1. What have you learnt about technologies
from the process of constructing this
product?
Question 6
2. I have used a large variety of different technologies while
developing and producing my product. Microsoft PowerPoint is
used regularly throughout my Pre production research into the
Media Market. This software helped complete My textual analysis
and Market research document that was important in showcasing
magazines I had studied and learnt about and gained information
on the distributing companies such as Bauer Media. Other times I
have used PowerPoint include, analysis of survey results, textual
analysis, Magazine Pitch and Evaluation questions. This
programme is something I have used before and would chose to
use as a prepared software to present my work with. I was
therefore able to make a presentation that was clearly
informative, colourful and creative as required to denote an
interesting piece of Work. I knew most of the devices associated
with PowerPoint making it more suitable to use. For my Pitch and
magazine research for example the slideshow style meant the
work could carry a story line approach and page by page explain,
discuss, analysis, research the relevant things to its subject.
I briefly used well recognised Computer programme Microsoft
word as an alternative technology to PowerPoint which has been
used a lot for similar principles. I felt comfortable using this
technology Because I have had lots of experience with this before
like PowerPoint and other Microsoft programmes. I was able to
do a quick list noting down my questions for interviews in my
blog and get it uploaded fast. The hardware is fast and simple to
use and requires little knowledge to connect with the principles of
this technology.
3. The method of publishing to My blog Word press I have not used
before Was a system called Slideshare. I had to adapt to being
able to function the hardware accordingly and produce a series of
Working links to the relevant programme on the Blog which the
General public can now access. Slideshare was not too difficult to
use in the end and required some simple steps to getting done
what I needed to invest my time into. Being able to use this
allowed myself to make slideshare accessible on my blog as a
alternative set of pages embedded into the post. This was very
useful as it made the Blog more interesting, interactive and the
work overall looked to a better quality.
Alternatively Another technology I used in my Products production
scheme was Survey Monkey. This was a programme I had not
heard of before and therefore was very unfamiliar or the
requirements or controls to successfully use this site. At first I
found it very hard to understand its tools and icons in creating a
Survey and took a considerable amount of time to use properly. I
feel once I could use this site it Made me Think about what
questions I needed answering to aid the production of my
Magazine, helped me to develop a good questionnaire for the
generally public and Learning This gave me more skills in the
Computing department such as coding, design principles and
additional buttons on the Keyboard.
In a similar process when learning about the programmes above I
had to swiftly convert Files of PDF, fireworks etc orientation into
JPEGs. JPEG’s are required to turn a files into a image that can
be viewed by the public and examiner as a picture on the screen.
Learning this was a step by step process and I can now do this in
the future with ease if required, providing me with a life time skill.
4. The actual Media products being Front cover, contents, preliminary
front cover, were made on Adobe Photoshop. I have been able to use
this programme in the past but at a lower level to what is needed for
my product now. Photoshop allowed me to learn how to apply
gradients, the cutting out of Images, layering a range of objects and
fonts on the page, use crazy and wacky fonts I have adapted and edit
Photographs properties such as contrast, brightness etc. I feel I am not
an advanced user in this system and enjoyed learning how to use this
technology throughout all my designs. I began to create more pages
with creativity and passion thanks to learning the use of this hardware.
The same applies for the programme Indesign however I had not used
this before previously and was alien to me. It took a bit longer to
understand how to use but the principles were largely the same an
gave a more professional look on the products I created no this
programme. It required more experimentation but provided a realistic
and professional look on the pages I completed with this. These Were
my preliminary contents and Double page spread of Mosh magazine.
However the Programme that was vitally important over others Was
the site on Which is chose to present my Media coursework Blog on,
This was Ultimately WordPress. Wordpress was a well known and
recommended Blogging site that required the creation of an account to
access its tool box. I had never used this before so it was interesting
fro me in learning how the system works, its qualities and Harder
aspects of management. I was able to Edit my Blogs, fonts, colour
scheme, text, pictures and whole outlook to help it suit me and my
coursework's standards. At first using this was a challenge but
understanding how to make individual blog posts and issue them aided
my aim to create a organised systematic collection of Blog posts to
reveal my Coursework story. I think this experience has given me lots
of new skills I have covered and I feel if given the task again, I could
successfully build on the qualities I have learnt to produce another
Magazine. Or whatever concept in media I would be required.
