The 3 M's
Marketing, Management & Moments
We started out as 56 strangers who came from all corners of the world and ended up
all landing in Grenoble. Destiny did its magic. Or maybe just life.
19 nationalities, in one room, could be nothing but a boom. A good boom that later
on, fueled friendships, infinite laughter, endless group projects and strong tiess that may
last a lifetime. We shared a long road, mainly sponsored by power point, through which
we got to know each other better, got introduced to diverse cultural backgrounds, things
that were completely new to us and shared memorable moments that included
birthdays, trips, nights out, dinners and sometimes normal celebration of a weekend.
We ended up mingling good and all of our differences melted therefore creating a
harmonious and enjoyable atmosphere in classrooms. The bond with teachers, the funny
WhatsApp conversations, and the creative memes were some of the things that we most
loved about this year.
We are grateful for all the moments that we had, and we couldn't be happier that we
crossed each other's 'paths. This time, next year, every one of us will be carving a new
adventure in his life but one thing for sure is that this year shall forever be a part of our
existence that we all wholeheartedly cherish.
As we hurdled together to paddle away, we
noticed the pristine calmness of the lake and the
austere beauty of the alps it was surrounded
provided for an exquisite scenic beauty which left us
momentarily speechless. The two paddling teams
also held a short race amongst themselves in the
spirit of bonhomie. Through these team activities we
not only got to know our batch mates better, but
additionally it also provided us with the added
thrill of learning something new.
These team sport activities helped us
build a sense of trust and comfort for each other
and gave us a feeling of being unified by a
common goal. It also helped us in getting to
know our Program Director Jovana and Co-
Ordinator Han better, who seemed
very approachable, pleasant and cooperative.
Finally, the feeling of harmony instilled in us
made us eagerly look forward to starting a fresh
new chapter in our lives.
The MSc Marketing Management 2017-18
year started off with a dynamic spirit with an afternoon
of Team Building organized by our Program Director,
Jovana. There was an air of excitement laced with
added anticipation of the future as we gathered in
front of our school GEM on a bright Wednesday
afternoon. Even though, we weren't very well-
acquainted with our batchmates yet, we were
united by the collective spirit of setting out on a new
adventure.
As our journey started, the bus was
filled with excited chatters of us getting to know one
another better. We were joined by Jovana and Han,
our Program director and Co-Ordinator respectively.
Upon arrival, we were briefed by the Instructors there
about the three activities namely paddling, kayaking
and sailing which we were going to participate in,
including the safety precautions we were needed to
adhere to. We were also asked to form two larger
groups and several smaller ones for the paddling,
sailing and kayaking respectively.

Halloween PartyT R I C K O R T R E A T ?
B y   C h r y s a n t h i X o p a p a
All of us from MSc in Marketing
Management 'put on' our best mood to
enjoy the first big gathering of the year.
We danced the night away to music from all
corners of the world, got to know each other
better and had an amazing break from
studies. Of course crazy things happened as
well, but shhhh… it's a secret!
What we can only reveal is the
best 'treat' of this party, the fact that
we shared great moments which
will always remain as beautiful memories.
As images speak better than words,
we decided to show some of our
best (but least embarrassing!) moments…
Certainly a night that had both!!!
From super heroes to movie characters
and from scary witches to dark figures,
the Halloween Party of Tuesday 31st of
October was definitely a night to remember.

We organised a "Potluck" event to get to know our classmates
better as we all were too shy in the beginning of the semester.
"Potluck" is the new social eating experience which brings
diversified cultures together, you know why, because everyone
loves 'Foooood'! It's like a team building activity, few came
with their own dishes and others decided to cook together
which was so fun. Everyone was so excited and we all came with
an empty belly.
Mainly we had Chinese and Indian cuisine namely spicy chicken
curry with chicken biryani and also famous "Aloo Tikki" and Chinese
hotpot with kung pao chicken, I must say Wow!
What a feast it was! The evening was so great, we all got to meet
lovely like-minded foodies and it was also a great beginning for a long
potluck friendship.

