training was funded by the following IFAD projects in the Gambia: Livestock and Horticulture
Development Project, Participatory Integrated Watershed Management Project and Rural
Finance Project.
ASPRODEB-Senegal: The management of certified groundnut seeds production by c...FIDAfrique-IFADAfrica
This document summarizes the process of establishing cooperatives of groundnut seed producers in Senegal. It outlines how the government's withdrawal from seed production led to a decline in seeds, productivity, and farmer incomes. In response, farmers organized themselves into cooperatives to take responsibility for seed production. The summary details the key steps in establishing the cooperative of groundnut seed producers of PAOS KOTO as a case study, including defining cooperatives, organizing founding assemblies, and establishing management structures. It aims to provide guidance for empowering farmers to professionally produce certified seeds through autonomous and transparent cooperatives.
This document evaluates IFAD's country programme in Ghana from 1980 to present, finding that IFAD projects have been moderately successful in aligning with Ghana's development goals and reducing poverty, particularly through strengthening rural finance institutions and transferring agricultural technologies, though project designs could be improved by better targeting the poorest region and incorporating private sector partnerships and skills. Overall, IFAD has been a major lender for rural development in Ghana but future strategies should focus more efforts on the northern regions with the highest poverty.
Food Facility: Documenting and closing workshop 21-23 march 2012 (Abidjan)FIDAfrique-IFADAfrica
This document provides an indicative agenda for a food facility workshop in Abidjan from March 21-23, 2012. The agenda includes 5 sessions over the 3 days. Session 1 is an opening and introduction. Session 2 involves presentations on objectives and methods. Session 3 focuses on sharing capitalization documents from different countries. Session 4 involves peer review and finalizing the documents based on feedback. The final session discusses lessons learned and knowledge management follow up. The workshop aims to facilitate information exchange between participants on best practices in the food sector.
The document provides an overview of Ghana's national monitoring and evaluation (M&E) system. It describes the national M&E architecture, which includes linking policy, planning, M&E and budgets. It also outlines the national M&E institutional framework and information flows. The national M&E system focuses on results and involves stakeholders in analysis, indicator setting, data collection and reporting. Some achievements include developing M&E guidelines, plans and building capacities. However, challenges remain around human and financial resources, data management, demand for results, and coordination across levels.
