Hybrid Equals: Less than 51% Online

•    Combines face-to-face class time with Internet
•    Not self-paced
•    Benefits of hybrid courses
      o  Flexible for busy schedules
      o  Accessible 24-hours a day
      o  Interaction both on-campus
         & online
What is an "Online" Course?

Online Equals: 100% online

•    No on-campus instruction
•    Not self-paced
•    Requires online attendance, participation, & study
•    Benefits of online courses:
      o  Flexible for busy schedules
      o  Accessible 24-hours a day
      o  Diverse interaction options
What’s the Real Difference?
What is the "Angel" System?

Angel is LWTC’s Learning Management System

•    Provides access to:
      o  Grades
      o  Course material & homework
      o  Online communication tools
STEP 1: Know Important Dates

Spring Quarter 2010

•    Access to Angel begins:       March 25, 2010
•    Online instruction begins:    March 31, 2010
•    Hybrid instruction begins:    April 1, 2010
•    Last day for a full refund:   April 7, 2010
•    Last day to drop course:      April 9, 2010
STEP 2: Log in to Angel

Visit: angel.lwtc.edu
•    Use your student ID and password
     (password is first 5 letters of last name)
•    Log in on a daily basis
      o  Participate as required
      o  Turn in assignments on time
•    Contact your instructors if you
     have questions regarding courses
STEP 3: Buy Your Textbook

•    Campus bookstore, located in East Building Mall, E127
      o  Order online: www.efollett.com
      o  Call by phone: 425-739-8108
•    Know course & section number
      o  example: ENGL, Section 1180 H21
•    Verify textbook required by syllabus
STEP 4: Know Your Support

•    For general eLearning questions, contact LWTC

  • 3. What is a "Hybrid" Course? Hybrid Equals: Less than 51% Online •  Combines face-to-face class time with Internet •  Not self-paced •  Benefits of hybrid courses o  Flexible for busy schedules o  Accessible 24-hours a day o  Interaction both on-campus & online
  • 4. What is an "Online" Course? Online Equals: 100% online •  No on-campus instruction •  Not self-paced •  Requires online attendance, participation, & study •  Benefits of online courses: o  Flexible for busy schedules o  Accessible 24-hours a day o  Diverse interaction options
  • 5. What’s the Real Difference?
  • 6. What is the "Angel" System? Angel is LWTC’s Learning Management System •  Provides access to: o  Grades o  Course material & homework o  Online communication tools
  • 7. STEP 1: Know Important Dates Spring Quarter 2010 •  Access to Angel begins: March 25, 2010 •  Online instruction begins: March 31, 2010 •  Hybrid instruction begins: April 1, 2010 •  Last day for a full refund: April 7, 2010 •  Last day to drop course: April 9, 2010
  • 8. STEP 2: Log in to Angel Visit: angel.lwtc.edu •  Use your student ID and password (password is first 5 letters of last name) •  Log in on a daily basis o  Participate as required o  Turn in assignments on time •  Contact your instructors if you have questions regarding courses