Collaborating with Companies
B Y J o y e e B a n e r j e e
Integrative Case provided the students of MSc Marketing Management an
opportunity to devise strategies by co-operating with real companies, including
Sylfen, Business Geographic, Nexterite and Weber Stephen.
While Sylfen is an energy efficiency start-up utilizing renewable energy sources
for energy storage in batteries, Business Geographic specializes in Geo Marketing.
Nexterite, a real time public transportation traffic information service start-up
and Weber Stephen being an American based family owned grill manufacturing
company. The diverse profile of the companies provided students with an insight
of the upcoming industry sectors of tomorrow.
The students were divided into teams dedicated to a specific company. Each
team got an opportunity to act as a consultant to the companies by being in direct
contact of the representatives of the respective companies and by trying to find
suitable solutions to the various problems faced by the said companies.
Finally, the teams got the opportunity to present their pitch to the Professor and
the Company Representatives and a final vote by the company representative was
the deciding factor for a winning team to be chosen and given a small reward. This
practical exposure provided the students with valuable points to keep in mind
when working in the field as real consultants and all in all was an encouraging and
fun experience.
Tableau
B Y V i n n a A n
Founded in 2013 in Seattle
Washington, Tableau software has rapidly
established itself as one of the most
tool
visualisation understanding of
essential for the effective
and
data. Tableau's powerful analytics platform
allows marketers to ask deeper
questions and deliver more meaningful
answers to business problems. Tableau
was invited to come and deliver a
workshop for this year's MSc
Marketing Management students.
Thierry, the representative sent
by Tableau, showed us how to use the
software through an interactive
presentation, guiding us step by step
through the process. I, personally, was
amazed by the effectiveness and
efficiency of Tableau software in
sorting through complicated sets of
data in order to provide a clear and
easily understandable visual.  Through the
workshop, us students have therefore
gained valuable insights into what the
future of data analytics will look like.
No, don't be silly, BAT is not the half of
BATMAN.
That would have been so cool, though.
BAT ' British American Tobacco', is one of
company that we had the pleasure of collaborating
with through a challenging case study, during our
Strategic Marketing Planning course. Our mission
was to determine the next venture that BAT
should dive in based on a deep market analysis and
then constructive recommendations. We were
divided into 5 teams and each team was assigned
to a specific market that featured on the list of
'possible new growth opportunities' for BAT. We
were representatives of Serbia, Czech Republic,
Bulgaria, Montenegro and through our work, we
ran a market & competitor analysis and we tried to
conclude whether it was a good option for BAT.
On the big day, we received for 4 young
representatives from BAT that were also previous
students in GEM. The atmosphere was smooth,
competitive at the end, but generally good and
motivating.
We then got a company presentation from
our visitors and talked about what is it like to
work for BAT and whether there are internship
opportunities available. In the end, they gave us
their feedback and chose a winner team that they
thought did the best job.
It was both a fun & learning experience
that got added up to our experience portfolio
thanks to GEM.
BAT

During the first semester we had the
opportunity to participate in workshops
offered by Hewlett Packard, Procter &
Gamble and Salesforce.
The first months at Grenoble Ecole
de Management prepared us with a wide
range of competences that were useful for
many practical tasks that we have had to
face. Indeed, having the chance to put into
practice what we learnt in the first months
was certainly the best way to see our
improvements and a step forward in
comparison to the beginning of the
program.
The workshops during the first part
of the year were not only useful in terms of
networking, but also to meet other
students from different master programs.
The possibility to work with them in
specific group projects gave us the chance
to brainstorm, enhancing different points
of strength that were crucial for the
efficient development of a business
strategy.
Specifically, in the workshop offered
with the partnership of HP we had the
possibility to measure our competences in a
challenging task: the development of an
efficient and clear website for gamers with
the goal of increasing the online sales.
Targeting the gamers as potential
customers was the the objective of the
workshop, and brainstorming with a diverse
team was crucial to find profitable strategies.
