In Matthew 24, the disciples of Jesus came to Him and asked Him about when the end of the age
would come. Jesus then sat them down and gave them an overview of the timeline of end-time
events. He told them, "when ye see these things happening, know the time is near."
Many of the things that Jesus mentioned have already come to pass. But a few of them are yet to
come. So what are some of the things yet to come?
The Great Deception
The first thing that Jesus warned his disciples about was deception. He said that many would
come in His name and deceive many, saying the end is near. And he warned them not to go after
them. (See Luke 21:8)
This is going on today, but it will continue to get worse as the time to the end draws closer.
Wars and Rumors of Wars
The next event that Jesus spoke of was wars and rumors of wars. He told the disciples not to be
afraid, as those things must happen before the end can come.
Up until today there have been 2 world wars, and both of them occurred in the last 100 years.
More and more powerful weapons are being created everyday, and it seems as though there is
always a war going on somewhere.
Natural Disasters
Natural disasters are also on the rise, and Jesus predicted that they would happen. Earthquakes,
tornadoes, floods and forest fires are becoming more frequent with each passing year. Famines
and epidemic diseases are also on the rise.
The Anti-Christ
In 2 Thessalonians 2, Paul writes that the coming of Jesus Christ cannot happen until the anti-
christ comes and sets up his throne in the temple, as if he were God. Most Christians are still
looking for the anti-christ, but Paul said that the spirit of the anti-christ already existed at the time
of him writing the letter. Thus the anti-christ system is already here as well.
The Beast, the Image, and the Mark of the Beast
2. The beast, the image, and the mark of the beast are also on the watch list. And once again, all
three of them have been, or are on the scene. The beast refers to the Jews who crucified Jesus,
which is not; the image refers to the churches (the Roman Catholic Church, and all those who
came out of it), and the mark of the beast is already written on the forehead, or, on the right hand
of those who do not serve God.
All of the above have been fulfilled, but that does not mean that the end is near. Many people are
anticipating the return of Christ today, but 2 Peter 3:3-4 states that in the last days there will be
scoffers, saying "where is the promise of his coming?" Thus the end cannot and will not come until
those scoffers come unto the scene.
