, among other things, believes that femininity in leadership
will lead to disaster on the political stage and that personal relationships should mirror the ideals of
this government balance. This scene uses framing and set design re erect themes of the traditional sci
fi ideology such as the military embodiment of masculinity and the weak femininity of a scientist .
This scene also sets the stage for what Sontag calls the balance of a good war and the yearning for
peace which unfolds throughout the film. The ideology of Independence Day is despairingly
unoriginal, touching on almost all themes outlined by Sontag as what makes the science fiction genre.
Queuing up stage Sontag s third stage of the science fiction film, In the capital of the country,
conferences between scientists and the military take place... ; of course, the difference being these
shots are in Area 51. Intertitles clearly define for the viewer where the jet is heading, doing so it is
reinforcing the authority they have to travel there. This is an ironic move considering the random
assortment of civilians they have on board, and the lack of authority they had not even an hour prior.
The set design and misé en scene are so blatantly full of military machismo as the president is seen
peaking his character metamorphosis between an effeminate man and the strong leader. Slowly, a
beyond oversized commercial airliner prop pulls into the base s set absolutely truncating the figures in
every frame. The minimalist décor on the base exterior of the base contrasts with the extravagance of
the ridiculous jet. The implications of the size of the machine and the machismo of its passengers, or
the size of their genitals, is overbearing. It s one of the many phallic displays of power and
masculinity that can be seen throughout the film, but this one obviously aids as a visual

those general strategies would be effecting in different context throughout the company. To enter into
the global market company has to use different signs, symbols, shape, slogans, by which is easily
understandable to that country because if the product is not easily memorable to customers then they
will easily move to the substitute product and then the product will have a chance for failure in that

social or sexual behavior. More than ever deviance is portrayed in the media and many television
shows we watch today. Deviance causes drama not everyone likes drama in their lives but they sure
like to watch it. It sounds bad but who would want to watch a show about boring peoples lives? To be

South Africa Is a Sick Nation
1. Comments in Jansen words saying South Africa is a sick nation:
I agree, because according to Jansen:
We burn down and break down:
 Every time there is a problem people doesn t like to wait for negotiations with the government but
they just burn the properties of the state and all the important assets for service delivery and
equipment.
 If people strike they burn cars, hospitals, police stations and they forget that tomorrow they will
need those things that is why I agree with Jansen that South Africa is a sick country.
We turn over garbage cans:
 We take all the trash cans and pour them on the street as a sign of being angry and not satisfied and
this can result in problems such as dirty streets, air and land pollution and it will affect our lives and
put our lives in danger.
We beat each other senseless with chairs in the political rallies:
 We don t have shame or don t think for the lives of others because we harm them in such a way as if
they don t live with us they are not part of us and we destroy our morals and respect by fighting our
brothers and sister instead of fighting the problems that we are facing in the country.
We threaten each other and we kill each other
 We like to set standard for others and tell them if they don t reach those standard or certain activities
that they were given we are going to kill them.
 We forget that killing each other won t bring peace in our nation but it will just bring shame and too
much hatred to us and we won t

My Psychology Course And Remembered About The Cerebral...
I decided to write my literature after going through one of the textbooks in my physiological
psychology course and remembered about the cerebral hemispheres, which receives sensory
information from opposite sides of the body. This got interested in the topic of cerebral hemispheres
and sensory information after a split brain operation. The split brain procedure is a surgical operation
that s used for people that have severe epilepsy that can t be controlled by the drugs they take. In the
brains of people with severe epilepsy, the nerve cells on one side of the brain are overactive and the
overactivity is relayed to the other side by the corpus callosum, a bundle of nerve cells that connect
certain parts of one side of the brain to the other. The corpus callosum enables the left and right side of
the brain to share information so that both sides knows what the other is doing and perceiving. Both
sides of the brain engage in out of control activity that stimulate each other, causing stereotypical
seizures that recur throughout the day preventing the person from living a normal life. Neurosurgeons
have discovered that severing the corpus callosum greatly reduces the often recurring seizures.
After the brain split procedure, the brain is divided into two hemispheres that work independently of
each other. Their sensory mechanisms, and motor systems no longer relay information. To the casual
observer they disconnection isn t obvious for the elementary reason that one hemisphere

Goneril King Lear Essay
Goneril is a predominate main character in the play and she is known for her evil ways. She is the
perfect example of being entitled. Her selfish ways have a great impact on both herself and others.
Towards the beginning of the play, and even through most of it, her entitlement has positive impacts
on herself. She easily gets what she wants and she continues to seek fulfilment. However, she has a
tremendous impact on others. She goes to great lengths to get what she wants, even in it means hurting
those closest to her. In King Lear, Shakespeare uses the character of Goneril to depict the lengths an
individual will go to when they feel entitled to get what they want and the devastating consequences
that can result from their selfishness.

Lear and made a heartfelt plea full of lies. Goneril effectively vanished Lear from the castle and
wished upon his death. She even let jealousy get the best of her, and killed her very own sister. Not to
mention, she killed herself as a way to run from her problems. Summed up, Goneril has a tremendous
impact on others. As long as it benefited herself, she would do anything. Shakespeare effectively uses
Goneril to represent the distance a self entitled being would go to, to get what they want, no matter the
consequences. Her unruly actions may have had a couple positive outcomes, but ultimately, never

George Orwell Privacy
Privacy at the Cost of National Security Big Brother is watching (Orwell). The truth is that anyone
reading this paper from the internet has the right to know that someone thousands of miles away could
very well be watching (Orwell). On top of this shocking fact, a victim would never even know they
were being watched. George Orwell knew what he was talking about when he wrote of a society in
which all things are monitored by the government and an individual s right to privacy is breached for
the sake of peace and safety. Some might even say America is such a society today. The citizens in the

In pursuit of a serious threat, it is understandable that some information such as that might be useful.
Many people will argue that the current capabilities of different agencies are constitutional and are for
the country s benefit; some have the belief that what they don t know can t hurt them. Maybe
government does have the right to obtain what they want for their discretion, and we should trust that
they will not abuse that power. It is true that the people of America do not know the plans of various
government agencies, and perhaps it is best that we accept that and let them do their work. Besides,
just imagine all of the terrorist attacks and other incidents that will be prevented by these national
security measures. While all these points are logical, they re missing the point. Ignorance is not bliss,
and a privacy invasion such as one that is occurring now cannot continue. These national security
measures are slowly eating away our basic freedoms and liberties. We cannot just let this pass by and
become blasé on the matter; it needs to be understood that there is a limit to what is acceptable and
that is, what is necessary? The government does not need to know what websites people are visiting,
and it does not need the phone records of millions of Americans. These current government
procedures violate a citizen s right to

