My Reflection Of Art
Art has been something that I have always enjoyed. Whether it be actually creating my own
pieces or admiring pieces from local artist, it has been a passion of mine very early on in my life.
Now before taking Art 102 I never really attempted to dive in deep to the pieces I was admiring; I
never really "decoded" any of the pieces, really. Instead, I would simply snap a quick photo, add a
dark filter that really made the reds stand out, and write a witty quote. This has been my cycle when
walking into any exhibit for the past years; find the most visually appealing work of art and spend
more time on posting the piece on social media than actually interpreting what the artist was trying to
portray. Going through the semester I have learned...show more content...
Charles Graner and his team are the ones responsible for such actions and are responsible for the
photo. When Graner and his team were exposed by Joe Derby, the entire world took note and
there was not only outrage on Graner's part but on Derby as well for betraying his fellow
American military. Copper Greene not only borrows the photo but iPod billboard as well and in
a sense does a spin off creating his unique piece with his own message. The reason why we as
individuals are able to make the connection of Greene's piece to Apple's advertisement is because
the idea of signifier and signified. Where in this case the we take the signifier which is the bright
loud colors with the a dark figure used in Greene's work and we translate that to the signified;
which is apple products. In short, bright loud colors with dark figure equals apple products. Greene
also uses bricoloage to create a sense of representation as he is using his platform to highlight the
real world and those real issues. In this case, that being of American Military personal using strong
forms of interrogation. Looking at the piece closer and decoding what the white headphones truly
mean, we can conclude that those headphones not only serves as electrical wires used for torture but
too Americans use those some head phones to shut out the outside world and any real problems,
isolating themselves to their tunes and their own problems. The

Essay about Sampling
Sampling
Carrying out a survey of every single potential consumer (known as population) of a firm's product
would be impractical, time–consuming and costly. Businesses still, however, need to collect
enough primary data to have a clear idea of the views of consumers. This can be done by taking a
sample of the population. This sample group should be made up of consumers that are
representative of all potential buyers of the product. There are a number of ways in which a sample
can be chosen.
Random Sampling
This method gives each member of a group an equal chance of being chosen. In other words, the
sample is selected at random, rather like picking numbers out of a hat. Today computers can...show

So, if the business was interested in how 'class' affected consumers' demand for a food product, it
might divide the population up into different class groups, such as working class males, middle
class females etc. A random sample could then be chosen from each of these groups by making
sure that they were the same proportions of the sample in each category as in population as a
whole. So if the population had 10 per cent upper class males, so would the sample.
Quota Sampling
This sampling method involves the population being segmented into a number of groups which
share specific characteristics. These may be based on the age and the sex of the population.
Interviewers are then given targets for the number of people out of each segment who they must
interview. For example, and interviewer may be asked to interview 10 males between the ages of
18 and 25, or 15 females between the ages of 45 and 60. Once the target is reached, no more people
from that group are interviewed. The advantage of this sampling method is that it can be cheaper to
operate than many of the others. It is also useful where the proportions of the different groups within
the population are known. However, results from quota sampling are not statistically representative
of the population and are not randomly chosen. They must therefore be treated with caution.
Cluster Sampling
This involves

Morality Essay examples
Morality is defined as a system or code that we humans use to differentiate between right and wrong.
This system could be derived from a number of factors: religion, culture, and upbringing. It is
difficult enough to determine what an individual's morals are, but going further to determine how
we came to possess those morals is even more ambitious. Still, regardless of its difficulty, this subject
consumes many philosophers and psychologists. One such moral psychologists, Jonathan Haidt, is
theorizing the possibility of evolution causing ones morality. Haidt is a moral psychologist at the
Universtiy of Virgina further believes that complex social structures such as religion and politics as
well as our need for social structures affect...show more content...
One is the ancient system, a system that developed before humans could speak. This system drives
our emotions. It is with this system that humans received their instinctual reactions to specific
situations; it is these sorts of "gut reactions" that enabled human survival in ancient times. The other
is a modern system, a system that initiated when language was invented. This system, he explains,
is more associated with our ability to reason and judge. This system allows us to question our
instinctual reactions and determine some explanation as to why we feel a particular way. However,
he feels that these two complex systems are subconsciously active within the individual; he does not
believe that people are aware of these concepts affecting their morality. These two systems are the
key or answer to why moral dumbfounding occurs. It occurs when the two systems conflictВ—when
reasoning cannot explain your initial reaction. Furthermore, Haidt believes that emotions are linked
more to one's subconscious, while reasoning is linked to one's consciousness. He believes most
philosophy focuses too much on the conscious while underestimating the power of the subconscious.
In regards to his experiment testing one's disgust for eating one's pet, he believes this disgust
originated in ancient times when people first began to eat meat. When beginning this tradition,
people had to

