Estonia for many years now
● This year, in the past few months it has turned
to positive again
● This is the problem of many European
countries
● The other big problem in Estonia's population is
that men die significally more in a younger age
than woman

Saaremaa's population-pyramid
● There is a big fall of population form year 25> and
it get's even bigger from year 30>
● This shows the biggest problem – young labour force is
moving away to mainland to gain better job
opportunities and achieve career
● Some of Saaremaa's population will return to the
island later on, but some of them will not
● Proportionally to Estonia as whole, Saaremaa has
more older people living in its society, because of
the return of labour force to the island from main-
land after working there for some time