How Nutrition Affects Our Mental Health
Introduction In the modern era of medicine, doctors have been making discoveries about how nutrition
affects our mental health. They are making connections between the diet of an adolescent and how it
affects their moods. An example that has been sweeping the nation, is Attention Deficit Hyperactivity
Disorder (ADHD) is a brain diseases. Commonly found in children in their adolescent stages. In a
classroom of 30 children, 1 3 of them will be diagnosed with ADHD, and a quarter the of children
with ADHD have serious learning disabilities such as: oral expression, listening skills, reading
comprehension and/or math difficulties. (Ryan, 2010). Those children that are diagnosed with ADHD
are usually prescribed psycho stimulant medications, such as methylphenidate , otherwise known as
Ritalin , as the primary method of treatment. (Chandler, 2010). But a few questions arise are children
misdiagnosed with a mental disorder, when there is simply a diet flaw that could be changed? Are
children eating highly processed foods with too much sugar, being diagnosed with ADHD, but in
actuality they have a surplus of sugar or a bad diet? Parents are searching for answers, on what are the
best ways to treat their children. Some doctors believe that changing a child s diet, by eliminating
processed foods can help alleviate symptoms. However, there are doctors, who believe this is untrue.
Presented, in this paper, are the many sides of the argument can changing a child s diet

The Flying Machine And Its Impact On The World
The flying machine has impacted the world in many ways. From the beginning pioneer ages of flight,
the Wright Brothers had created the Wright Glider and, later on, the Wright Flyer. Wilbur and Orville
Wright had tested the flying machine a biplane made from bike parts and cloth that would help it be
the first of it s kind to sustain stable flight patterns. Now in the modern day, aircraft are made out of
composite materials and have better mechanisms, like hydraulic systems, for example. In the first
stages of developing the Wright Flyer, different materials, machines, and implemented devices were
added as testing with the aeroplane went on. On December 17, 1903, the brothers finally made four
successful flights. (NASA, 3). The Wright brothers had finally gotten the Wright Flyer, a hunk of
wooden structure with cloth wings and a 12 horsepower engine using bicycle parts, to make a few
short but successful flights. On December 17th, 1903, the first flying machine capable of sustained
flight, the Wright Flyer, had first taken flight. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Wright Brothers chose Kitty Hawk as their place of work because of winds that could help lift their

The Value Of Enterprise And Trade
Today s economy was founded upon the fundamentals of capitalism and continues to find its strength
in the presence of freedom of enterprise and trade. Regulation and taxes are vital in order to support
fairness amongst businesses and to provide funds for the government to develop and maintain the
country s infrastructure. Most companies distribute some of the company s accumulated profits, so
that is why it is important to characterize the distribution under whether it is deductible or not. As
there are many different types of distributions, it is necessary for the tax paying entity to understand
the distribution so that each type can be deducted appropriately. Before we can get into what type of

Graffiti War
What do the graffiti wars say about social relations of inequality and power in cities?
Unequal power relations seemingly drive the war against graffiti. Arguably, this war targets
marginalized individuals in poor communities, more specifically; it targets poor Black and Latino
youth. Chronopolous (2011) argues that graffiti is seen as a threat to social disorder and suggests that
communities festered with graffiti are out of control (Chronopoulous 2011, pg. 77 78). This is as a
result of authorities seeing the act of graffiti writing as a domination of public spaces by Blacks and
Latinos. Not to mention, they also consider graffiti artists as criminals, disturbed, insignificant,
insecure, cowards, and socially maladjusted; which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As stated by Taki, an influential graffiti artist when addressing the concern authorities held about his
graffiti writing, Why they go after the little guy? Why not campaign organizations that put stickers all
over the subways at election time? (Chronopoulos 2011, pg. 81). Though, graffiti is deemed as
legitimate when it is used to generate profit, which is seen through the recent increased demand for
graffiti with the purpose of beautification and gentrification. Evidently, the growing concern over
graffiti in public spaces is driven by the conflict graffiti creates when obstructing advertisements,
which generate increased consumption and profit. It also demonstrates the lack of tolerance the
dominant class has for the promotion of dominance by the lower class. Moreover, constant public
proclamations which urged people to see graffiti writing as a social safety issue, has certainly
influenced the demand for anti graffiti efforts and the attitudes upper and middle class whites had
towards Blacks and Latinos (Chronopoulos 2011, pg. 87)
There are many associations with graffiti writing, Hip hop being the first. Though the emergence of
graffiti can be attributed to street gangs; which, they used to mark their territories (Chronopoulos
2011, pg. 79), graffiti began to merge with hip hop culture in the 70s (Chronopoulos 2011, pg. 82).
Ultimately, this combination promoted the public domination over public spaces in New York City

infected with anthrax. As we stand right now, America is unprepared for a large scale attack with
biological weapons, and as we continue with our War on Terrorism, the likelihood of such an attack is
increasing every day. Terrorists can use three major methods to most effectively distribute a biological
agent in the US: 1) air dispersal to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Several methods have been suggested for the massive airborne release of biological agents. Crop
dusters, the most likely, are designed to release high concentrations of pesticides over large areas. This
form of pesticide distribution exactly parallels the optimal methods for dispersal of a harmful
biological agent. Stationary sprayers have also been implicated as a potential source of biological
attack and could include backpack sprayers, agricultural sprayers, or even perfume atomizers (Danzig
Berkowsky, 1997). Airborne schemes of distribution are virtually uncontrollable by government
agencies. Crop dusters are available to anyone with a pilot s license and backpack sprayers can be
found in most hardware stores. The consequence of the recent anthrax attacks through the US Postal
service pale in comparison to the potential consequences of such an airborne attack.
Although anthrax is not contagious, there are numerous potential airborne agents that are. Once a
contagious infecting agent, such as smallpox or the plague, enters a population, it can spread very
quickly from one person to the next. With the speed and popularity of air travel, an infection can
spread across the country or even the world, in a matter of days. The contamination of one person with
a highly contagious disease in an airport is all

