The document discusses the benefits of meditation for reducing stress and anxiety. Regular meditation practice can help calm the mind and body by lowering heart rate and blood pressure. Studies have shown that meditating for just 10-20 minutes per day can have significant positive impacts on both mental and physical health over time.
Application of Attack Graphs in Intrusion Detection Systems: An ImplementationCSCJournals
This document discusses integrating attack graphs with intrusion detection systems to help identify complex multi-stage attacks. It proposes an architecture where an intrusion detection system detects alerts and stores them in a database. A vulnerability scanner identifies vulnerabilities, and an attack graph generator uses the alerts and vulnerabilities to generate and update an attack graph. A tool then analyzes the alerts and attack graph to highlight detected intrusions on the graph. The goal is to help administrators better understand the progression of attacks by visualizing how alerts may be related across different stages of an attack. As a proof of concept, the paper implements this using SNORT for intrusion detection, NESSUS for vulnerability scanning, and MULVAL for attack graph generation.
The Influence of Participant Personality in Usability TestsCSCJournals
This paper presents the results of a study investigating the impact of participant personality on usability testing. Data were collected from 20 individuals who participated in a series of usability tests. The participants were grouped into 10 introverts and 10 extroverts, and were asked to complete a set of four experimental tasks related to the usability of an academic website. The results of the study revealed that extroverts were more successful than introverts in terms of finding information as well as discovering usability problems, although the types of problems found by both groups were mostly minor. It was also found that extroverts spent more time on tasks but made more mistakes than introverts. From these findings, it is evident that personality dimensions have significant impacts on usability testing outcomes, and thus should be taken into consideration as a key factor of usability testing.
The document discusses the importance of social sciences in the industrial engineering curriculum. It begins by defining industrial engineering as concerned with designing integrated systems involving people, materials, information, energy, and equipment. It draws on knowledge from mathematics, physical sciences, social sciences, and engineering principles.
The document then lists various branches of social sciences, including anthropology, sociology, politics, economics, psychology, and more. It questions which social sciences should be included in the industrial engineering curriculum at Brawijaya University to support abilities like product design, process planning, facilities design, company planning, and supply chain design. Finally, it categorizes social science branches into historical sciences, cultural sciences, humanities, business sciences, and governance
Development of Modified Evaluation and Prioritization of Risk Priority Number...CSCJournals
This document proposes a modified method for evaluating and prioritizing risk in Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA). The traditional FMEA method uses a Risk Priority Number (RPN) approach that can result in different failure modes receiving the same RPN score. The proposed method addresses this by calculating an RPN range for failure modes when ranking scores differ. It then prioritizes risks based on the smallest RPN range. The method is applied to analyze water leakage failures in buildings. Statistical analysis techniques are used to evaluate the proposed method and results indicate it provides a useful approach for RPN evaluation and failure mode prioritization.
Nowadays, computers and internet are playing the major role in the development of business and different aspects of human lives; hence, the quality of user-computer interface became an important issue. User interface (UI) can become an Achilles heel in a well-functioning system; due to the fact that most users judge the quality of a product by its usability. The UI layout design improves the usability of a product and accordingly may determine its success; so, due to this and more, the need of an objective way of evaluation of UI has arisen. This paper discusses various UI usability evaluation techniques and shows the recent developments in this field.

This document discusses Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA). It begins by defining key terms like probability, risk, risk measurement, and risk management. It then explains that FMEA is a manual analysis method used to determine the consequences of failures in components, modules, or subsystems. The FMEA process involves identifying potential failure modes, their causes and effects, current controls, and developing recommendations to address high priority risks. Seven steps of the FMEA process are outlined, including determining failure modes and associated risks, effects, causes, controls, recommended actions, and comparing results. An example of applying FMEA to a truck stop coffee process is also provided.

« La campagne “Les Filles Aussi”
menée par la fondation L’Oréal
est une action décisive qui va
inciter nombre de jeunes filles
à s’intéresser aux sciences et à
la foule de métiers scientifiques
méconnus. Malgré sa force, cette
campagne ne doit pas être un
événement isolé. Je souhaite
contribuer pleinement à cette
noble cause en réaffirmant mon
soutien et celui de mon ministère.
Ce combat va au-delà de
l’intégration des femmes au
domaine de la science, c’est une
lutte pour l’égalité homme-
femme, pour l’adaptation de
l’Education nationale, et contre
le déterminisme et les préjugés.
Préjugés qui ne datent pas d’hier !
Au XVIIIe siècle, Rousseau écrivait
« UNE LUTTE POUR L’ÉGALITÉ
HOMMES-FEMMES »
« UN PROFESSEUR
GARÇON N’AILLE
PAS EN S. UNE FILLE, NON »
Ingénieur du son,
DJ, développeur
d’appli mobile… les
nouveaux métiers
scientifiques abondent.
‘‘ Il est inutile d’enseigner la
science aux femmes’ ’.
L’invisibilité des femmes dans le
domaine scientifique est un
héritage culturel. Il faut attendre
1924 pour que les hommes et
les femmes suivent le même
programme scolaire en science !
Résultat ? Les chiffres sont
effarants : 80 % des filles vont
en filière littéraire, 75 % en
prépa littéraire contre 28 %
en école d’ingé. Pour la première
fois, en 2014, une femme
remporte la médaille Fields, le
« Nobel » de maths. Pourtant, les
femmes ne sont pas moins
capables que les hommes. La
science a un impact majeur sur la
société et l’absence des femmes
lui est hautement préjudiciable. »