How My Writing Has Improved
After this semester of English 102, at Bristol Community College I feel that I have gained the
skill to articulate what I want to convey to the reader in many ways. I don't just look at
grammatical error, but instead I look for ways to make my sentences more effective and concise.
Nevertheless, I hope that this strategy will continue to help me improve my writing even further
on in the future. My strong points as a reader have also definitely improved after reading the
poems and stories we experienced this semester. Writing has been an important form of
expression for me. I find myself to be very soft spoken and speaking verbally is usually difficult
for me because I can't always seem to find the right words to say. I feel that I am more expressive
and have more control over what I want to say. While this semester progressed toward its end, I
have learned new writing skills and gradually learned how to engage with audiences. This skill
was very useful in meeting my course goals in English 102. I believe that I have grown at
organization and careful stream my thoughts as well. Before I would just begin writing my papers
without any plans or organization, along with no definite idea of where I would be going with the
assignments, but throughout this course I've learned that you should base your paper around your
thesis statement. Another skill I took from this class was to value my classmate's responses, from
their reactions made me much more aware that my main ideas

Writing in a Foreign Language Essay
For a very long time, people have been studying the differences of writing among different cultures.
Native speakers write texts which are very different from the texts written by foreign language
writers. The main reason is that each culture has its patterns of thinking and it determines the way
that they write. As a result, foreign language students need to learn the patterns of the language and
the way that native speakers usually develop their ideas. If you want to make texts in a foreign
language, you need to study how people arrange their knowledge.
American writers, for example, tend to arrange their ideas in a straight line of development. In
general, we have a central idea, known as main thesis,...show more content...
In order to write in Japanese, you need to follow a circular though. First, you start with the main
idea, pointing out your thesis and introducing the ideas to the reader. After that, you get out to the
point introducing a new topic. Finally, you get to the main point to conclude. It is common in the
oriental culture, where they have a different approach of thinking of the occidental ones.
Portuguese writers tend to write a paragraph that contains digressions. They have a central idea but
sometimes it is interrupted by some ideas or examples that are far from the main idea. Similarly, a
paragraph in Russian often contains digressions. In different cultures, we have different lines of
development that are influenced by the patterns of thinking. However, none of them is better than
any other, they are only different.
According to Bander(1971,27) "Ideas don´t fit together from language to language. Each
culture has its own way of thinking." I agree with the author, each culture is influenced by its
patterns of thinking. The awareness that rhetorical patterns differ from one culture to another can
help us to write in a culture that is not native to us.
Robert B. Kaplan, an important professor of applied linguistics at the University of Southern
California, highlights that students in ESL programs write texts which are very different from texts
written by native speakers. However,

Supper At Emmaus By Caravaggio
The art under analysis is the Supper at Emmaus by Merisi Da Caravaggio. The painting is one of
the many Christian arts painted by Caravaggio during the Baroque art period. Due to the
significance of the every aspect of the painting, the paper is structured in a way that every part deals
with one aspect of the painting. The first part deals with the historical significance and the
interpretation of the painting. In the same part, the religious significance of the paintings is
explored. The second part involves the interpretation of the different techniques used by the artist
and their significance in the painting the Supper at Emmaus. The paper also gives insight into the

In the painting the supper at Emmaus, the figures are never brought into the daylight, but they are
placed in a dark brown atmosphere of the closed room. This is done by the use of a highlight that
descends over the characters' principle body parts. The rest parts of the body are lefts in the
shadow, and this gives the painting a spectacular view as the light and dark is contrasted. This is a
technique that is referred to as the tenebrism technique common in other works by Caravaggio. The
technique differs a huge way to the Renaissance art period that was in existed a century earlier that
was synonymous with the painting taking a linear or distance painting perspective. During this
period, the piece of canvas that acted

such as multitasking, problem solving/decision making, and leadership qualities. I learned that I am
a role model. It is important to develop a good relationship with students; however, I must keep in
mind that I am expected to behave myself in a professional manner at all times. I also learned some
of the important skills of a teacher such as: how to provide direct instructions, clarify content, teach