The sport cars that are used in the sport are not affordable by normal people and since they are custom
made to the requirements of the Grand Prix Circuits they cannot be rushed on the roads in the same
manner. The impractical designs are sport oriented and after the race the cars have to be stored or their
parts are utilized in other ways which leads to wastage of some sorts which cannot be recuperated
(Henry, 2000). Hence the sport cannot qualify to the standards of being called economic and
financially healthy. The economic issues are followed by social issues. The sport is a high energy sport
in which a lot of unethical aspects get involved despite of all the attempts to keep it sane and safe.
Initially the sport was held on public roads that led to severe accidents. Due to the uncontrollably high
speeding of the cars the accidents were unavoidable and this resulted in dire disasters. These sports
were held for public between the public but the cost that was being paid was a lot higher than the
pleasure they were given which made it quite risky. After much thinking the sport was modified for
safety and the circuits were designed to suit the requirements of the race and the cars could speed
easily on these. Since the roads were now clear of passengers the speed limits of the cars raised even
more. This resulted in more aggression being developed in the players and the viewers as well. The
investment that was being put in making these circuits needed more money

Corporate Social Responsibility has Risen to Prominence...
What is CSR and why has it risen to prominence in the past decade?
There are now several concepts of CSR and its definition, along with the meaning across corporations.
In my opinion, and according with our textbook in page 11. CSR is about a particular set of business
and strategies that deal with social issues. In addition, we can clearly perceive that CSRs application
along corporations has increase in the past decade due to the several local, and international
regulations in order to enforce business to act responsible.

SMEs, the public and civil sectors.
There are several factors that determine that at the moment CSR is primarily relevant to large private
sectors, according with our textbook, First, SMEs are informal in nature and this reason lack the need
for bureaucratic systems and its structures due to the advantages of small size businesses. Second,
large corporations, are often under the loop of the society and their actions are visible and vulnerable
to criticism. And third, usually the small business are manger by the owner and for this reason, there is
not obligation or direct pressure to serve the shareholders to maximize or return their investment at
any cost.

Socrates And Louis Riel
Throughout history, great minds have used situational platforms like trials to advance their ideas to
large audiences. Socrates and Louis Riel are no exception to this and used their respected trials as a
means of conveying a final political statement. This is evident in both Plato s The Trial and Death of
Socrates and Hans V. Hansen s Reil s Defense: Perspectives on his Speeches. Both men s speeches can
be seen as weak examples of forensic rhetoric and strong examples of political rhetoric due to the fact
that Socrates and Riel both believed in a divine mission and cause much larger than themselves. It is
clear that neither man set out to win their trial, and I argue that both Socrates and Riel s speeches were
intended to politically inspire as they both saw themselves as martyrs for a greater cause.
Socrates trial speech can be considered one of the most important examples of political rhetoric in
history. Socrates was brought before the courts on charges of impiety and corrupting the youth of
Athens because of his teachings and the politico philosophic questions he posed to his students. At the
time Socrates was 70 and could have easily fled Athens with the help of his supporters however he
chose to stay in Athens to face the legal consequences of his actions. Socrates had no intention of
winning his trial, as Brumbaugh notes Socrates was not arrested [...] but was summoned to the court of
the First Archon to file his answer to the charges against him (pg.232,

Horse Creative Writing
I walked past stalls of horses to a new off track thoroughbred named
Damien serenely peering into the aisle. My trainer had asked me to ride him. As I picked his hooves
and curried his chestnut flanks, he was as tranquil as autumn leaves in a gentle breeze until he saw the
saddle, then he became a tornado whirling around the center of the stall.
I lead him by leather reins to the outdoor ring where my trainer would see him work for the first time.
He trotted circles around me and spooked at the wind. I returned to the barn and let him run and buck
so he could burn off extra energy. When I heard my trainer s golf cart stop in front of the barn, I
caught him and prepared to mount. My trainer arrived and held his bridle while I put my foot in the
stirrup. When foot made contact with iron, the horse bolted. He spun himself in circles around my
trainer while I balanced half on, half off struggling to find the saddle and my balance. As soon as I
was seated, the horse was loose. I gathered my reins and sat as calmly as I could. Suddenly, he bucked
and threw me forward. As I fell onto his neck, he continued bucking. My trainer yelled, Sit up! Pick

It s Time to Move Beyound Race Essay
In Michael Omi and Howard Winant s essay Racial Formation , we see how the tendency to assign
each individual a specific race as misleading. This essay suggests that race is not merely biological,
but rather lays more in sociology and historical perspective. Once we look at someone and say, They
re white , it brings forth all the stereotype s that go along with that race , and once the race is assigned,
it is assumed that we can know something about the person.
Indeed, if we were to accept that people do fall nicely into specific races, it would seem to ascribe a
sort of universality to the group. In other words, if a black man from Kenya was raised in Chicago, IL,
rather than Kenya, due to his biological race, it could be assumed the ... Show more content on

This also doesn t convince us that attributing every individual to a certain category is even beneficial
or necessary.
Ultimately, the paper states that once we designate someone as a certain race, we then have a basis to
differentiate ourselves. This serves a people in power the most, as when the Irish Americans, though
viewed as somewhat unruly, were still able to enter and run for public office because of naturalization
laws of the late nineteenth century. Once it was established in the United States that there were
competing groups out there in the labor force, namely African, Asian, Latin, and Mexican Americans,
it became advantageous to draw a color line to create a large group, those of lighter skin color, to raise
and continue to hold the power through numbers and mass alone.
Once it becomes established that a group s tendencies are of a natural prescription, as in the Ethnic
Notions film, and once the greater society adheres to the simple guidelines fed to them, the argument
is then taken out of the minority group s hands. Immutable then would describe the group lacking
power enough to break the stereotype. This social construction of race, one that lumps a mass of
people into an ambiguous category, becomes an enigma. In order for the group to break free from this,
they must acquire a perspective, but their morale is so beaten that they are happy to have any place in
the society, so the enigma grows. One thing is evident; we could

