PERSUADING &
ENCOURAGING
2. WHAT IS PERSUADING?
• Persuading is an expression to persuade
someone. So, someone want to do
something as like as persuader’s request.
• To induce to undertake a course of action
or embrace a point of view by means of
argument, reasoning, or entreaty.
• To make someone agree to do something
by giving them reasons why they should.
• To make someone believe that something is
true.
3. HOW TO PERSUADE PEOPLE
1. Understand how timing is everything. If you approach
people when they are more relaxed and open to
discussion, you will most likely achieve faster, better
results.
2. Get to know them. Humans, in general, feel safer
around (and thus are more fond of) people that are
similar to them. So find parallels and make them
known.
3. Speak in the affirmative. Speaking in the affirmative
will help you maintain directness and keep your
intentions clear.
4. HOW TO PERSUADE PEOPLE
4. Lean on ethos, pathos, and logos. Ethos (think
credibility), pathos (relies on your emotions), and
logos (the root world of “logic”).
5. Generate a need. This is rule #1 when it comes to
persuasion. After all, if there's no need for what you're
trying to sell/get/do, it won't happen.
