The Computer Science teacher at the beginning of
the academic year plans the entire course for the year in
consultation with the other science teachers handling the
same subject for the same standard. The curricular and co-
curricular activities like Science Club, IT Club, debates, quiz
and field trip for the entire year are planned.
Year Planning
•The number of units in the syllabus
•The number of periods allotted for each of the units
•The number of computer science periods per week
•The number of working days per term and year
•The number of days for government holidays, study
holidays, revision and examinations
It is a planning for the year, a year’s work. It
includes distribution of work/ lessons in a given
manner throughout the year. It is a systematic
calendar of lesson plans, holidays and extra
activities like sports day, annual day, science
exhibitions and fairs.
If the available no. of periods are properly
allocated to the units of a subject, in accordance
with the requirements, the arrangement is known
as Year Planning.
Year plan is a systematic procedure for finding out
the extent to which the pupils have realized the
objectives and specifications.
Year plan is a systematic procedure for finding out
the extent to which the pupils have realized the
objectives and specifications.
Factors considered while planning
•The units to be taught in the subject
•The objectives to be realized through
the various units
•Time available for teaching
•Time required for testing
•Maximum utilization of available resources and time
•It gives guideline to the teacher to plan unit and lesson
plan and distribute the time available for each lesson.
•Extra activities and new experiences can be added
•It makes teacher confident and self reliant
•It saves time. It encourages continuity in teaching
It helps teacher to go in a systematic and orderly manner
•It helps teacher to inculcate certain aims with the help of certain
activities throughout the year
•Year planning makes the work regular, well organized and systematic
•It enhances the self confidence of the teacher
•It facilitates appropriate use of aids at appropriate places
•Year planning establishes proper correlation between different lessons
•The student’s interest can be retained