The Greek Island Of Crete
Located on the Greek island of Crete is the ancient Palace of Knossos. It is found on the outskirts of
the modern day city, Heraklion. The city of Knossos, as shown below, is directly focused in the centre
of Crete and is slightly off the north coast. Even more so, it is situated south of the Greek mainland.
Knossos, in simplistic terms, is an ancient Minoan palace and surrounding city on the island of Crete,
where it was sung of by Homer in his Odyssey. The marvelled settlement was established in 1900
BCE and was later destroyed by a combination of factors, such as earthquakes and invading
Mycenaean s. However, it was rebuilt to its former glory. The palace covered an area of 22,000 square
meters, which was complimented by multistorey buildings with an elaborate layout. Before its
discovery, Knossos was considered as a city of myth. Evidently, this immediately changed once this
ancient society was unearthed to reveal the mysteries that were for years left unknown. To this day, the
reconstructed palace is on display for tourists from around the world to gain an insight into the ancient
Minoan society.
The excavations at Knossos were executed into three main dating periods: 1900 1931, 1957 1960,
1969 1970. The initial investigation of this site that began in 1900, however, comprised of the most
important discoveries. The excavations at Knossos were extensive, in which multiple archaeologists

4. The Renaissance and Reformism
The reformation, owing both to the wishes of its academic founders and to the popular tendencies
underlying it, concerned itself largely with popular preaching. It is a widespread error to assume that
there was little popular preaching in the Middle Ages. It is true that there were many bishops and
parish priests who shirked their canonical duties in this respect, but there was much popular
instruction; there was, especially among the friars, much simple, at times even sensational, mission
preaching. But the deepening of religious life that preceded the reformation led men to employ with
greater diligence all means of helping others, and popular preaching was thus more widely used. Here
again, both a conservative and a revolutionary tendency are observable. On the one hand, we can trace
the fuller but continuous history of the older use of sermons. On the other hand, we find the tendency,
seen at its strongest in Zwinglianism, to exalt the sermon above the sacraments, to put the pulpit in
place of the altar. Both tendencies made the literature of sermons more popular, and more significant.
But, in the literature thus revived, the

Persuasive Essay On Student Loans
College students graduate with an average student loan debt of approximately $37000. Of course, that
s not the whole story. Millions of college graduates have student loan debts ranging from $50,000 to
over $200,000.
With debt like that and sluggish economic growth, it s no wonder that more than a million people
defaulted on their student loans in 2016 alone.
Sometimes, though, the problem isn t the debt or a person s salary. The problem is the way student
loans get billed.
Say a student transferred from one college to another then attended graduate school. She could be
getting bills from three or more lenders every month.
If you struggle to keep track of who you owe money to at what time, it s probably time for you to
consolidate school loans.
Let s jump in and look at some of the reasons why.
Consolidate School Loans to Get One Interest Rate
Student loans interest rates change from year to year. Congress sets them based on performance in the
financial markets.
Say you spent four years as an undergrad and six years in graduate school. That means you re paying
student loans at ten interest rates. Depending on when you got the loans, there s a good chance that
some of those rates are higher than the current going rate.
Consolidating your loans lets you lock them all down at a single interest rate. If you time it right, you
can trim thousands off the total interest you pay over the lifetime of the loan.
Let s say you took out $100,000 in loans with average interest

Cultural Bound Syndromes ( Cbs )
The subject of cultural bound syndromes (CBS) is one of the most interesting of the study of medical
anthropology and psychology. The term is used to refer to particular conditions or symptom
complexes, cognitive, behavioral or affective, which are apparently unique to specific cultures
(Balhara, 2011). These culture related specific conditions may occur due to a particular set of
environmental conditions combined with distinctive cultural practices within the limited area of
occurrence, for that reason being exotic and somewhat rare. The way they are experienced is heavily
influenced by their culture. They range in deadliness from causing comparatively insignificant and
perhaps harmless medical complications to grave ones and sometimes ... Show more content on

Several of these disorders have however been contested by modern medicine as being fallacious in
their label as culture bound while others have held their ground as fact.
Examples of these cultural conditions include Kuru, which is a lethal, incurable, degenerative West
African (predominant in Guinea) disease affecting the central nervous system. It is caused by a prion
found in humans and said to be transmitted via endocannibalism. Another condition is the Windigo
psychosis which referred to a paranoia characterized by cannibalistic psychological predispositions
among Native American tribes such as Cree, Ojibwa and Chippewa due to food scarcity during winter.
Those affected would suffer severe anxiety, sometimes resulting in suicide to avoid turning into the
flesh eating Windigo monsters. Yet another of the reproductive kind with a psychological connection
is the Oriental (mainly Indian) Dhat (O Neil, 2010).
The Dhat Syndrome
This culture restricted condition has been mainly associated with the Asian continent, the Indian
subcontinent in particular, and is also known as the sexual psychosis of the Orient or the anxiety of
semen loss. It is quite common, especially among the Indian people and it mainly occurs in young
men from their late teens to their forties. The word dhat is derived from dhatu , a Sanskrit word,
meaning elixir constituting the body (Mehta, De, Balachandran, 2009). In clinical psychology, it is

Production Quality And Environmental Management
The definition of precision agriculture is still evolving as technology changes and our understanding
of what is achievable grows. Over the years, the emphasis has changed from simply farming by soil
(Buchan), through variable rate technologies, to vehicle guidance systems and will evolve to product
quality and environmental management. An important effect of precision farming is the high
environmental benefit from using chemical and fertilization treatments only when and where they are
necessary. These promotions of environmental stewardship are key components for the new
approaches in agriculture. Precision agriculture is most often thought of as a method of farm
management that uses advanced technology to allow the farmer to produce more efficiently, thereby
realizing gains through economical use of resources.
Ensuring food security and feeding a fast growing population with limited resources is a major
challenge for today s agriculturalists. However, producers are committed to succeeding by continuing
to develop increasingly innovative and efficient products and solutions to revolutionize agriculture.
Over the past few decades, as larger and faster farm machines have delivered the capability to manage
expanding farms, farmers have, for the most part, continued to treat large fields as uniform elements.
However, a new method of farming called precision agriculture is rapidly emerging. The United States
Department of Agriculture defines precision agriculture as, A

The outcome of this modus operandi is a rational decision that is, one that most effectively achieves a

either large and basic or limited changes in public policies. Perhaps it is important to note that these