Ad Analysis Essay examples
Effects of an Ad Advertising is the marketing of an idea in ways that encourages and persuades
audiences to take some sort of action. In most cases, the action would be to buy a product or
service while other are simply to raise awareness. Whatever the case may be, money is poured into
advertising every day. Marketing agencies try various ways to convince people to buy their products
using different persuasion techniques. After first examining an advertisement, one could analyze
how each detail in the ad was specifically designed to affect its audience in a way that convinces
them that they need what is being advertised. One would also be able to notice the values and
important aspects of a culture through its advertisements. For...show more content...
Words like "help," "feel," and "faster," are used in this ad to subtly make readers believe that NyQuil
will cure Mom's illness quickly when, in fact, they really only say that the products might make her
symptoms briefly subside quicker than another indistinct method of treatment. This subtle method of
advertisement is actually very common in all types of ads. Another technique used to attract
attention of audiences is the adorable image of a mother and daughter playing dress up together.
When someone sees this image, they are expected to feel strong, loving emotion for the seemingly
deep mother–daughter connection in the photo. This mode of persuasion, pathos, is used to play on
the emotions of viewers who see this ad. By using pathos in advertising, advertisers are also showing
the main values of a culture. This NyQuil ad illustrates that one major value of American culture is
a strong family bond. The heartfelt image of a mother and daughter cheerfully playing dress up
together, the bold words, "Don't let a cold take away dress up Mommy," and the direct addressing of
"helping Mom," in the descriptions are all contributing to one major ideal. This entire ad is created
on the basis that most Americans place strong value on a deep, loving connection between mothers
and their daughters. In conclusion, various methods of advertising

Customer Service Essay examples
Companies are misguided nowadays by the notion that customers depend on them, when the truth of
the matter is that companies are dependent on those customers. Customer satisfaction and customer
loyalty is now essential for a business or company to survive. So what is the difference between
customer satisfaction and customer loyalty and how to companies and or business achieve this? Also
when you have difficult customers how do you achieve customer satisfaction?
It's essential that companies or businesses today listen to their customers. No company or business
today can afford to disregard the importance of customer satisfaction and loyalty. Aren't they the
same thing? No, they are absolutely not and they are enormously...show more content...
Customer loyalty is much harder to obtain that customer service satisfaction. The most important
first step is to satisfy the customer by meeting their expectations. Customers only give a company
one chance and if they aren't satisfied they will not do business with that company again, as well
as tell others of their experience. The next step would be to exceed the customer's expectations. If a
business goes above and beyond to assist the customer they begin to build loyalty. The next step is
to truly surprise the customer. In order to dominate the marketplace the company must find a way to
make them selves stand out with their product or service, accompanied with phenomenal customer
service. Once this has been done customer satisfaction and loyalty will be gained. "Acquiring a new
customer can cost four or five times more than keeping a current customer" (Bestmark, 2013). So it's
essential to keep the current customer's happy and coming back for more.
Some of the ways that businesses can build loyalty would be by offering loyalty programs,
Interacting with customers, surveys, creating institutional ties, and personalized marketing. Another
way to build loyalty is to treat your employees so well that they treat your customers well. If you
have happy employees they will treat your customers happy. "The link between satisfaction and
loyalty however is not proportional" (Kotler, Keller, 2009, p71), so businesses must

