Empathize and Define_ Student not paying attention in class

  • 1. 1. Students not paying attention in the class (Sleep and Chatting) 2. Not enough time if teach according syllabus for science subject (5 classes/week & 35 min/class) 1. School meeting ( 1 time/2 week), already highlight sleep problem. 2. There is reasearch action incharge by teacher to solve sleep problem. a) 1st warning, then class detention, then meeting with parents a) weak academic students - sleep in class problem 3.Teaching method: (Book, Projector inlab, multimedia room, visualizer, OHP, laptop with CD) Lecture too long? spoon feed education teachnig content not attractive? teachnig method effective? How to encourage students ask questions? responsible, task-oriented,caring Degree in Science Diploma in Science How to help students that weak in academic? Creativity, efficiency, quality of teaching? It is good to do more practical rather than only theories Peggy need to enhance teaching creativity & efficiency within 35 min 5. School start time: 7:25am, break time: 10:25-10:50am 4. Canteen food: High Carb, less fruits & veggie Picturized teaching content Divide students into group More Q&A session 5 yrs experiences secondary school 1.Space arrangement of classroom Now: 2 psn-3psn per table 2. Picturized the teaching content teach using object that they know 3. reduce lecture time, increase Q&A section 4. Divide class into small groups, then appoint 1 team leader Encourage student to think & use what they learn Understand the knowledge & skills useful to create better life 5. Any problem with breaktime? students usually feel sleeping after break time