Essay about The Words of the Dying Gaunt
The idea of England as a second paradise in a postlapsarian world was a popular thought in
Shakespeare s day. Not only did Englanders compare their land the to Biblical Eden, but also to
Classical legends that would have flourished in the Renaissance era. The fact that Britain is an island
isolated from the rest of the world invited the comparison of England to mythical islands such as the
Islands of the Blest and Homer s Ogygia (Mackenzie 319). Such comparisons surely originated in the
strong patriotism that thrived in the Elizabethan era. Shakespeare capitalized on this feeling through
his history plays, which both instructed his audience on England s past and fed the patriotic ego of her
citizens (Reese 46). Nowhere does ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This warning foreshadows Richard s confiscation of Gaunt s estate and the rebellion staged by
Bullingbrook, Gaunt s son and rightful heir.
The next portion of Gaunt s speech reverberates the idea of England as a second paradise. The image
of England throughout Richard II is not only presented through pictures of glorious landscape and
well tended gardens, but through its citizens, both royal and common (Stauffer 92). Gaunt fluidly but
forcefully presents images of England throughout his speech. He gives a list of qualities in a rhythmic
tour de force (Best), which connects all of England s attributes with the word this :
This royal throne of kings, this sceptered isle,
This earth of majesty, this seat of Mars,
This other Eden, demi paradise,
This fortress built by Nature for herself (40 44)
These images present England as embodying physical attributes given by God.
Gaunt continues this list of attributes by also praising England s citizens by referring to them as This
happy breed of men (45). The land is therefore credited for producing high quality men, lending to the
theme of England as female, fertile and mother to all her inhabitants. She is further

According to Isaiah 37:25 29, God had given Assyria the power that it had and allowed them to

Literary Analysis Of Pablo Picasso s Guernica
Julius Byla

English 101
10/22/17
Picasso s Guernica Throughout time paintings have been used to record events, communicate ideas or
evoke an emotional response. Pablo Picasso s painting Guernica does just this. Guernica was created
to bring attention to the Nazi bombing of the town of Guernica, Spain during the Spanish civil war in
the second half of the 1930s. Its exhibition was used to provide relief and a call against the horrors of
war. Through its visual elements and symbolic concepts, Guernica depicts the chaos and aftermath of
the bombing of the city and the need to bring about change over the tragedies of war. Standing at a
massive seven feet by twenty five feet, this black and white painting depicts a massacre of the
bombing of the town of Guernica. The composition of the work is a dimly lit space, the only light
coming from an eye shaped light at center top of the painting and a woman holding a lantern next to it.
From left to right, the scene contains a screaming bull beneath it a woman holding a dead child. In the
center there is a mangled horse pierced by spear and below it, the mangled body of a fallen soldier. To
the right are three women, one crawling towards the light, above her is a woman leaning out of a
window holding a lit lantern and the other screaming while falling from a burning building. Guernica
captures the brutal chaos of the bombing with its physical action and intended symbolism. Being black
and white, the painting represents the somber

Losing Sleep Research Paper
Why are Americans losing sleep? Nearly 8 out of 10 Americans openly admit that they will feel better
if they had just one extra hour of sleep each night. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has
called a national sleep epidemic, U.S. adults consistently chose against getting more sleep even when
the opportunity is given to them, states The Better Sleep Council. If Americans are so sleep deprived
and are aware of it, why are they not getting enough sleep at night? The causes that may be
contributing to this national sleep deprivation range from the access to technology, to stress, and to
even wanting to work later than office hours. Many experts state that due to the new availability of
technology and the never ending variety

Women s Struggle For Equality
Women in American society have endured numerous struggles to fight for equality throughout history.
Today American women have come a long way by narrowing gender gaps and becoming successful in
aspects of life that are prominently male dominated. Although American women are living a better life
than they were years ago, they still deal with inequality when it comes to the workforce, income,
politics, domestic duties, and sex. The reason women are not equal to men in these aspects of life are
because men hold most of the jobs in the STEM fields of work, make higher incomes than women in
the same level of employment, dominate congress and the government, not looked upon to take care
of the house duties, and are praised for sex rather than shamed like women are. Living as an American
woman today is far from difficult but in contrast, living as an American man is still substantially
better. Women have dealt with constant battles in the workplace but the most important was the ability
to work alongside men in any field of employment. As stated in the article, Women in the Professional
Workplace by Jennifer Dorning, the status for women in the workforce has improved over the last
several decades, but many women still struggle for equality in many occupations (Dorning). For
example, women are extremely underrepresented in the fields of science, technology development,
and engineering making up only 20% of the people employed in these particular categories (Pinker).

Fortunato Revenge
The act of revenge means to avenge oneself or another by retaliating in kind or degree. Many people
seek revenge for a variety of different reasons. While some situations warrant vengeance, other times
it is unnecessary or goes too far. Every person is not the same, so it varies from person to person what
initiates the desire for revenge. In The Cask of Amontillado by Edgar Allen Poe, Fortunato wrongs his
friend Montresor, the protagonist. Although what Fortunato does is unknown, Montresor seeks
extreme revenge. Montresor completely blindsides Fortunato with this pursuit of revenge as Fortunato
does not know he is in the wrong. One perceives by Montresor s actions towards Fortunato that his
exploitative behavior reveals his personal thirst ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Montresor first meets Fortunato at the carnival, Fortunato is already noticeably tipsy.
Morsberger states, To accomplish it, Montresor waits until carnival season, a time of supreme
madness, when Fortunato, already half drunk and costumed as a jester, is particularly vulnerable (1).
After convincing Fortunato to come back his vault, Montresor does not stop him from drinking.
Montresor continues to encourage Fortunato to drink more as they are walking through the catacombs.
This continues to happen as they approach the vault. Montresor encourages Fortunato by saying, But
first, another draught of the Medoc (Poe 53). Fortunato s drunkenness allows Montresor to manipulate
him easily as he has no indication of what is happening. Without being under the influence, Montresor
knows his task would be much more difficult. By getting him drunk, Montresor is able to get him to
do exactly what he wants. This makes the task of killing him almost effortless for Montresor. When
Fortunato goes to search for the stored wine, Montresor suddenly chains him and traps him to the wall.
In his article, Method to the Madness, Mcgrath explains, As the story unfolds, with growing unease
we begin to understand that it s on account of these slights, and the insult that follows them, that
Fortunato has been condemned, by Montresor, to be bricked up in the dank vaults of a crumbling
palazzo (2). Montresor taunts Fortunato and walls

