SESSION V: PLENARY – TECHNICAL METHODS
This plenary session will introduce the participants to the climate change impacts under the context of the less than 2 °C global temperature limit, and the data, methods and tools for assessing climate risks and vulnerabilities in this context. It will also provide latest approaches on economic appraisal for the formulation and implementation of NAPs, methods and tools and reflections on the science-policy interaction. It will end with a talk on how best to utilize information and communication technologies (ICTs) to support adaptation planning and implementation.

7.1 Appraising adaptation in the context of the less than 2 °C temperature limit
This session will look at how to put the less than 2°C global temperature limit into practice in choosing climate scenarios and in focusing adaptation assessment to these scenarios, thereby reducing the range of uncertainty that used to exist.

This document summarizes the costs and benefits of implementing OpenPM practice management software compared to traditional in-house systems. OpenPM offers lower upfront and ongoing costs through a monthly subscription model with no large capital expenses, maintenance fees, or long-term commitments required. It reduces investment risk and saves practices thousands per year compared to typical total ownership costs of in-house systems that are six times the initial software fee over five years. OpenPM provides full-featured software and strong customer support at affordable prices through its software-as-a-service model.
The document discusses the benefits of meditation for reducing stress and anxiety. Regular meditation practice can help calm the mind and body by lowering heart rate and blood pressure. Studies have shown that meditating for just 10-20 minutes per day can have significant positive impacts on both mental and physical health over time.
This document discusses green and sustainable infrastructure (GSI) and the opportunities it presents. GSI parallels the development of green buildings in using innovation to meet owner/investor demands for tangible/intangible returns. Like green buildings, GSI is attracting early investors and will likely mature over 10-15 years. The US faces a large infrastructure funding gap, creating opportunities for private partnerships to deliver more cost-effective GSI projects that provide multiple benefits. Demand is growing from government and private sectors for sustainable infrastructure solutions.
This document discusses the rank and file movement within the United Steelworkers of America (USWA) union from the 1950s-1980s. It notes that black and white steelworkers who joined together in this dissident movement were often labeled "Reds", and examines the role that left-wing individuals and organizations played. It argues that the label "Black + White = Red" had a lot of truth, as communists, socialists, and other leftists had been instrumental in building the original union. It also discusses how black workers tended to develop class consciousness earlier than white workers due to their experience with racial oppression.

The document discusses suggestions for future collaboration projects on health topics between partners in the Danube region under the Trans2Care network. A survey of 52 researchers found most have limited funding and staff, pursuing research through collaboration. The document proposes an evolution of Trans2Care where a core strategic project develops solutions to link research and innovation, supported by efficient thematic projects on specific diseases. This network could be further supported through future Interreg programs that clearly define the goals and roles of strategic versus thematic projects.
This document discusses a study examining the effects of landscape heterogeneity and deer density on understory vegetation in northwestern Pennsylvania. The study hypothesizes that understory plant growth, reproduction and survival are related to deer density in nonlinear ways. It establishes deer density and landscape gradient plots to analyze these relationships, finding initial evidence that deer browsing reduces seedling height and sprout height. The study aims to develop a causal model integrating deer abundance, landscape factors, and their direct and indirect impacts on understory vegetation.
