2. God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a
town in Galilee, to a virgin named Mary.
Mary was engaged to be married to a man
named Joseph. The angel said, “You will
become pregnant and give birth to a son.
You are to name him Jesus. He will be the
Messiah!”
Dieu envoya l'ange Gabriel dans Nazareth,
chez une jeune fille dont le nom était
Marie. Marie allait se marier à un homme
appelé Joseph. L'ange lui dit: “Tu tomberas
enceinte et tu donneras naissance à un fils.
Tu lui donneras le nom de Jésus. Il sera le
Fils du Dieu.”

3. About the time Mary was
to give birth, the Roman
government told everyone
to go to the town of their
ancestors for a census. This
meant that Mary and
Joseph had to make a long
journey from where they
lived in Nazareth to
Bethlehem.
Quand approchait le
moment d'enfanter pour
Marie, le gouvernement
Romain ordonna à tout le
monde d'aller dans la ville
de ses ancêtres pour un
recensement. Joseph et
Marie furent obligés de
faire un long voyage de
Nazareth à Béthlehem.

4. When they arrived in
Bethlehem, there was no
place to stay. The only room
they could find was a place
where animals stayed. The
baby was born there and his
mother laid him in a feeding
trough, since they did not
have a bed for him. They
named him Jesus.
Quand ils arrivèrent à
Béthlehem, il n'y avait pas
de place pour eux dans
l'hôtellerie. Le seul endroit
qu'ils purent trouver était
une étable où demeuraient
les animaux. L'enfant naquit
là, et sa mère l'allongea
dans une mangeoire, parce
qu'il n'y avait pas de lit pour
lui. Marie et Joseph lui
donnèrent le nom de Jésus.

5. That night, there were some
shepherds in a nearby field
watching their flocks. Suddenly,
a shining angel appeared to
them, and they were terrified.
The angel said, “Do not be
afraid, because I have some good
news for you. The Messiah has
been born! You will find him
wrapped in pieces of cloth and
lying in a manger.”
Cette nuit là, il y avait, dans cette
même contrée, des bergers qui
gardaient leurs troupeaux. Soudain,
un ange du Seigneur leur apparut,
et ils furent saisis d'une grande
frayeur. L'ange leur dit: “N'ayez
pas peur, car je vous annonce une
bonne nouvelle. Le Messie, le
Seigneur, est né à Béthlehem!
Vous le trouverez emmailloté et
couché dans une crèche.”

6. When the shepherds arrived at the
place where Jesus was, they found him
lying in a manger, just as the angel had
told them. They were very excited. Mary
was very happy, too. The shepherds
returned to the fields, praising God for
all they had heard and seen.
Les bergers arrivèrent aussitôt là où se
trouvait Jésus et le trouvèrent couché dans
une crèche, comme l'ange le leur avait dit.
Ils furent très heureux. Les bergers
retournèrent dans les champs où étaient
leurs troupeaux, glorifiant et louant Dieu
pour tout ce qu'ils avaient entendu et vu.
