3. A. Explain the meaning of
Freedom and responsibility.
B. Show situations that
demonstrate freedom of
choice and the consequences
of their choices.
C. Exercise prudence in choices.
4. Direction: Write down in the piece of
paper a list of things you would do if you
were granted an absolute freedom for one
day. You can write as many as you can.
Absolute freedom means no form of
hindrances or impediment would prevent
you from doing what you want.
Then, share it to your seatmate. You don’t
need to share everything that is on the list.
Share only those that you feel comfortable
disclosing.
5. 1.Should freedom be absolute?
2.If freedom should be limited, what
would be its limits?
3.Who should determine the limits
of freedom? An authoritarian
leader? Our individual selves? The
great majority?
To have a better understanding
about freedom, let us tackle it this
morning
6.
7.
8. It is an intrinsic and essential property of
the person. This means that the human
person by nature is free being and that it
is in his/her nature to seek freedom. The
essence of our freedom is the ability to
make choices and perform actions. Our
freedom to act sets us apart from other
beings.
According to Isaiah Berlin, it is very
important to determine the distinction
between positive and negative freedom.
9. refers to the absence of interference.
Interference means something that is
intentionally imposed on a person. It may
come in the form of a physical coercion
such as kidnapping or imprisonment, or
verbal coercion such as the issuing of
threats to another person. One is free, in
the negative sense, when she does not
experience either forms of coercion (
pressure).
10. is not just about the absence of coercion or
interference. It is more than just being let
alone by other. This kind of freedom requires
active effort on the person who is said to be
free. Here we refer to the inner struggles of a
person who is pulled in opposing directions
of his own conflicting desires, want and
needs.
It is understood to be the power to create
and define ourselves. It is rooted in the
person’s self-determination and the exercise
of intellect and free well. Here the person has
the control in exercising his/her freedom.
11. I want to attend the barrio fiesta and yet it
is examination time so I need to study for
the exams. This kind of freedom it entails
about responsibility and obligation.
12. Mechanics:
Divide the class into 4 groups then form a
circle then pass the pillow. While doing
so, do whatever you wanted to do with the
pillow before passing. Example. Hug,
crush, kiss and punch. After one round,
let us do it again but this time we will do
the other way around. Still you can do
whatever you want to do with the object
but that will be the same action you are
going to do to the person right next to
you.
13. 1. Was there a significant change in the
actions done on the first round of passing
the object around with the second round
actions?
2. Why do you think was the first different
from the second?
14. 1. Which between the two action ( the first
(A) and the second (B)) would you
consider as an example of the exercise of
freedom?
2. Which between the two actions would you
consider as an example the exercise of
responsibility?
3. Which between the two actions would you
consider as an example of an action that
realizes the meaning of being human?
15.
16. No, for in every freedom there is always
responsibility. We can do what we want but
don’t forget our responsibility.
Responsibility – if we look into this word, it
has two words that combine, respond and
ability- meaning ability to respond ( to a
need or call for help, for understanding, for
love, for forgiveness) in any situation.
Therefore we are accountable in every
action we made especially when we
exercise our freedom.
17. Human freedom should be exercise with
control and a recognition of reasonable
limits. Freedom is experience through the
act of making choices. It is therefore
important for person to exercise caution
and prudence and reflect on possible
courses of action in making decision or
doing action.
We set limits to our own freedom and
learn to moderate or control our thoughts,
emotions, anger, and action depending on
the situation you may have. Limiting our
human freedom requires a self- sacrifice
of our interest and accept reality that is
beyond our control.
18. Freedom should be exercised in a
responsible manner. Individual
being must exercise control over
their and recognize reasonable
limits to their freedom.
It should be practice with regards
for knowledge and truth,
therefore think before you act.
19. Activity 3. Role Play
Show situations that demonstrate freedom
of choice and the consequences of the
choices.
Each group will be given 5 minutes to
prepare and 3 minutes presentation.
20. In ½ crosswise write a reflect on your past
experience and identify a moment when
you believed you had no choice regarding
on your actions or directions, or you made
a choice that you eventually regretted. Re-
evaluate that situation using the various
views on human freedom.
