The document analyzes Lady Gaga and Beyonce's music video for "Telephone" through a postmodern lens. These include pastiches of old Hollywood films through its font and setting of a women's prison, references to movies like "Kill Bill" and "Thelma & Louise" through vehicles. It also blurs fiction and reality by having Lady Gaga wear a telephone as a hat and give a cooking demonstration. Overall, the analysis argues the video exhibits postmodern traits through its intertextuality and blending of different artistic elements.
Lady Gaga's music video for "Telephone" with Beyoncé exhibits many postmodern elements. It blurs boundaries between genres by including references to films like "Kill Bill" and "Thelma & Louise". Overall, the document analyzes how "Telephone" combines different art forms and styles in a postmodern way.

The video imitates The Beatles' iconic performance on The Ed Sullivan Show to contrast typical hip hop videos of the time. It features Andre 3000 playing multiple band members through special effects. All band members wear green, possibly representing jealousy in the song's lyrics. Ed Sheeran's "Drunk" music video tells the story of him dealing with a bad breakup through narrative and conceptual elements. It shows him getting drunk and having flashbacks of his ex-girlfriend. An unconventional aspect is a cat that communicates with him using subtitles, representing his loneliness. The dark lighting and blue color grading in the house and bar scenes reflect his sadness. The target audience is likely young adults, as the video portrays people solving problems through drinking.
This music video analysis summarizes the 2003 music video for "Hey Ya" by Outkast. The video pays homage to The Beatles' performance on The Ed Sullivan Show by depicting Outkast as a 1960s-style band playing on a television studio stage. All of the band members are played by Andre 3000 using makeup, costumes, and editing to appear as different characters. The video contrasts the typical hip hop music video format through its live performance style and references to classic rock/pop acts like The Beatles.

1) The music video for Tom Odell's "Another Love" is a single continuous shot depicting a couple's relationship deteriorating over time as the man refuses to open up emotionally.
2) It uses subtle changes in lighting, camera angles, and mise-en-scene to represent the passage of time and decline of trust between the two.
3) The simplistic one-shot style contrasts typical flashy pop videos and provides an intimate look into Odell's perspective on difficult love and relationships.
Kanye West's music video for "Power" uses religious and classical art imagery to portray himself as a god-like figure with power, wealth, and women surrounding him. However, the video also shows his downfall, reflecting the song's message that absolute power corrupts. Directed by Marco Brambilla, the video was an innovative conceptual work that helped establish Kanye as an iconic figure in hip hop at the height of his career and influence within the music industry.
Lady Gaga's music video for "Telephone" featuring Beyoncé exhibits many postmodern elements including blurring boundaries between genres, referencing other works of art, and mixing fiction and reality. The video pays homage to films like Thelma & Louise through its narrative and uses props like the car from Kill Bill to blend elements from different media. The video is a continuous single shot of bank staff in London dancing and singing along to the song "Cash in My Pocket" during a normal workday. As the staff performs, a stock market graph is visible in the background. Throughout the video, the graph gets worse until it crashes at the end. This suggests the video is exaggerating and commenting on bankers losing the country's money despite being focused on making their own money. The video starts and ends with cuts to "home video" footage of a wedding, implying the bank footage was found footage being recorded over something else. Overall, the one-take video uses the staff's performance and the changing stock market graph in the background to deliver a message about bankers.
The video is a continuous single shot of bank staff in London dancing and singing along to the song "Cash in My Pocket" during a normal workday. As the staff performs, the stock market graph in the background changes to show a market crash, implying the bankers lost a lot of money despite being focused on dancing. The video starts and ends with shaky "home video" footage of a wedding, suggesting the bank footage was found footage being recorded over. Through this one-take concept and juxtaposition of dancing bankers with a crashing market, the video provides social commentary on bankers and the economy.
