Don’t forget, We Use:
La with words that are feminine & singular
la fille, la bibliothèque, la plage
Le with words that are masculine & singular
le garçon, le magasin, le cinéma, le supermarché
L’ with singular words that start with a vowel (or the letter h)
l’homme, l’école, l’écharpe
Les with all plural words
Les filles, les garçons, les magasins, les écoles

But you have to be VERY careful when
you use it after the word “de”
Remember:
“de” = from, of
4. So if I want to say “from the…” or “of the…”
de + la STAYS « de la »
de + l’ STAYS « de l’ »
de + le CHANGES to « du »
de + les CHANGES to « des »
de la, de l’, du, & des ALL
TRANSLATE to « from the »
or « of the »

Je viens de la bibliothèque = CORRECT
(I’m coming from the library)
Je viens de l’école = CORRECT
(I’m coming from the school)
Je viens de le magasin = INCORRECT
Je viens du magasin = CORRECT
(I’m coming from the store)
Je viens de les bibliothèques = INCORRECT
Je viens des bibliothèques = CORRECT
(I’m coming from the libraries)
