Fishing in Estonia

At formation of the coastal people of Estonia the
Swedish and Russian immigrants in the 13th century
brought with themselves new ways and fishery
receptions. The sprat, later a sprat, the Eel and a cod
was the main food fish in the sea.
The sprat, the salted sprat became the main fish
food of countrymen to the middle of the second
millennium. Also if dried and dried fish.
In Estonian traditional fish cookery it was accepted
to cook a fish soup or the furnace of the bream in a
smoky log hut.
In Estonia about 1200 lakes, more than 7000 rivers
and streams and very extended coastline of the Baltic
Sea, and also Chudsky lake.
In reservoirs of Estonia it is possible to catch such
breeds of fishes as a tench, the bream, a carp, small
fry, a perch, a salmon and others. The most popular it
is a pike and a trout.
In the 19th century economy and equipment
development started to influence our regions more
and more. People learned to use energy of the river
in the industrial purposes and on Narov's both river
banks ralichny industrial complexes began to be
erected. Near the island Krengolm worked: Chuykin's
water-mill, cloth factory of merchant Momma, factory
of baron Shtiglits.
On the Narva reservoir fishery is highly developed
and here 27 species of fish, from which 7 types –
trade live. The bream, a pike, a burbot, жерех, язь, a
perch, small fry, and also a ruff, the rudd, a guster, a
tench and a crucian – "ordinary" representatives of
fauna of the artificial lake.
Thanks for attention!
