C/ “CRASH TEST” : THE ITALIAN CASE
With my colleague Dr Bachir Athmani, we will regularly assess the potential mass health / influx systems of
patients.
Remember that 15% of the forms are severe and require hospital monitoring (venous route, O2, ...); also, 5% of
infections require surveillance in intensive care, with discussion of VA (Assisted Ventilation) or even
plasmapheresis or "artificial lung" (staff of 6 people for 24/7), on often aged and polypathological grounds.
Italy is in the acceleration phase since its 1st cases on February 1, with initial containment measures rather
limited (thus many “export” cases: China, Algeria, ..), even if it was badly felt (see mutiny with one dead
yesterday because limitation of visits to prisons). In the North, doctors are already overwhelmed, particularly
anesthesiologists.
We understand better why Italy has in recent days placed in quarantine 15 million people in 11 areas (including
the regions of Milan, Venice and Parma). Investment of 8 Billion Euros for the fight against the Covid, valid by
Europe, despite the country's deficit budget

Avec mon collègue le Dr Bachir Athmani, nous évaluerons régulièrement les systèmes de sante / afflux massifs
potentiels de patients.
Rappelons que 15% des formes sont sévères et nécessitant un monitoring hospitalier (voie veineuse, O2,...);
également, 5% des infections nécessitent une surveillance en réanimation, avec discussion de VA (Ventilation
Assistée) voire plasmaphérèse ou « poumon artificiel » (staff de 6 personnes pour 24/7), sur des terrains souvent
âgés et polypathologiques.
Italie est en phase d’accélération depuis ses 1 ers cas le 1er février, avec des mesures de confinement initiales
plutôt limitées (ainsi nombreux cas “exportes” : Chine, Algérie,..), même si cela a été mal ressenti (cf mutinerie
avec un mort hier car limitation des visites dans les prisons).
Au Nord les médecins sont déjà débordés et particulièrement les anesthésistes.
On comprend mieux pourquoi l’Italie a depuis quelques jours, placé en quarantaine 15 millions de personnes sur
11 zones (dont les régions de Milan, Venise et Parme)..
Investissement de 8 Milliards d`Euros pour la lutte contre le Covid, valide par l`Europe, et ce malgré le budget
déficitaire du pays.

Telemedicine is going to “explode”, because we need doctors ... and non-contaminated doctors! Limitation of

Schools: they can be closed, not because the virus is dangerous for them (very rarely symptomatic), but above all
children can transmit it easily (see close contacts, ...) to vulnerable populations (> 65 years, pathology chronic

and the world health authorities risk doing pressure on the selling price of the treatment.

1. Si nous avons vu que certains secteurs (tourisme, retails, fret international, événementiel, …) ont déjà énormement
souffert l’an dernier (“gilets jaunes”, grèves,...), cette nouvelle crise sanitaire, va encore les impacter, et particulièrement
les PME (une pensée particulière à tous mes amis entrepreneurs qui sont encore dans la turbulence avec les charges
salariales et locatives à payer alors que l’économie tourne au ralenti).
2. Avec Jennifer, nous nous penchons sur le futur, et par suite : “Qui dit futur dit Bourse”...après avoir analysé un cours
dans la tourmente, il y a 2 jours (Société de croisières), nous abordons aujourd`hui celui d`un groupe pharmaceutique,
“stimulé” par le coronavirus : Gilead
3. Développé pour lutter contre le SRAS puis Ebola, le remdesivir, produit par le géant pharmaceutique américain Gilead