The Triptych Summary
In the catalytic egg article, speculative chemistry was not a religions attempt but rather all the
reasonable, true blue exploration of refining, whose research center strategies shape the premise of
present day science. it was certain that the point and relationship of Bosch s most striking work, the
gathered garden of regular satisfactions triptych, looks to some degree like a fundamental reactant
moral story that disentangles refining as the rehashing creation, decimation, and revival of the world
and its tenants. The substitute extremes were stood out from Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden,
who were joined by Christ as a conclusive pro and specialist. The second step was the growth of
Adam and Eve into the all inclusive community of the world, contrasting with the dynamic unification
of the four segments into a balanced, whole body. By then came organize three, the troublesome
cleaning process, or ruining and obscuring of the arrays of the gatekeepers and their adolescents,
accomplished by hearing the scientific expert s fixings in the most smoking fire possible. It was
symbolized by torment, mutilation, and segment of the converse segments heretofore taken part in
marriage, and Bosch painted his version of it on the third leading group of the triptych, depicting the
most despicable scene of hellfire, torment, and immolation anytime realized by the human inventive
vitality.

The Romans believed in a large array of gods (Bleiberg, 2005). Some included Mars, God of War, and
Janus, God of the Household, and there are many more Gods that that have their own meanings. (Nice,
2016). Since the Ancient Romans believed in such a variety of gods, they are considered polytheists
(Bleiberg, 2005). The Romans also believed that everything on Earth, living or otherwise, contained a
spirit; including rocks, rivers, and trees. The Romans would also do rituals based on this belief. For
example, before going to war the General would shake a spear, one sacred to the God of War Mars, at
the foot of Mar s alter. This would tell the General whether Mars spirit was apprehensive about the
upcoming battle by causing mars spirit to move the spear. Through reviewing Ancient Rome s rituals
and beliefs, it can be said that Ancient Romans were both polytheists and animists (Bleiberg,

Diversity In The Movie Freedom Writers
Everybody thinks you should be happy just because you re young. They don t see the wars that we
fight every single day . Brandy Ross, one of the students in the movie Freedom Writers once said. This
is the predicament that the students in Woodrow Wilson High School faced every day. There are dead
bodies on the street, the students have to protect themselves from other gangs, and most of them didn t
finish high school. It might not be a big issue for us because we didn t face it by ourselves, but after
watching this movie you will know that it is a significant thing to look at. The differences among race
caused all of these problems, to deal with this is not easy at all. Freedom Writers show us that we can

another. Ethics, skin color, and how you look are the things that make you who you are. Erin does not
only inspire the students, but the audience too. She never gave up on her position, moreover she is
enhanced in it each day. She didn t change the student s character, but she changed the student s point
of view and it made them feel like their lives were worth living. She broke down the walls that
separated the students from each other. This movie demonstrated that to change how we think about
our life can make our life different. The song in this movie helps in making the story more interesting,
you can clearly see how the story flows and how all the problems were solved. This movie shows us
what is happening now in our world, they demonstrated us the conflict and showed us that many

Initial Diagnosis And Treatment Plan Process
Initial Diagnosis and Treatment Plan Process
Listening to a client during an initial session and applying reflective listening techniques
can put you in the mindfulness moment with the client. By being a mindful listener as a therapist,
I believe it helps with being able to diagnose your client more accurate. It is important to have a
system or flow of questions during your intake process, so it can provide the clinician with viable
information regarding that client and their concerns, from there you can create a specific treatment
plan. Without a client rapport, it is difficult to effectively counsel someone because people don t
like to listen or talk to other people they don t trust, therefore, building a rapport with your client
is important. Not only is building a rapport important for a counselor, but we must rely on our
interviewing skills to obtain valuable information. From intake to completion of treatment, the
intake interview is typically when the treatment association begins between the client and the
counselor. At the same time during the intake process, there is a large amount of personal data
that can be collected thru a general checklist of question including symptoms that can help with
diagnosing the client. When initial meeting between the client and counselor one can start off with
the two basic greeting questions:
1. How are you feeling today?
2. What brings you in today?