The fact that every team was formed by
students with a different background gave us
multiple perspectives for the implementation
of an effective business strategy. The task was
really challenging, 15 minutes to prepare a
presentation in front of HP employees
demonstrating our ideas. Nevertheless,
considering the huge amount of
presentations that we had in the first part of
the semester, we were able to collect a large
variety of data for the development of our
idea. The employees at the end of the
workshop were impressively satisfied and
congratulated us for the concrete results
given.
The workshops are distributed through
the year, and participating, having the
opportunity to practice with real tasks, is the
best way to improve our competences for
future internships and jobs.

The moment I arrived to GEM, I
started analyzing every possible
opportunity that would help me to step
forward my professional growth and
personal.  Since I started my professional
experience I've been involved in the
pharmaceutical industry and for me was
the moment to continue expanding my
knowledge in this industry. After
discovering the Ambassadors student
program that allows students to become an
ambassador of one of the 30 companies
available, I decided to apply.
After been contacted by Bristol -
Myers Squibb and some interviews, I
became the only non-French student
ambassador of the school. BMS is a global
biopharmaceutical company who offer
innovative medicines to prevent and help
patients over serious diseases. BMS is
pioneer in immune- oncology, with
more than 25.000 employees around the
world in 28 different countries and
considered one of the best and
strongest companies in the
pharmaceutical sector.
You might be wondering
what the responsibilities of an
ambassador are. We basically work
aas a connection between
company and GEM. It's by
promoting the company's image that
we generate student's postulations for
new job opportunities. It is also
important to create events to involve
students with the business and to
generate great student opportunities.
On the month of December,
I visited the company's headquarter
in Paris. I got to meet directors
of marketing, human resources team
and innovation. It was a great
opportunity to get an insight of the
different processes and routines.
Because it is the first time BMS
participates in this kind of projects, we
have weekly meetings where we
discuss new opportunities and
activities. Among the projects being
discussed alongside the other
ambassadors there, is the "Bike & Run"
event leaded by Le Bureau des sports
of GEM.
This
expected to give
activity is
students
the chance of interacting
with companies in an
entertaining way.
To give a closure to
this whole experience, it is
important to say that this is a
unique opportunity that gives
you new perspectives, also an
introduction to a different
work environment, better
insights and enhances your
possibilities as a student and
future leader.

Dr Jovana Stanisljevic,
Your Program Director
Dear Msc Marketing Students,
Looking back on the year behind us, the word that instantly comes to my mind to best illustrate it is
DIVERSITY. Diversity of nationalities, personalities, opinions, topics, activities, situations, challenges…
Diversity is one of the driving forces of today's globalized world and those who are able to manage it
effectively will significantly increase their chances for success in whatever they do, so I can surely say that
the past year has been a great preparation for your future life & careers - well done, you made it through!
When you first joined this program, your main goal was to enrich your marketing experience and
obtain a degree. However, I am sure that you now realize that this year has turned out to be so much more
than that: you have attended classes, completed projects, dealt with very heavy workload and deadlines,
gotten to know each other as well as different teachers, you made friendships for life, you helped each
other through difficult times - you have grown and matured in every possible way!
Some of the memorable moments I will take with me from this year - let's see, there are so many!
Our teambuilding on Lake Paladru - the Dragon Boat race, true memorable moment of teamwork,
excitement and competition emerged in the picturesque landscape of the lake…Your impressive
performances in International Negotiations module, with an emphasis on Suez Canal experience, showing
that you have evolved so much from simple arguing & conflicts to an actual value creation in complex
global relationships… marketing workshops & interactions with managers from several companies visiting
us during this year in the Program… Our "lively" debrief meetings and exchanges on your residential
experience…Me waiting for you for a good 45 minutes in Sun Valley for our organized get-together …
On the other hand, I am sure that one of the things YOU will miss the most would most probably be
the 8 A.M. classes, which I know that you appreciated so much!
This academic year has gone by so fast and we now will part ways - new chapters in life are in front
of you, but regardless of where you are and what you do, you will always be able to take precious
memories of your GEM MSc Marketing experience with you.
