argument has proved to be a valuable asset. The weakest portion of my writing is my lack of good
proofreading. All papers require a significant amount of proofreading not only for grammatical

During speech class this semester, I gave several different types of speeches on several different
topics. During this semester, my ability to give speeches in front of an audience has improved quite
a bit, I hope. Going into the semester, I had a really hard time giving speeches to people, but now that

the semester was getting good information for each of my speeches. My favorite assignment was

My Experience throughout English 101
As writers, many students write to the expectations of their professors and not to their fullest
potential. Throughout English 101 I had been writing only to please my professor or to fill the basic
requirement to pass English. I always felt that my writing ability was never enough for my
professors throughout the previous years. They always wanted clear and concise essays, which for
some reason was unreachable by me. However, starting college and taking English 101 helped me
with my weaknesses and changed my technique of writing essays. My experience in English 101
taught me to write to my fullest potential and to write what I felt; rather then writing what was
required.

Another weakness that I had coming into English 101 was my way of reading. I remember
having to read an essay or book 3 or 4 times before I could ever sit down and write about it. I was
looking and at the words all wrong. However, my professor introduced a technique of reading
critically. "A critical analysis, on the other hand, takes a viewpoint and attempts to its validity;"
(Trimble, 95) In Trimble's quote he is trying say that a critical analysis helps a reader understand
what the author is really trying to point out. This was the same approach that was taught to me by
my professor. This type of analysis helped me understand better what the author was trying to
convey and it also helped me explain it better in my essays.
Additionally, another weakness that I had when coming into English 101 was that I was a selfish
writer. Like Trimble said, "His natural tendency as a writer is to think primarily of himself– hence to
write primarily for himself." (Trimble, 4) I was a writer who only cared about impressing one
type of audience my professor and not writing to prove a point or expand my knowledge to several
other audiences. However, after writing several unsatisfying essays I had come to realize that my
style of writing was too narrow and boring. In this realization of writing I discovered that what

They can learn to get some confidence because confidence is really important in order to perform
better. Being an overconfident person is also beneficial, as we won't get nervous easily and our
performances will be better. This kind of person isn't scared to take some risks as they have trust
and confidence in themselves. This kind of person has potential to be a really successful person in
the future. I have a friend that is really confident that when he performed for a speech competition at
school, he can speak fluently without any hesitation that made him the winner of the competition.
We can learn a lot from this kind of person. I learn that correct proportion of something, even the
thing we take as something bad, before, can turn into something good. We have to be able to
measure how confident we can be while with friends and when the confidence is really needed.
Being a competitive person can be advantageous, as this kind of person wants to be the best in
everything. As they want to be the best in everything, they will work and study harder than any
other people. They will try as hard as they can to be the best. As a result, they will get good marks
