This story is about a statue called the Happy Prince who helps the poor with the help of a swallow. The Prince used to live a carefree life in a palace but is now placed high on a column where he can see all the ugliness and misery of the city, causing him to weep despite having a heart of lead. A swallow decides to take shelter between the Prince's feet for the night but is surprised to find it raining with clear stars. The Prince explains his backstory and asks the swallow to help the poor by taking away his jeweled eyes and gold leaf to distribute. The swallow agrees and they work together to help those in need before the swallow dies of exhaustion as winter comes.

Game: divide into two teams. Team A times one minute and listens while one
member of Team B takes a paper from the box, defines the word written on it
(without translating or using any of its component parts) for his or her team to guess.
Team B guesses each word and keeps the papers for correct guesses, going as
quickly as possible until time is up. After one minute, it is Team A’s turn to guess and
Team B’s turn to time. Unguessed papers go back in the box. Keep alternating until
no papers remain. The winning team has the most papers.