Lastly, I would like to finish with a quote:
"A goodbye isn't painful unless you're never going to say hello again"
So indeed, this is not the end! I look forward to having you in the Program again - this time as
Alumni to contribute with your own experience, expertise and possibly give your words of wisdom to the
new generations of students.
Wishing you the best of luck in your future endeavors!

  • 5. The 3 M's Marketing, Management & Moments We started out as 56 strangers who came from all corners of the world and ended up all landing in Grenoble. Destiny did its magic. Or maybe just life. 19 nationalities, in one room, could be nothing but a boom. A good boom that later on, fueled friendships, infinite laughter, endless group projects and strong tiess that may last a lifetime. We shared a long road, mainly sponsored by power point, through which we got to know each other better, got introduced to diverse cultural backgrounds, things that were completely new to us and shared memorable moments that included birthdays, trips, nights out, dinners and sometimes normal celebration of a weekend. We ended up mingling good and all of our differences melted therefore creating a harmonious and enjoyable atmosphere in classrooms. The bond with teachers, the funny WhatsApp conversations, and the creative memes were some of the things that we most loved about this year. We are grateful for all the moments that we had, and we couldn't be happier that we crossed each other's 'paths. This time, next year, every one of us will be carving a new adventure in his life but one thing for sure is that this year shall forever be a part of our existence that we all wholeheartedly cherish.
  • 6. As we hurdled together to paddle away, we noticed the pristine calmness of the lake and the austere beauty of the alps it was surrounded provided for an exquisite scenic beauty which left us momentarily speechless. The two paddling teams also held a short race amongst themselves in the spirit of bonhomie. Through these team activities we not only got to know our batch mates better, but additionally it also provided us with the added thrill of learning something new. These team sport activities helped us build a sense of trust and comfort for each other and gave us a feeling of being unified by a common goal. It also helped us in getting to know our Program Director Jovana and Co- Ordinator Han better, who seemed very approachable, pleasant and cooperative. Finally, the feeling of harmony instilled in us made us eagerly look forward to starting a fresh new chapter in our lives. The MSc Marketing Management 2017-18 year started off with a dynamic spirit with an afternoon of Team Building organized by our Program Director, Jovana. There was an air of excitement laced with added anticipation of the future as we gathered in front of our school GEM on a bright Wednesday afternoon. Even though, we weren't very well- acquainted with our batchmates yet, we were united by the collective spirit of setting out on a new adventure. As our journey started, the bus was filled with excited chatters of us getting to know one another better. We were joined by Jovana and Han, our Program director and Co-Ordinator respectively. Upon arrival, we were briefed by the Instructors there about the three activities namely paddling, kayaking and sailing which we were going to participate in, including the safety precautions we were needed to adhere to. We were also asked to form two larger groups and several smaller ones for the paddling, sailing and kayaking respectively. TEAM BUILDING AT LAKE PALADRU B Y J o y e e B a n e r j e e

B y   C h r y s a n t h i X o p a p a All of us from MSc in Marketing Management 'put on' our best mood to enjoy the first big gathering of the year.  We danced the night away to music from all corners of the world, got to know each other better and had an amazing break from studies. Of course crazy things happened as well, but shhhh… it's a secret! What we can only reveal is the best 'treat' of this party, the fact that we shared great moments which will always remain as beautiful memories. As images speak better than words, we decided to show some of our best (but least embarrassing!) moments…  Certainly a night that had both!!! From super heroes to movie characters and from scary witches to dark figures, the Halloween Party of Tuesday 31st of October was definitely a night to remember.

