eLearning is defined as the delivery of electronic educational and instruction content via the Internet, intranet, or extranet. Encompassed in the Siebel eLearning strategy are four key areas:
On-line Learning, and
Computer Base Training.
You may ask why distance learning is outside of eLearning? It’s because distance learning can mean instruction over the Internet, intranet or extranet, but it can also mean broadcast satellite, audio conferences, video conferencing, etc., which are all methods of delivering distance learning that do not necessarily utilize the Internet, intranet or extranet.
So some simple definitions:
Computer based training in when all the content is played locally on one machine.
On line learning is when the learner is connected.
Distance Learning is education or training courses delivered to remote locations via synchronous or asynchronous means of instruction, including written correspondence, text, graphics, audio- and videotape, CD-ROM, online learning, audio- and videoconferencing, interactive TV, and facsimile.
You will receive a copy of the eLearning strategy document as part of this meeting which will describe our service offerings around distance learning, learning portals, and eLearning consulting and partnership, but for this presentation we are going to focus strictly on the Media Strategy component of the eLearning Strategy.
