This document discusses designing for new technology. It begins by defining different types of "new" including new to the world, market, industry, company or individual. It emphasizes that new technology takes longer than expected and has unknown limitations. It recommends prototyping early, testing usability, and helping potential users understand the technology through demonstration and clear explanation. The rest of the document discusses managing user expectations given their experience with older technologies, giving the new technology a coherent personality, and establishing its meaning and value compared to existing alternatives. It argues that new technology needs clear affordances, metaphors and emotional resonance to be successfully adopted.

This document discusses how new technology and social media impact romantic relationships. It provides statistics from a survey that show both positive and negative effects. While technology can enhance communication between partners, it can also reduce quality time together and cause jealousy over time spent online. The document explores theories for why the internet is so compelling, such as anonymity and an altered sense of reality, and discusses challenges it can introduce to relationships like misunderstandings, distraction, and opportunities for cybersex and infidelity.
Nippon Pulse America unraveling the mystery of stepper motor technology pre...Servo2Go.com
The document discusses stepper motor technology, including how stepper motors work by using electromagnetic coils and permanent magnets to rotate the motor in discrete steps. It describes the different types of stepper motors like permanent magnet, variable reluctance, and hybrid motors. It also covers topics like bipolar and unipolar coil windings, basic motor testing with an ohmmeter, and the electronic components that control and power stepper motors.
Stepper Motor Types, Advantages And Applicationselprocus
A stepper motor is an electromechanical device which converts electrical pulses into discrete mechanical movements. The shaft or spindle of a stepper motor rotates in discrete step increments when electrical command pulses are
applied to it in the proper sequence. The motors rotation has several direct relationships to these applied input pulses. The sequence of the applied pulses is directly related to the direction of motor shafts rotation. The speed of the
motor shafts rotation is directly related to the frequency of the input pulses and the length of rotation is directly related to the number of input pulses applied.
This document discusses repulsion motors, including their construction, types, advantages, disadvantages, and applications. Repulsion motors operate based on the principle of magnetic repulsion between the stator and rotor fields. They are classified as single-phase motors and have a stator, rotor connected to a commutator, and brushes. The three main types are compensated repulsion motors, repulsion-start induction-run motors, and repulsion induction motors. Repulsion motors can operate at higher voltages than other commutator motors and are commonly used to power high-speed lifts, fans, pumps, hoists, air compressors, and mining equipment. However, they also have disadvantages like sparking at the brushes and
Motor StarterTypes and Technology of Motor Starter And Its Applicationselprocus
Most induction motors are started directly on line, but when very large motors are started that way, they cause a disturbance of voltage on the supply lines due to large starting current surges. To limit the starting current surge, large induction motors are started at reduced voltage and then have full supply voltage reconnected when they run up to near rotated speed.
The document discusses motor insurance policies in India. It introduces different types of motor insurance policies including liability-only and comprehensive policies. It describes key elements of motor insurance policies like third party liability coverage, own damage coverage, no claim bonus, and standard policy wordings as per the All India Motor Tariff. It also provides an overview of own damage claims process and settlements.
Practical Motor Protection, Control and Maintenance TechnologiesLiving Online
It is estimated that electrical drives and other rotating equipment consume about 50% of the total electrical energy consumed in the world today (and this figure increases to 70% if you only consider industry). The cost of maintaining electrical motors can be a significant amount in the budget item of manufacturing and mining industries. This workshop gives you a thorough understanding of electrical motor’s protection, control and maintenance and gives you the tools to maintain and troubleshoot electrical motors.
You will gain a fundamental understanding of the protection, control and maintenance of electric motors and drives. Typical applications of electric motors in mining, manufacturing, materials handling and process control are covered in detail. The concluding section of the workshop gives you the fundamental tools in troubleshooting motors confidently and effectively.

New technology - the threat to our informationnormanlamont
The document discusses the threat posed by new telephone technology to corporate information security and compliance. It notes that telephone conversations can now occur across long distances and to many people at once, allowing wrong or misleading information to spread within and outside a company undetected. The document warns that without proper controls and monitoring of telephone usage, companies face risks to their accurate information, compliance, values, and reputation from the uncontrolled spread of communications via this new technology.
History has many examples of powerful companies that seem to be unbeatable. Then in a short time they become irrelevant due to new companies with new ideas. One of the factors in such transformation is technology. Never in history has technological change been so important in building and destroying companies.
We look at few examples of successful companies that fail to address the changing times and become disrupted. We also look at why technology emerges when it does and why some ideas can only be realised when certain conditions are met.
In this first lecture we set the tone for the course and define the themes that we will be looking at.
This document discusses silent sound technology, which allows people to communicate without making audible sounds. It works by using electromyography to detect tiny muscle movements involved in speech and processing images of a person's mouth and face. The technology was first conceptualized in a 1968 film and is now being developed to allow "lost calls" in noisy environments to be answered silently. Potential applications include helping mute people communicate, secretly transmitting PIN numbers, and covert military communications. The technology is expected to be incorporated into phones and improve as nanotechnology advances.
The document discusses several topics related to global energy security including:
- Types of energy sources and factors affecting energy reserves and consumption around the world
- Issues with energy supply and demand in regions like Europe, Asia, and Africa
- Threats to energy security including dependency on imports, political instability, and human/physical factors
- Examples of disruptions to energy supplies between Russia and Europe
- Options for increasing energy supply and the impacts of developing resources like Canada's oil sands
Artificial intelligence (AI) is everywhere, promising self-driving cars, medical breakthroughs, and new ways of working. But how do you separate hype from reality? How can your company apply AI to solve real business problems?
Here’s what AI learnings your business should keep in mind for 2017.

1) Découvrez comment l'inaction, c'est-à-dire le fait de ne pas agir ou d'agir alors qu'on le devrait ou qu'on est censé le faire, est un obstacle à une vie épanouie ;
> Comment l'inaction affecte-t-elle l'avenir du jeune ? Que devraient plutôt faire les jeunes pour se racheter et récupérer ce qui leur appartient ? A découvrir dans le document ;