  • 3. The Opposition Of The Privileged Has Been Around Since The... The ruling of the privileged has been around since the conception of organized society. The state is nothing but an instrument of oppression of one class by another no less so in a democratic republic than in a monarchy. This is a quote from social scientist Fredrich Engels that shows the outlook of most people towards a privileged ruling; this system was deemed unfair to the majority, which led to monarchies, the main representative of minority ruling, losing their power. Although we believe the true power in modern democratic societies rests on the majority, it truly rests with the powerful elite. The basis for schlock sociology is that American society has become so complex and technical that a new upper class has been created to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Moscovici, a major psychologist, he states that they also possess authority by bringing attention to themselves and disrupting the established norm through their confidence in their alternative views, which leads to the minority internalizing their views (Underwood). The major distinguishing factors of the upper class compared to the rest of society is their education, occupation, and their ideals. Most major leaders in any industry have attended top institutions that are known for their prestigious alumni, it is shown that 54% of corporate leaders and 42% of political leaders only attended twelve schools which include schools such as Yale and Stanford (Reynolds). Many of these institutions do not just rely on good grades, but also on social profile and it is shown that it is practically impossible to flunk out of American colleges since the seventies (Codevilla). These persistent school trends show the close minded atmosphere that racks the upper class, which also leads to less disagreements due to the fact that so many ideas receive no competition from other major elites. Their occupations are also very consistent, they tend to command top societal posts which gives them authority over financial, educational, social, civic, and cultural institutions (Reynolds). • 4. The Effect Of Sucrose Concentration On The Rate Of... Determining the effect of varying sucrose concentration on the rate of anaerobic cell respiration in yeasts Introduction: The research question asks how varying sucrose concentrations affect the rate of anaerobic cell respiration in yeast, measured in CO2 production. The rate of anaerobic respiration will be determined by measuring the rate of CO2 production by the yeast cells. The hypothesis stats that as the sucrose concentration is increased, rate of respiration will increase and therefore the CO2 production of yeast cells will rise. Sucrose is a disaccharide composed of the monosaccharaides glucose and fructose. Glucose is a reactant in anaerobic cell respiration. In the absence of oxygen, glucose will react with the yeast producing ethanol and CO2. Independent variable Sucrose concentration The sucrose concentration in the solution was varied to 10%, 20%, 30%, 40% and 50% in order to examine the effect of varying sucrose concentration on the CO2 production of yeast cells. Dependent variable CO2 production The CO2 production was measured with a CO2 meter (+/ 1ppm), in order to determine the rate of anaerobic cell respiration in yeast. Controlled variable Yeast 10.0 mg (+/ 0.5mg) of yeast were added for each trial Time For every trial, the CO2 production was constantly measured for 300 seconds (+/ 1 second) Temperature The room temperature was measured throughout the lab and kept constant at 24°C (+/ 1°C), as the lab was conducted during the same time of ... • 5. Monuments And Masculinity In Roland Emmerich s... Monuments and Masculinity Roland Emmerich s Independence Day (1996) mirrors the ideology of a sci fi film outlined by Susan Sontag in the Imagination of Disaster so closely that it borders on a lack of creativity. That is what qualifies this film as a revival of the sci fi genre following revisionist works like Steven Spielberg s E.T. the Extra Terrestrial (1982). This film, among other things, believes that femininity in leadership will lead to disaster on the political stage and that personal relationships should mirror the ideals of this government balance. This scene uses framing and set design re erect themes of the traditional sci fi ideology such as the military embodiment of masculinity and the weak femininity of a scientist . This scene also sets the stage for what Sontag calls the balance of a good war and the yearning for peace which unfolds throughout the film. The ideology of Independence Day is despairingly unoriginal, touching on almost all themes outlined by Sontag as what makes the science fiction genre. Queuing up stage Sontag s third stage of the science fiction film, In the capital of the country, conferences between scientists and the military take place... ; of course, the difference being these shots are in Area 51. Intertitles clearly define for the viewer where the jet is heading, doing so it is reinforcing the authority they have to travel there. This is an ironic move considering the random assortment of civilians they have on board, and the lack of authority they had not even an hour prior. The set design and misé en scene are so blatantly full of military machismo as the president is seen peaking his character metamorphosis between an effeminate man and the strong leader. Slowly, a beyond oversized commercial airliner prop pulls into the base s set absolutely truncating the figures in every frame. The minimalist décor on the base exterior of the base contrasts with the extravagance of the ridiculous jet. The implications of the size of the machine and the machismo of its passengers, or the size of their genitals, is overbearing. It s one of the many phallic displays of power and masculinity that can be seen throughout the film, but this one obviously aids as a visual ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Comments in Jansen words saying South Africa is a sick nation: I agree, because according to Jansen: We burn down and break down:  Every time there is a problem people doesn t like to wait for negotiations with the government but they just burn the properties of the state and all the important assets for service delivery and equipment.  If people strike they burn cars, hospitals, police stations and they forget that tomorrow they will need those things that is why I agree with Jansen that South Africa is a sick country. We turn over garbage cans:  We take all the trash cans and pour them on the street as a sign of being angry and not satisfied and this can result in problems such as dirty streets, air and land pollution and it will affect our lives and put our lives in danger. We beat each other senseless with chairs in the political rallies:  We don t have shame or don t think for the lives of others because we harm them in such a way as if they don t live with us they are not part of us and we destroy our morals and respect by fighting our brothers and sister instead of fighting the problems that we are facing in the country. We threaten each other and we kill each other  We like to set standard for others and tell them if they don t reach those standard or certain activities that they were given we are going to kill them.  We forget that killing each other won t bring peace in our nation but it will just bring shame and too much hatred to us and we won t ... • 10. My Psychology Course And Remembered About The Cerebral... I decided to write my literature after going through one of the textbooks in my physiological psychology course and remembered about the cerebral hemispheres, which receives sensory information from opposite sides of the body. This got interested in the topic of cerebral hemispheres and sensory information after a split brain operation. The split brain procedure is a surgical operation that s used for people that have severe epilepsy that can t be controlled by the drugs they take. In the brains of people with severe epilepsy, the nerve cells on one side of the brain are overactive and the overactivity is relayed to the other side by the corpus callosum, a bundle of nerve cells that connect certain parts of one side of the brain to the other. The corpus callosum enables the left and right side of the brain to share information so that both sides knows what the other is doing and perceiving. Both sides of the brain engage in out of control activity that stimulate each other, causing stereotypical seizures that recur throughout the day preventing the person from living a normal life. Neurosurgeons have discovered that severing the corpus callosum greatly reduces the often recurring seizures. After the brain split procedure, the brain is divided into two hemispheres that work independently of each other. Their sensory mechanisms, and motor systems no longer relay information. To the casual observer they disconnection isn t obvious for the elementary reason that one hemisphere ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The truth is that anyone reading this paper from the internet has the right to know that someone thousands of miles away could very well be watching (Orwell). On top of this shocking fact, a victim would never even know they were being watched. George Orwell knew what he was talking about when he wrote of a society in which all things are monitored by the government and an individual s right to privacy is breached for the sake of peace and safety. Maybe government does have the right to obtain what they want for their discretion, and we should trust that they will not abuse that power. It is true that the people of America do not know the plans of various government agencies, and perhaps it is best that we accept that and let them do their work. Besides, just imagine all of the terrorist attacks and other incidents that will be prevented by these national security measures. While all these points are logical, they re missing the point. Ignorance is not bliss, and a privacy invasion such as one that is occurring now cannot continue. These national