Essay on Lifelong Learning
Lifelong learning
Lifelong learning is the continuous building of skills and knowledge throughout the life of an
individual. The first characteristic of lifelong learning is that it encompasses both formal and
non–formal/informal types of education and training. Formal learning includes the hierarchically
structured school system that runs from primary school through the university and organized
school–like programs created in business for technical and professional training. Whereas informal
learning describes a lifelong process whereby individuals acquire attitudes, values, skills and
knowledge from daily experience and the educational influences and resources in his or her
environment, from family and neighbors, from work and play,...show more content...
The computer industry is a growing field that will never stay the same as it was when it started.
We will always need additional learning to be able to keep our jobs or move up on the corporate
ladder. We can learn about these changes by going back to school, going to workshops, or on the
job training if it is available. These opportunities are tools that will help you learn more about your
job. The skills that you learn at one job will help you advance in that position or get you another
position with that company or another company. For example,
If you we are tired of being at that same died end job make that change and go back to school to get
that additional education to pursue your dream that you have. Working a job and having a career
are two different things. After spend some years in the work force I decided to further my
education. I wanted a career that I can advance in and learn more.
The process of designing a lifelong learning plan begins with putting it in writing. This plan,
sometimes called a learning contract, must be a dynamic process intended to provide structure in an
unstructured environment – known as everyday life.
Lifelong learning exists within this world, allowing learners the freedom to enroll in formal
continuing education programs or self–directed learning such as learning how to garden or play an
instrument, as examples. A personal learning plan or learning contract should focus on the following

The Final Overview Essay When I began college last fall, I had been terrified of writing. I had
been out of school for almost twenty years and had not engaged in any writing activities since
that time. I had a minor melt down after reading the discussion posts of my fellow students in one
of my classes, because their writing had seemed so advanced in comparison to my own. I told the
professor that I did not know if I would be capable of completing the writing assignments for the
course. This professor had said that I had wonderful insights due to my life experience and that I
would be fine if I remembered to approach the assignments with the mindset of writing quality
over quantity. I had to do research on how to properly write essays and use the assistance my
facilitators to proofread my work, but I eventually began to progress as a writer. Starting out this
semester I had been just as apprehensive, not knowing what to expect from an actual English course
based upon writing. I had only hoped that I progressed enough with my writing ability that I would
not struggle with the course. My goal at the beginning of the semester had been to complete a

Art Analysis Essay
Though most works of art have some underlying, deeper meaning attached to them, our first
impression of their significance comes through our initial visual interpretation. When we first view a
painting or a statue or other piece of art, we notice first the visual details – its size, its medium, its
color, and its condition, for example – before we begin to ponder its greater significance. Indeed,
these visual clues are just as important as any other interpretation or meaning of a work, for they
allow us to understand just what that deeper meaning is. The expression on a statue's face tells us
the emotion and message that the artist is trying to convey. Its color, too, can provide clues: darker
or lighter colors can play a role in how we...show more content...
The Stele depicts a simple scene: a seated man and standing woman behind him stare blankly
straight ahead. A woman standing on the left looks down upon them. All of them are ordinary
humans. They are not gods or goddesses. They are private people. Their clothing is plain,
consisting of simple robes. It is representational of a regular family mourning the loss of one of its
members, a scene that most people, even today, are able to relate to hundreds or even thousands of
years later.
The stele conveys a solemn forlornness that can be seen in the figures' faces. Their mouths are
tightly shut; their eyes gaze blankly ahead. The woman on the left stares ahead with little emotion
on her face. The stele does not depict any motion. All of the figures are standing (or sitting) still, in
quiet memorial. This solemnity adds to the emotion of a grave where the stele once stood. There is
no real clear answer as to who is being mourned. Are the seated man and the woman mourning the
loss of their daughter, on the left? Or is the woman on the left mourning the loss of a father? The
sculpture's ambiguity also adds to the emotion that it evokes. It might even be appropriate for its
purpose. Its function was to mark a gravesite – the site of the body of someone who has died. Death
is one of the most complex parts of life. It is the most ambiguous, for nobody knows for sure what
happens in death. The ambiguity of the stele highlights

The biggest learning experience to me so far is life itself. I feel that way because there is so much to

Introduction to Psychology Essay examples
Introduction to Psychology The concern about life is a main human characteristic. No matter if his
concern is concentrated in himself or in persons or things that surround him and constitute his
environment, everybody wants to know why people, himself included, behave the way they
behave. Everybody, also, wants to improve his behavior, so as to live in harmony with himself and
the society. The Greek word Psychology, is a word consisted of the words
ψυχή–soul and λόγος–utterance, talk. So,
generally, psychology is the science that examines the soul. But , since the psychologists work on