"Potluck" is the new social eating experience which brings diversified cultures together, you know why, because everyone loves 'Foooood'! It's like a team building activity, few came with their own dishes and others decided to cook together which was so fun. Everyone was so excited and we all came with an empty belly. Mainly we had Chinese and Indian cuisine namely spicy chicken curry with chicken biryani and also famous "Aloo Tikki" and Chinese hotpot with kung pao chicken, I must say Wow! What a feast it was! The evening was so great, we all got to meet lovely like-minded foodies and it was also a great beginning for a long potluck friendship. • 9. Collaborating with Companies B Y J o y e e B a n e r j e e Integrative Case provided the students of MSc Marketing Management an opportunity to devise strategies by co-operating with real companies, including Sylfen, Business Geographic, Nexterite and Weber Stephen. While Sylfen is an energy efficiency start-up utilizing renewable energy sources for energy storage in batteries, Business Geographic specializes in Geo Marketing. Nexterite, a real time public transportation traffic information service start-up and Weber Stephen being an American based family owned grill manufacturing company. The diverse profile of the companies provided students with an insight of the upcoming industry sectors of tomorrow. The students were divided into teams dedicated to a specific company. Each team got an opportunity to act as a consultant to the companies by being in direct contact of the representatives of the respective companies and by trying to find suitable solutions to the various problems faced by the said companies. Finally, the teams got the opportunity to present their pitch to the Professor and the Company Representatives and a final vote by the company representative was the deciding factor for a winning team to be chosen and given a small reward. This practical exposure provided the students with valuable points to keep in mind when working in the field as real consultants and all in all was an encouraging and fun experience.
  • 10. Tableau B Y V i n n a A n Founded in 2013 in Seattle Washington, Tableau software has rapidly established itself as one of the most tool visualisation understanding of essential for the effective and data. Tableau's powerful analytics platform allows marketers to ask deeper questions and deliver more meaningful answers to business problems. Tableau was invited to come and deliver a workshop for this year's MSc Marketing Management students. Thierry, the representative sent by Tableau, showed us how to use the software through an interactive presentation, guiding us step by step through the process. I, personally, was amazed by the effectiveness and efficiency of Tableau software in sorting through complicated sets of data in order to provide a clear and easily understandable visual.  Through the workshop, us students have therefore gained valuable insights into what the future of data analytics will look like.
  • 11. No, don't be silly, BAT is not the half of BATMAN. That would have been so cool, though. BAT ' British American Tobacco', is one of company that we had the pleasure of collaborating with through a challenging case study, during our Strategic Marketing Planning course. Our mission was to determine the next venture that BAT should dive in based on a deep market analysis and then constructive recommendations. We were divided into 5 teams and each team was assigned to a specific market that featured on the list of 'possible new growth opportunities' for BAT. We were representatives of Serbia, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Montenegro and through our work, we ran a market & competitor analysis and we tried to conclude whether it was a good option for BAT. On the big day, we received for 4 young representatives from BAT that were also previous students in GEM. The atmosphere was smooth, competitive at the end, but generally good and motivating. We then got a company presentation from our visitors and talked about what is it like to work for BAT and whether there are internship opportunities available. In the end, they gave us their feedback and chose a winner team that they thought did the best job. It was both a fun & learning experience that got added up to our experience portfolio thanks to GEM. BAT  B Y Z e i n e b B e n G h o z l e n
  • 12. During the first semester we had the opportunity to participate in workshops offered by Hewlett Packard, Procter & Gamble and Salesforce. The first months at Grenoble Ecole de Management prepared us with a wide range of competences that were useful for many practical tasks that we have had to face. Indeed, having the chance to put into practice what we learnt in the first months was certainly the best way to see our improvements and a step forward in comparison to the beginning of the program. The workshops during the first part of the year were not only useful in terms of networking, but also to meet other students from different master programs. The possibility to work with them in specific group projects gave us the chance to brainstorm, enhancing different points of strength that were crucial for the efficient development of a business strategy. Specifically, in the workshop offered with the partnership of HP we had the possibility to measure our competences in a challenging task: the development of an efficient and clear website for gamers with the goal of increasing the online sales. Targeting the gamers as potential customers was the the objective of the workshop, and brainstorming with a diverse team was crucial to find profitable strategies. The fact that every team was formed by students with a different background