security measures are slowly eating away our basic freedoms and liberties. Though, graffiti is deemed as legitimate when it is used to generate profit, which is seen through the recent increased demand for graffiti with the purpose of beautification and gentrification. As recently as 1996, a man from Ohio with connections to an extremist group was able to obtain Bubonic Plague cultures through the US Postal Service (Danzig Berkowsky, 1997). In the last month, several people within the United States have become infected with anthrax. As we stand right now, America is unprepared for a large scale attack with biological weapons, and as we continue with our War on Terrorism, the likelihood of such an attack is increasing every day. Several methods have been suggested for the massive airborne release of biological agents. Crop dusters, the most likely, are designed to release high concentrations of pesticides over large areas. Stationary sprayers have also been implicated as a potential source of biological attack and could include backpack sprayers, agricultural sprayers, or even perfume atomizers (Danzig Berkowsky, 1997). Airborne schemes of distribution are virtually uncontrollable by government agencies. Crop dusters are available to anyone with a pilot s license and backpack sprayers can be found in most hardware stores. • 24. Socrates And Louis Riel Throughout history, great minds have used situational platforms like trials to advance their ideas to large audiences. Socrates and Louis Riel are no exception to this and used their respected trials as a means of conveying a final political statement. This is evident in both Plato s The Trial and Death of Socrates and Hans V. Hansen s Reil s Defense: Perspectives on his Speeches. Both men s speeches can be seen as weak examples of forensic rhetoric and strong examples of political rhetoric due to the fact that Socrates and Riel both believed in a divine mission and cause much larger than themselves. It is clear that neither man set out to win their trial, and I argue that both Socrates and Riel s speeches were intended to politically inspire as they both saw themselves as martyrs for a greater cause. Socrates trial speech can be considered one of the most important examples of political rhetoric in history. Socrates was brought before the courts on charges of impiety and corrupting the youth of Athens because of his teachings and the politico philosophic questions he posed to his students. At the time Socrates was 70 and could have easily fled Athens with the help of his supporters however he chose to stay in Athens to face the legal consequences of his actions. Once it was established in the United States that there were competing groups out there in the labor force, namely African, Asian, Latin, and Mexican Americans, it became advantageous to draw a color line to create a large group, those of lighter skin color, to raise and continue to hold the power through numbers and mass alone. Once it becomes established that a group s tendencies are of a natural prescription, as in the Ethnic Notions film, and once the greater society adheres to the simple guidelines fed to them, the argument is then taken out of the minority group s hands. Immutable then would describe the group lacking power enough to break the stereotype. This social construction of race, one that lumps a mass of people into an ambiguous category, becomes an enigma. The Renaissance and Reformism The reformation, owing both to the wishes of its academic founders and to the popular tendencies underlying it, concerned itself largely with popular preaching. It is a widespread error to assume that there was little popular preaching in the Middle Ages. It is true that there were many bishops and parish priests who shirked their canonical duties in this respect, but there was much popular instruction; there was, especially among the friars, much simple, at times even sensational, mission preaching. But the deepening of religious life that preceded the reformation led men to employ with greater diligence all means of helping others, and popular preaching was thus more widely used. Here again, both a conservative and a revolutionary tendency are observable. On the one hand, we can trace the fuller but continuous history of the older use of sermons. On the other hand, we find the tendency, seen at its strongest in Zwinglianism, to exalt the sermon above the sacraments, to put the pulpit in place of the altar. These culture related specific conditions may occur due to a particular set of environmental conditions combined with distinctive cultural practices within the limited area of occurrence, for that reason being exotic and somewhat rare. Over the years, the emphasis has changed from simply farming by soil (Buchan), through variable rate technologies, to vehicle guidance systems and will evolve to product quality and environmental management. An important effect of precision farming is the high environmental benefit from using chemical and fertilization treatments only when and where they are necessary. These promotions of environmental stewardship are key components for the new approaches in agriculture. Precision agriculture is most often thought of as a method of farm management that uses advanced technology to allow the farmer to produce more efficiently, thereby realizing gains through economical use of resources. Ensuring food security and feeding a fast growing population with limited resources is a major challenge for today s agriculturalists. However, producers are committed to succeeding by continuing to develop increasingly innovative and efficient products and solutions to revolutionize agriculture. Guernica was created to bring attention to the Nazi bombing of the town of Guernica, Spain during the Spanish civil war in the second half of the 1930s. Its exhibition was used to provide relief and a call against the horrors of war. Through its visual elements and symbolic concepts, Guernica depicts the chaos and aftermath of the bombing of the city and the need to bring about change over the tragedies of war. Standing at a massive seven feet by twenty five feet, this black and white painting depicts a massacre of the bombing of the town of Guernica. The composition of the work is a dimly lit space, the only light coming from an eye shaped light at center top of the painting and a woman holding a lantern next to it. From left to right, the scene contains a screaming bull beneath it a woman holding a dead child. In the center there is a mangled horse pierced by spear and below it, the mangled body of a fallen soldier. To the right are three women, one crawling towards the light, above her is a woman leaning out of a window holding a lit lantern and the other screaming while falling from a burning building. Guernica captures the brutal chaos of the bombing with its physical action and intended symbolism. Being black and white, the painting represents the somber ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 42. Women s Struggle For Equality Women in American society have endured numerous struggles to fight for equality throughout history. Today American women have come a long way by narrowing gender gaps and becoming successful in aspects of life that are prominently male dominated. Although American women are living a better life than they were years ago, they still deal with inequality when it comes to the workforce, income, politics, domestic duties, and sex. The reason women are not equal to men in these aspects of life are because men hold most of the jobs in the STEM fields of work, make higher incomes than women in the same level of employment, dominate congress and the government, not looked upon to take care of the house duties, and are praised for sex rather than shamed like women are. Living as an American woman today is far from difficult but in contrast, living as an American man is still substantially better. Women have dealt with constant battles in the workplace but the most important was the ability to work alongside men in any field of employment. As stated in the article, Women in the Professional Workplace by Jennifer Dorning, the status for women in the workforce has improved over the last several decades, but many women still struggle for equality in many occupations (Dorning). For example, women are extremely underrepresented in the fields of science, technology development, and engineering making up only 20% of the people employed in these particular categories (Pinker). After convincing Fortunato to come back his vault, Montresor does not stop him from drinking. Montresor continues to encourage Fortunato to drink more as they are walking through the catacombs. This continues to happen as they approach the vault. Montresor encourages Fortunato by saying, But first, another draught of the Medoc (Poe 53). Initial Diagnosis And Treatment Plan Process Initial Diagnosis and Treatment Plan Process Listening to a client during an initial session and applying reflective listening techniques can put you in the mindfulness moment with the client. By being a mindful listener as a therapist, I believe it helps with being able to diagnose your client more accurate. It is important to have a system or flow of questions during your intake process, so it can provide the clinician with viable information regarding that client and their concerns, from there you can create a specific treatment plan. Without a client rapport, it is difficult to effectively counsel someone because people don t like to listen or talk to other people they don t trust, therefore, building a rapport with your client is important. Not only is building a rapport important for a counselor, but we must rely on our interviewing skills to obtain valuable information. From intake to completion of treatment, the intake interview is typically when the treatment association begins between the client and the counselor. At the same time during the intake process, there is a large amount of personal data that can be collected thru a general checklist of question including symptoms that can help with diagnosing the client.
