Landell Mills Assessment Scoping Mission for DFID B Feb2015 finalNizam Al-Hussainy
This document summarizes the findings of a scoping mission commissioned by DFID Bangladesh to investigate options for managing funding from the International Climate Fund to promote climate resilience and disaster recovery activities. The mission evaluated a challenge fund approach alongside other options. Through meetings with over 30 organizations, the mission found support for a hybrid fund model combining a challenge fund and managed fund. This proposed approach seeks to balance DFID's objectives with stakeholder perspectives to effectively support climate adaptation and disaster response in Bangladesh. The report outlines the hybrid fund recommendation and next steps for design and implementation.
The evaluation assessed the Somalia Food Security and Nutrition Analysis Unit (FSNAU) and found that:
1. FSNAU provides high quality food security and nutrition information that is widely used by organizations for project design, funding justification, and policy development. However, some clients find the large volume of technical information difficult to understand and apply.
2. While FSNAU's assessment methodology is appropriate, the information could be better tailored to local needs by simplifying technical reports and providing more guidance to different user groups.
3. FSNAU has primarily focused on emergency scenarios due to constraints, but aims to develop more information to support development through its livelihoods research.
4. Limited synerg

This mid-term review summarizes the Lake Chilwa Basin Climate Change Adaptation Programme in Malawi, which aims to improve livelihoods of 1.4 million people in the basin. The programme is implemented by LEAD, FRIM and WFC and has made progress, but also faced challenges. Key findings include:
- Interventions have benefited sectors like agriculture, fisheries and forestry through activities like conservation agriculture, fish processing and tree planting.
- However, the scale has been limited and impact indicators have not been fully monitored as planned.
- Coordination among partners has improved but could be further strengthened by a programme manual.
- Studies have been conducted but opportunities for student research are
This document provides a summary of a publication about Somalia that discusses its current conflicts, chances for state building, and the experiences of the Heinrich Böll Foundation in Somalia. The publication contains six chapters that examine Somalia's historical conflicts, state failure drivers, the success of Somaliland in rebuilding institutions, the development of civil society without a state, gender dynamics in Somali society, and the Heinrich Böll Foundation's work in Somalia focused on civil society.
Phase-shift keying (PSK) is a digital modulation technique that encodes data by manipulating the phase of a carrier wave. In PSK, the phase of the carrier is shifted by 0 or 180 degrees for binary digits 0 and 1. The two most common PSK types are BPSK, which uses two phases separated by 180 degrees, and QPSK, which uses four phases separated by 90 degrees to encode two bits per symbol. PSK has advantages like power efficiency and bandwidth efficiency compared to other modulation techniques. It is used in wireless networks and RFID standards. MATLAB can be used to simulate and demodulate PSK signals.
This report summarizes the formulation of an Annual Action Programme for 2015 funded by the European Union's 11th European Development Fund for interventions in Tanzania's agriculture sector. It includes action fiches outlining two proposed projects to enhance access to markets and value additions, and support food security and nutrition. The fiches provide context on Tanzania's agriculture and nutrition challenges, expected results, activities, risks, stakeholders, and implementation details. Meeting minutes are included documenting stakeholder consultations to inform the programme's design. The overall aim is to comprehensively support Tanzania's agriculture and nutrition sectors through these EU-funded interventions.
