Public Notification of Emerging Postmarket Medical Device SignalsMarket iT
This draft guidance describes the FDA's policy for notifying the public about emerging signals related to medical devices. An emerging signal is new information the FDA is monitoring that could impact treatment decisions or alter a device's risk-benefit profile, but has not been fully validated. The guidance proposes criteria, timeframes, and methods for communicating emerging signals to health care providers, patients, and consumers before the FDA has reached conclusions or recommendations. The goal is to provide timely information to support informed treatment decisions based on the most current data, while recognizing risks of uncertainty in unconfirmed information.

NHS England - Managing conflicts of interestMarket iT
The document proposes strengthening policies around managing conflicts of interest across the NHS in England. It proposes:
1) Strengthening statutory guidance for Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) around managing conflicts of interest, including increasing lay members, designating a "conflicts of interest guardian", requiring annual audits and publishing findings.
2) Establishing a cross-NHS task force, chaired by Sir Malcolm Grant, to develop consistent rules on managing conflicts of interest across the healthcare system.
3) Strengthening NHS England's internal conflicts of interest policy and processes.
The Board is asked to approve consulting on strengthened CCG guidance, establishing the cross-NHS task force, and progressing NHS
The document summarizes a 2014 ruling by the European Court of Justice that established an individual's "right to be de-listed" from search engine results. Specifically:
- The ruling stemmed from a case where a Spanish man requested search engines de-list outdated personal information about a debt he had since paid.
- The Court ruled that search engines are subject to European data protection laws and must comply with individual requests to de-list certain personal data, under certain conditions.
- While some called this a "right to be forgotten," the Court affirmed existing rights to access, erase, and object to the processing of personal data in European law. The ruling was an important application of these principles to search engines.