The heartbeats, the movements of our head are behavior. The way we eat, the way we drink, the
way we walk, we talk, are behavior. The construction of a bridge, the composition of a song are
behavior. The fantasies of a child, the dreams of a adolescent, the illusions of an alcoholic are
behavior. Although we are all familiar with human behavior, a little do we understand or we can
explain about it. Since our infancy we learn about behavior through the experiences and the
knowledge that we get by observing other people or having relations with them. Living in society
leads us to watch and try to explain the way people behave. But that is not always easy. Sometimes
we cannot understand even ourselves. Psychology comes to give answers to all this uncertainty.
Therefore, according to modern psychology, the term behavior means all the conscious,
unconscious, verbal, mental and kinetic expressions of ourselves. Psychology uses statistic
researches so as to distinguish the normal behavior from the abnormal one. Such a thing is very
difficult because every society has its own behavior standards, and, consequently, an act that is
normal according to one society, may be abnormal according to another. For example, polygamy is
not permitted in Europe, but it is permitted in certain societies in Africa. So, the judgement of a
behavior must bear in mind the social environment in which it takes place .

Examples Of Autoethnography
The second part of my autoethnography consists of two of the biggest events in my life that

My grandmother, who is the mother of my mom, passed away due to heart failure at the age of
87. Since I was 6 or 7 she had been living in our house. The reason for that was, my grandfather,
that I was named after passed away a year before I was born, so she was alone, and she was
starting to get old. Since she lived with us for so many years, she had been a very important
figure in my life. I can honestly say that she was like a 3rd parent for me, and losing her, made me
fell horrible and helpless. I witnessed how real death is because of her passing. Combined with
puberty, my grief caused me to become depressed for a long time. As I'm looking back it sounds
really extreme, but there were some days that I did not even leave the bed thinking that there was no
point to our existence. Thanks to some psychological counselling however, I was able to overcome