gave us multiple perspectives for the implementation of an effective business strategy. The task was really challenging, 15 minutes to prepare a presentation in front of HP employees demonstrating our ideas. Nevertheless, considering the huge amount of presentations that we had in the first part of the semester, we were able to collect a large variety of data for the development of our idea. The employees at the end of the workshop were impressively satisfied and congratulated us for the concrete results given. The workshops are distributed through the year, and participating, having the opportunity to practice with real tasks, is the best way to improve our competences for future internships and jobs. • 13. The moment I arrived to GEM, I started analyzing every possible opportunity that would help me to step forward my professional growth and personal.  Since I started my professional experience I've been involved in the pharmaceutical industry and for me was the moment to continue expanding my knowledge in this industry. After discovering the Ambassadors student program that allows students to become an ambassador of one of the 30 companies available, I decided to apply. After been contacted by Bristol - Myers Squibb and some interviews, I became the only non-French student ambassador of the school. BMS is a global biopharmaceutical company who offer innovative medicines to prevent and help patients over serious diseases. BMS is pioneer in immune- oncology, with more than 25.000 employees around the world in 28 different countries and considered one of the best and strongest companies in the pharmaceutical sector.  You might be wondering what the responsibilities of an ambassador are. We basically work aas a connection between company and GEM. It's by promoting the company's image that we generate student's postulations for new job opportunities. It is also important to create events to involve students with the business and to generate great student opportunities. On the month of December, I visited the company's headquarter in Paris. I got to meet directors of marketing, human resources team and innovation. It was a great opportunity to get an insight of the different processes and routines. Because it is the first time BMS participates in this kind of projects, we have weekly meetings where we discuss new opportunities and activities. Among the projects being discussed alongside the other ambassadors there, is the "Bike & Run" event leaded by Le Bureau des sports of GEM.  This expected to give activity is students the chance of interacting with companies in an entertaining way. To give a closure to this whole experience, it is important to say that this is a unique opportunity that gives you new perspectives, also an introduction to a different work environment, better insights and enhances your possibilities as a student and future leader.  My experience as  A G E M A M B A S S A D O R F O R B R I S T O L M Y E R S S Q U I B B B y P a u l a B a l a g u e r a
  • 14. Dr Jovana Stanisljevic, Your Program Director Dear Msc Marketing Students, Looking back on the year behind us, the word that instantly comes to my mind to best illustrate it is DIVERSITY. Diversity of nationalities, personalities, opinions, topics, activities, situations, challenges… Diversity is one of the driving forces of today's globalized world and those who are able to manage it effectively will significantly increase their chances for success in whatever they do, so I can surely say that the past year has been a great preparation for your future life & careers - well done, you made it through! When you first joined this program, your main goal was to enrich your marketing experience and obtain a degree. However, I am sure that you now realize that this year has turned out to be so much more than that: you have attended classes, completed projects, dealt with very heavy workload and deadlines, gotten to know each other as well as different teachers, you made friendships for life, you helped each other through difficult times - you have grown and matured in every possible way! Some of the memorable moments I will take with me from this year - let's see, there are so many! Our teambuilding on Lake Paladru - the Dragon Boat race, true memorable moment of teamwork, excitement and competition emerged in the picturesque landscape of the lake…Your impressive performances in International Negotiations module, with an emphasis on Suez Canal experience, showing that you have evolved so much from simple arguing & conflicts to an actual value creation in complex global relationships… marketing workshops & interactions with managers from several companies visiting us during this year in the Program… Our "lively" debrief meetings and exchanges on your residential experience…Me waiting for you for a good 45 minutes in Sun Valley for our organized get-together … On the other hand, I am sure that one of the things YOU will miss the most would most probably be the 8 A.M. classes, which I know that you appreciated so much! This academic year has gone by so fast and we now will part ways - new chapters in life are in front of you, but regardless of where you are and what you do, you will always be able to take precious memories of your GEM MSc Marketing experience with you. Lastly, I would like to finish with a quote: "A goodbye isn't painful unless you're never going to say hello again" So indeed, this is not the end! I look forward to having you in the Program again - this time as Alumni to contribute with your own experience, expertise and possibly give your words of wisdom to the new generations of students. Wishing you the best of luck in your future endeavors! PROGRAM DIRECTOR LETTER BY Jovana Stanisljevic
