- 8. FOCUS ON SCIENCE In addition to the 4 AP science courses offered (Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Computer Science), students can “double-up” on science classes and take two per year, starting from the 9th grade. We offer 14 AP classes.
- 9. TEACHER PROFILE: Dr. Laura Trout, chemistry teacher, is a leading author of prestigious Chemistry text books used in schools throughout the United States. Her husband, Dr. Todd Trout, teaches AP Chemistry, choosing to teach at the high school level over his past experience at the university level.
- 10. SUCCESSFUL ALUMNI • Barbara Barlow ’56 is an American pediatric surgeon who was the first woman to train in pediatric surgery at Babies Hospital. Currently: Professor of epidemiology at Columbia University, recipient of the 2011 Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Foundation Hero Award. • Patti Hassler ’73 is the former executive editor of 60 Minutes, an American television newsmagazine program. Currently: Vice President of Communications and Outreach at Children’s Defense Fund.

CAMBRIDGE 2014 SUCCESS STORIES • LanLan Yu is attending Hamilton College (#14 Liberal Arts College) and plans on studying chemical engineering. • Anlan Dong is attending New York University (#32 National University) and plans on studying physics. • Bruce Lin is attending Carnegie Mellon University, studying computer science.

- 14. AWARDS AND HONORS • Lancaster Country Day School is one of six United States schools to be invited to participate at the International Model United Nations in The Hague, Netherlands. This program brings together over 4000 students from 130 countries. • 12% of Country Day students receive commendation from the National Honors Society, in comparison to the national average of 1%.

- Located in a beautiful, safe, upscale neighborhood….near Franklin and Marshall College. Athletic fields surround the school. Our students draw from a large geographic area, with some students driving an hour to school. This testifies to the desirability of the school.
- Explain the philosophy of open lockers.
- All Upper School students have an ipad. All school assignments are given electronically. Real time progress is available to students and parents.
- Also offer Independent Study Classes.
- AP Science Classes: Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Computer Science.
- Jonathan Rajaseelan: current Yale Student. Awarded 2nd International Intel Science Award while an 11th grader at LCDS.
- Current Cambridge 12th Grade Students: Olivia Xu – applying to CMU Computer Science Program. Perfect SAT scores. Also scored 35 on ACT. Boris Huang – applying to Tufts University and CMU. Scored in the 95% of SAT scores. ESL is offered to al International Students. ESL is taught by a native Chinese speaker, Catherine Haddad.
- We have 16 international students: 9 from China, 1 from Korea, 4 from Europe, and 3 from South Africa. Our goal is to have 10% of our student body from other countries. Less than 5% of our students are from China.
- Model MUN program is very elite. Only 6 US schools offer this.
- 10 Chinese students from Cambridge 3 South African Students 2 ASSIST/European students 1 student from Spain Goal: 10% International Students; maximum of 5% from China All International Students are Homestay students. This program is managed by LCDS.
- Top Liberal Art College acceptances: Middlebury College, Hamilton College, Swarthmore College, Bowdoin College, Wesleyan College, Boston College, Washington College in St. Louis, and Wake Forest.