  • 1. My Reflection Of Art Art has been something that I have always enjoyed. Whether it be actually creating my own pieces or admiring pieces from local artist, it has been a passion of mine very early on in my life. Now before taking Art 102 I never really attempted to dive in deep to the pieces I was admiring; I never really "decoded" any of the pieces, really. Instead, I would simply snap a quick photo, add a dark filter that really made the reds stand out, and write a witty quote. This has been my cycle when walking into any exhibit for the past years; find the most visually appealing work of art and spend more time on posting the piece on social media than actually interpreting what the artist was trying to portray. Going through the semester I have learned...show more content... Charles Graner and his team are the ones responsible for such actions and are responsible for the photo. When Graner and his team were exposed by Joe Derby, the entire world took note and there was not only outrage on Graner's part but on Derby as well for betraying his fellow American military. Copper Greene not only borrows the photo but iPod billboard as well and in a sense does a spin off creating his unique piece with his own message. The reason why we as individuals are able to make the connection of Greene's piece to Apple's advertisement is because the idea of signifier and signified. Where in this case the we take the signifier which is the bright loud colors with the a dark figure used in Greene's work and we translate that to the signified; which is apple products. In short, bright loud colors with dark figure equals apple products. Greene also uses bricoloage to create a sense of representation as he is using his platform to highlight the real world and those real issues. In this case, that being of American Military personal using strong forms of interrogation. Looking at the piece closer and decoding what the white headphones truly mean, we can conclude that those headphones not only serves as electrical wires used for torture but too Americans use those some head phones to shut out the outside world and any real problems, isolating themselves to their tunes and their own problems. • 2. Essay about Sampling Sampling Carrying out a survey of every single potential consumer (known as population) of a firm's product would be impractical, time–consuming and costly. Businesses still, however, need to collect enough primary data to have a clear idea of the views of consumers. This can be done by taking a sample of the population. This sample group should be made up of consumers that are representative of all potential buyers of the product. There are a number of ways in which a sample can be chosen. Random Sampling This method gives each member of a group an equal chance of being chosen. In other words, the sample is selected at random, rather like picking numbers out of a hat. Today computers can...show more content... So, if the business was interested in how 'class' affected consumers' demand for a food product, it might divide the population up into different class groups, such as working class males, middle class females etc. A random sample could then be chosen from each of these groups by making sure that they were the same proportions of the sample in each category as in population as a whole. So if the population had 10 per cent upper class males, so would the sample. Quota Sampling This sampling method involves the population being segmented into a number of groups which share specific characteristics. These may be based on the age and the sex of the population. Interviewers are then given targets for the number of people out of each segment who they must interview. For example, and interviewer may be asked to interview 10 males between the ages of 18 and 25, or 15 females between the ages of 45 and 60. Once the target is reached, no more people from that group are interviewed. The advantage of this sampling method is that it can be cheaper to operate than many of the others. It is also useful where the proportions of the different groups within the population are known. However, results from quota sampling are not statistically representative of the population and are not randomly chosen. They must therefore be treated with caution. Cluster Sampling This involves Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Morality Essay examples Morality is defined as a system or code that we humans use to differentiate between right and wrong. This system could be derived from a number of factors: religion, culture, and upbringing. It is difficult enough to determine what an individual's morals are, but going further to determine how we came to possess those morals is even more ambitious. Still, regardless of its difficulty, this subject consumes many philosophers and psychologists. One such moral psychologists, Jonathan Haidt, is theorizing the possibility of evolution causing ones morality. Haidt is a moral psychologist at the Universtiy of Virgina further believes that complex social structures such as religion and politics as well as our need for social structures affect...show more content... One is the ancient system, a system that developed before humans could speak. This system drives our emotions. It is with this system that humans received their instinctual reactions to specific situations; it is these sorts of "gut reactions" that enabled human survival in ancient times. The other is a modern system, a system that initiated when language was invented. This system, he explains, is more associated with our ability to reason and judge. This system allows us to question our instinctual reactions and determine some explanation as to why we feel a particular way. However, he feels that these two complex systems are subconsciously active within the individual; he does not believe that people are aware of these concepts affecting their morality. These two systems are the key or answer to why moral dumbfounding occurs. It occurs when the two systems conflictВ—when reasoning cannot explain your initial reaction. Furthermore, Haidt believes that emotions are linked more to one's subconscious, while reasoning is linked to one's consciousness. He believes most philosophy focuses too much on the conscious while underestimating the power of the subconscious. In regards to his experiment testing one's disgust for eating one's pet, he believes this disgust originated in ancient times when people first began to eat meat. When beginning this tradition, people had to Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. How My Writing Has Improved After this semester of English 102, at Bristol Community College I feel that I have gained the skill to articulate what I want to convey to the reader in many ways. I don't just look at grammatical error, but instead I look for ways to make my sentences more effective and concise. Nevertheless, I hope that this strategy will continue to help me improve my writing even further on in the future. My strong points as a reader have also definitely improved after reading the poems and stories we experienced this semester. Writing has been an important form of expression for me. I find myself to be very soft spoken and speaking verbally is usually difficult for me because I can't always seem to find the right words to say. I feel that I am more expressive and have more control over what I want to say. While this semester progressed toward its end, I have learned new writing skills and gradually learned how to engage with audiences. This skill was very useful in meeting my course goals in English 102. I believe that I have grown at organization and careful stream my thoughts as well. Before I would just begin writing my papers without any plans or organization, along with no definite idea of where I would be going with the assignments, but throughout this course I've learned that you should base your paper around your thesis statement. Another skill I took from this class was to value my classmate's responses, from their reactions made me much more aware that my main ideas Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Writing in a Foreign Language Essay For a very long time, people have been studying the differences of writing among different cultures. Native speakers write texts which are very different from the texts written by foreign language writers. The main reason is that each culture has its patterns of thinking and it determines the way that they write. As a result, foreign language students need to learn the patterns of the language and the way that native speakers usually develop their ideas. If you want to make texts in a foreign language, you need to study how people arrange their knowledge. American writers, for example, tend to arrange their ideas in a straight line of development. In general, we have a central idea, known as main thesis,...show more content... In order to write in Japanese, you need to follow a circular though. First, you start with the main idea, pointing out your thesis and introducing the ideas to the reader. After that, you get out to the point introducing a new topic. Finally, you get to the main point to conclude. It is common in the oriental culture, where they have a different approach of thinking of the occidental ones. Portuguese writers tend to write a paragraph that contains digressions. They have a central idea but sometimes it is interrupted by some ideas or examples that are far from the main idea. Similarly, a paragraph in Russian often contains digressions. In different cultures, we have different lines of development that are influenced by the patterns of thinking. However, none of them is better than any other, they are only different. According to Bander(1971,27) "Ideas