(1) NMDC has been engaged in CSR activities since the 1960s, starting with less than Rs. 1 lakh per year and gradually structuring its focus areas and developing a CSR policy through stakeholder consultation. (2) Major areas of CSR coverage include villages in Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, and other areas where NMDC operates. Initiatives over the past decade include infrastructure development, education, healthcare, and skill development programs. (3) Recent major CSR initiatives from 2008-2009 to present include scholarship programs, establishing schools and technical institutes, improving literacy, healthcare programs, integrated village development, and skill development training.
