2. Lequel préfères-tu?
• Ce, cette
These are adjectives we use to point out or "demonstrate" where items are located with respect to the speaker.
They are called "demonstrative adjectives." Since they are adjectives, they each have four forms. Observe.
Masculine Feminine plural
Ce cette ces
(cet if before a
vowel sound)
• We attach "-ci" and "-là" to the end of the noun we are referring to to say "this" or
"that".
• Note that when the next (masculine) word begins with a vowel sound, we will use
the "cet" special form.
• J'aime ce chien-là.- that dog there. Ce chien-ci- this dog here.
• J'aime cette vache-ci. This cow here. Cette vache-là- that cow there
• J'aime cet animal-ci.

3. Je préfère…
Je préfère cette vache-ci parce que les vaches
sont amusantes. OU Je préfère ce cheval-là
parce que les chevals sont beaux.
Je préfère cette girafe-ci parce que les girafes
sont grandes. OU Je préfère ce singe-là
Parce que les singes sont amusants.

4. Les comparaisons
• In order to make comparisons:
+ plus… que Irregulars:
- moins… que plus bon(ne)- meilleur(e)
= aussi… que plus mauvais(e) - pire
Take care that since we are dealing with
adjectives, we have to pay attention to the
gender and number of the adjective.

5. Au travail
• This girafe (here) is prettier than that girafe
(there) because it’s taller.
• Cette girafe-ci est plus belle que cette girafe-là
parce que c’est plus grande.
• This red car is as fast as that green car.
• Cette voiture rouge est aussi vite que cette
voiture verte.