don´t fit together from language to language. Each culture has its own way of thinking." I agree with the author, each culture is influenced by its patterns of thinking. The awareness that rhetorical patterns differ from one culture to another can help us to write in a culture that is not native to us. Robert B. Kaplan, an important professor of applied linguistics at the University of Southern California, highlights that students in ESL programs write texts which are very different from texts written by native speakers. The painting is one of the many Christian arts painted by Caravaggio during the Baroque art period. Due to the significance of the every aspect of the painting, the paper is structured in a way that every part deals with one aspect of the painting. The first part deals with the historical significance and the interpretation of the painting. In the same part, the religious significance of the paintings is explored. This is a technique that is referred to as the tenebrism technique common in other works by Caravaggio. In most cases, the action would be to buy a product or service while other are simply to raise awareness. Whatever the case may be, money is poured into advertising every day. Marketing agencies try various ways to convince people to buy their products using different persuasion techniques. After first examining an advertisement, one could analyze how each detail in the ad was specifically designed to affect its audience in a way that convinces them that they need what is being advertised. Words like "help," "feel," and "faster," are used in this ad to subtly make readers believe that NyQuil will cure Mom's illness quickly when, in fact, they really only say that the products might make her symptoms briefly subside quicker than another indistinct method of treatment. This subtle method of advertisement is actually very common in all types of ads. Another technique used to attract attention of audiences is the adorable image of a mother and daughter playing dress up together. When someone sees this image, they are expected to feel strong, loving emotion for the seemingly deep mother–daughter connection in the photo. This mode of persuasion, pathos, is used to play on the emotions of viewers who see this ad. By using pathos in advertising, advertisers are also showing the main values of a culture. This NyQuil ad illustrates that one major value of American culture is a strong family bond. The heartfelt image of a mother and daughter cheerfully playing dress up together, the bold words, "Don't let a cold take away dress up Mommy," and the direct addressing of "helping Mom," in the descriptions are all contributing to one major ideal. This entire ad is created on the basis that most Americans place strong value on a deep, loving connection between mothers and their daughters. In conclusion, various methods of advertising Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Customer satisfaction and customer loyalty is now essential for a business or company to survive. So what is the difference between customer satisfaction and customer loyalty and how to companies and or business achieve this? Also when you have difficult customers how do you achieve customer satisfaction? It's essential that companies or businesses today listen to their customers. No company or business today can afford to disregard the importance of customer satisfaction and loyalty. Aren't they the same thing? No, they are absolutely not and they are enormously...show more content... Customer loyalty is much harder to obtain that customer service satisfaction. The most important first step is to satisfy the customer by meeting their expectations. Customers only give a company one chance and if they aren't satisfied they will not do business with that company again, as well as tell others of their experience. The next step would be to exceed the customer's expectations. If a business goes above and beyond to assist the customer they begin to build loyalty. The next step is to truly surprise the customer. In order to dominate the marketplace the company must find a way to make them selves stand out with their product or service, accompanied with phenomenal customer service. Once this has been done customer satisfaction and loyalty will be gained. "Acquiring a new customer can cost four or five times more than keeping a current customer" (Bestmark, 2013). So it's essential to keep the current customer's happy and coming back for more. Some of the ways that businesses can build loyalty would be by offering loyalty programs, Interacting with customers, surveys, creating institutional ties, and personalized marketing. Another way to build loyalty is to treat your employees so well that they treat your customers well. If you have happy employees they will treat your customers happy. (TOPIC SENTENCE FOR EXAMPLE 3) Rather than accept his failure after being laid off, Johnson decided to study it. After a month of research, Johnson realized that his failure to find a new job resulted primarily from the inefficiency of the local job placement agencies, not from his own deficiencies. A month later, Johnson created Johnson Staffing to correct this weakness in the job placement sector. Today Johnson Staffing is the largest job placement agency in South Carolina, and is in the process of expanding into a national corporation. But as the examples of the U.S. Constitution , Google, and Rod Johnson prove, if an individual, organization, or even a nation is strong enough to face and study its failure, then that failure can become a powerful teacher. • 11. Essay on Lifelong Learning Lifelong learning Lifelong learning is the continuous building of skills and knowledge throughout the life of an individual. The first characteristic of lifelong learning is that it encompasses both formal and non–formal/informal types of education and training. Formal learning includes the hierarchically structured school system that runs from primary school through the university and organized school–like programs created in business for technical and professional training. Whereas informal learning describes a lifelong process whereby individuals acquire attitudes, values, skills and knowledge from daily experience and the educational influences and resources in his or her environment, from family and neighbors, from work and play,...show more content... • 12. Examples Of An Overview Essay The Final Overview Essay When I began college last fall, I had been terrified of writing. I had been out of school for almost twenty years and had not engaged in any writing activities since that time. I had a minor melt down after reading the discussion posts of my fellow students in one of my classes, because their writing had seemed so advanced in comparison to my own. I told the professor that I did not know if I would be capable of completing the writing assignments for the course. This professor had said that I had wonderful insights due to my life experience and that I would be fine if I remembered to approach the assignments with the mindset of writing quality over quantity. I had to do research on how to properly write essays and use the assistance my facilitators to proofread my work, but I eventually began to progress as a writer. Starting out this semester I had been just as apprehensive, not knowing what to expect from an actual English course based upon writing. I had only hoped that I progressed enough with my writing ability that I would not struggle with the course. • 13. Art Analysis Essay Though most works of art have some underlying, deeper meaning attached to them, our first impression of their significance comes through our initial visual interpretation. When we first view a painting or a statue or other piece of art, we notice first the visual details – its size, its medium, its color, and its condition, for example – before we begin to ponder its greater significance. Indeed, these visual clues are just as important as any other interpretation or meaning of a work, for they allow us to understand just what that deeper meaning is. The expression on a statue's face tells us the emotion and message that the artist is trying to convey. Its color, too, can provide clues: darker or lighter colors can play a role in how we...show more content... The Stele depicts a simple scene: a seated man and standing woman behind him stare blankly straight ahead. A woman standing on the left looks down upon them. All of them are ordinary humans. They are not gods or goddesses. They are private people. Their clothing is plain, consisting of simple robes. It is representational of a regular family mourning the loss of one of its members, a scene that most people, even today, are able to relate to hundreds or even thousands of years later. The stele conveys a solemn forlornness that can be seen in the figures' faces. Their mouths are tightly shut; their eyes gaze blankly ahead. The woman on the left stares ahead with little emotion on her face. The stele does not depict any motion. All of the figures are standing (or sitting) still, in quiet memorial. This solemnity adds to the emotion of a grave where the stele once stood. There is no real clear answer as to who is being mourned. Are the seated man and the woman mourning the loss of their daughter, on the left? Or is the woman on the left mourning the loss of a father? The sculpture's ambiguity also adds to the emotion that it evokes. It might even be appropriate for its purpose. Its function was to mark a gravesite – the site of the body of someone who has died. Death is one of the most complex parts of life. It is the most ambiguous, for nobody knows for sure what happens in death. The ambiguity of the stele highlights Get more content on HelpWriting.net

