4. • Roles / Responsibilities :
o Work Closely with Board of Trustees
o Consists of 1 x Board Member & 1 x Senior Leadership Team Member;
Parent Group Representatives who volunteer from Principal/BoT request for
assistance
o Board Policy on Fundraising & Sponsorship to provide the Framework under
which the Steering Team has Developed Procedures to Guide Fundraising
Initiatives at WMS
o Ensure an Overview of all Fundraising Events Occurring within WMS
o Establish & Maintain a System of Support (Database / Files / Records)

o All Fundraising Ideas are Initially presented to the Steering Team
o Ensure Fundraising Plans & Procedures are Drafted and Issued Advising all
Fundraisers the Parameters of Operation and Guidance on Seeking
Sponsorship
o Ensure all Events/Initiatives are Tracked in School Accounts
o Develop Regular Communication Avenues to Parents & Community through
Website & Newsletter
o Work with School Leadership Team & Parentnet to Set Up Yearly

6. Westmere Parentnet
Parentnet is a Crucial part of our School :
The Key Role of this Group :
•To promote and support a positive relationship between home and school
•Welcome new parents to the Class Community
•Assist in Building a Social Network of Care & Support through Community
based Fundraising and Social Events
•Parentnet Rep(s) Liaises with the Teacher to keep Parents of the Class
Informed of ways they can support the Class Programme
•Manage 2 – 3 Social Events per year – Promoting “A Class Community” e.g.,
Fish & Chip Nights, Twilight Picnics
•Co-ordinate 5 – 6 small Fundraising Events per Year to Raise $20 – 30,000 to
support goals on the Schools Strategic Plan / Annual Development Plan e.g.,
Disco, Calendars - Athons

Parentnet - November 2010 :
Proposal :
•To bring Parentnet back under the auspices of the School (No longer have a
Separate Constitution and Bank Account)
•To Strengthen the Links and Communication between the Parent Body and the
School
How ? :
•At each Parentnet meeting (1 x Term) an Agenda item will be a report from the
Board/School on current progress towards meeting Strategic/Annual Goals
(summary of key work undertaken by Board/School in recent months)
•Parentnet Reps may request the School/Board Reps to provide feedback on
any item of interest they would like further updates on (1 weeks notice via
email)
•A Weekly email notice will continue to be circulated every Thursday with
Events/Notices of Immediate Interest to Parent Community e.g., Requests for
Help / Reminders of Key Dates & Upcoming Events

Parentnet - November 2010 :
How Cont.. :
•The “Board Shorts” (Newsletter) will be emailed to families and posted on
School Website (Once a Term Minimum) and the School Newsletter every
Fortnight.
•School Website will become the main conduit of Information sharing between
Home and School.
•The Principal to use her Professional Blog (linked to the School Website) to
provide Information on topics of Interest to the Community (Educationally
Related e.g., composite Classes, Key Competencies, E-Learning at WMS)
•Parentnet will be more actively used by the Board & School Leadership Team,
to obtain Feedback and Input on New Initiatives by Providing a
– “Taster” on Community Response to a Particular Topic / Event or
Initiative
•Further Consultation Processes / Information Sharing can then be Developed
from the Initial “Taster,” to get Feedback from the Wider Parent Community
