2. What genres of film do you enjoy watching and
why?
• Action – I enjoy action films mainly because of
the thrill and excitement you get from them.
There is a rush of adrenalin that pumps through
you due to the sheer action taking place. Most
action movies are unique to the idea that
they're not your everyday, ordinary
circumstances, and it is that which makes them
all the more intriguing to watch and follow.
• Drama – I enjoy drama films because of the
mystery behind them. I like the way that a lot of
drama films use the unknown as a feature to
attract their audiences, getting them to solve
and understand what is going on.
• Comedy – I enjoy comedies solely because they
can make everyday situations as funny as they
like, making the films relatable.
GENRE
3. Sub genres of Drama
• Crime-drama
• Historical-drama
• Horror-drama
• Romantic-drama
• Melodrama
• Comedy-drama
• Psychodrama
• Docudrama
DRAMA
Why people like dramas?
Because we are emotional
beings, and everything we
do is backed up by some
kind of feeling. Emotion is
the fuel to our engines.
And drama completes the
yearn for emotions.
People like dramas
because they are relatable
and compatible with
peoples everyday lives
which makes them more
understandable and thus
having bigger affects on
their audiences.
4. Source of Inspiration:
• Momentos (short film) – Within this
short film, a series of pasts videos of
memories are presented, this gave me
the idea of merely having my entire film
a sequence of moving images that will
pose as the memories that a young girl
has of her brother who has passed.
INSPIRATION/
INFLUENCES
5. • ‘Tommy’ is the lead protagonist who is in
every shot within the short film, he has
two sisters, one of which is the
deuteragonist of the film who is writing
letters to her brother (Tommy) who has
passed.
• Tommy passed away at the age of 18 in a
car accident.
• The purpose of this film is to show his
younger sister reminiscing in the
memories she has of her brother.
• In my short film being a Drama, I am
wanting for the audience to develop this
emotional attachment to the characters
and thus connect with the loss of our
protagonist.
PLOT OUTLINE
7. Primary Target Audience:
• Young adults/teenagers, 15+
• Predominantly females
• Students/ Aspirers -People who strive for a
bigger and better lifestyle. These could be the
young people who may have just finished a
degree at university and are in search for a job
wanting to break it into the film industry. With
the drive from their motivation of a better life
they would do a lot of research into the industry
themselves, in turn viewing the short films to
get a better understanding. This could possibly
be to get inspiration for their own amateur film
making and get recognised.
• Possibly people who can relate to the situations
– having a loved one pass away.
• Avid watchers of short films.
• People who like to explore others stories and
situations.
• Those who understand the circumstances and
aren't too saddened/threatened by it.
TARGET
AUDIENCE
Secondary Target Audience:
• Middle aged/older
• Parents possibly
• Families
• Mixture of both male and female.
• Individualists- People who are loners, individualists,
independent thinkers who want to be separate from
the crowd. This sector of the audience could include
the people who like to express their opinions and
views through film. They are the opposite of the
mainstreamers who may be the audience for big
budget full length blockbuster films.
• Succeeders- People, who like to think they are in
control, are powerful, successful and ambitious. This
group of people is mainly driven by their income
wanting to get high up in the industry. If they have
already made it successfully into a powerful position
then they would be the audience that could decide
to invest in a new director etc. from viewing a short
film and bring more money into their company.