The fantasies of a child, the dreams of a adolescent, the illusions of an alcoholic are behavior. Although we are all familiar with human behavior, a little do we understand or we can explain about it. Since our infancy we learn about behavior through the experiences and the knowledge that we get by observing other people or having relations with them. Living in society leads us to watch and try to explain the way people behave. But that is not always easy. Sometimes we cannot understand even ourselves. Psychology comes to give answers to all this uncertainty. Therefore, according to modern psychology, the term behavior means all the conscious, unconscious, verbal, mental and kinetic expressions of ourselves. Psychology uses statistic researches so as to distinguish the normal behavior from the abnormal one. Such a thing is very difficult because every society has its own behavior standards, and, consequently, an act that is normal according to one society, may be abnormal according to another. For example, polygamy is not permitted in Europe, but it is permitted in certain societies in Africa. So, the judgement of a behavior must bear in mind the social environment in which it takes place . Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Just because it is not illegal does not mean that it should be done. I feel that Mr. Cohen's analysis is not correct. If a company had an extremely innovative and sought after product due to its wide range of uses and quality, the company would not need to stoop to such discriminatory hiring practices. The product would simply sell itself. After all, every company would love to get by without spending one dime on advertising. Imagine a world where everyone was hired based on merit. Productivity would increase everywhere because people would be doing what they are best at instead of just standing around and "looking great." Commentary This essay illustrates the EPT Scoring Guide's criteria for a score of 6. The superior response indicates that the writer is very well–prepared to handle college–level reading and writing. The writer understands and focuses clearly on the topic raised by the quotation in the thesis, "... only hiring certain people that 'look great,' is definitely discrimination and should not occur."
