3. You might have already heard of our region because of its famous celebration: “Las Fallas ” or its internationally known dish “la paella”. However, we would like to give you more information
4. Our city is situated on the shore of the sea and therefore has a mediterranean climate, that is, warm temperatures and not much rain. There is an average temperature of 17 degrees, with minimums of 5 degrees in winter and maximums of 35 degrees in summer.
5. Grâce à son climat exceptionnel et à ses nombreuses plages, Alicante a été toujours un lieu touristique renommé.
6. Elle n’est pas trop grande, elle a un peu plus de 300.000 habitants, mais sa banlieue est très peuplée et l’ensemble dépasse les 700.000 habitants.

10. D’ailleurs notre région était connue comme « la huerta de España » (le potager d’Espagne ) Traditionnellement notre source de richesse principale était l’agriculture . Ici on cultive surtout des agrumes (oranges et citrons) (Il faut goûter nos oranges, elles sont très bonnes) Mais on peut trouver aussi une grande variété de fruits et légumes (comme grenades, caquis, « nísperos », artichauts,...)

15. Dernièrement l’industrie du cinéma a choisi Alicante pour s’installer et on a construit de nouveaux studios. Ils s’appellent « Ciudad de la Luz » Dans les dernières années beaucoup de films ont été tournés ici. Comme par exemple « Astérix et les jeux olympiques »
16. La plupart des touristes cherchent seulement nos plages mais ceux qui restent ont l’occasion de découvrir que l’intérieur de notre région est aussi très beau.
17. Là se trouvent les montagnes, qui sont restées peu peuplées et très sauvages.
18. Là bas, on peut visiter de jolies villes et villages , qui ont su garder leurs traditions, ou faire de la randonnée entre sommets, gorges et ravins

20. Alicante a beaucoup d’histoire. Dans ses origines elle a été en contact avec les Grecs et les Phéniciens, Il y a des restes romains au nord de la ville, à Lucentum, c’est pourquoi Alicante s’appelle aussi Ciudad de la luz (ville de la lumière) .
21. Vous pouvez visiter « le château fort de Santa Bárbara », perché sur le mont Benacantil et absolument inexpugnable, l’une des plus grandes forteresses médiévales d’Espagne, qui a une vue exceptionnelle sur la ville et la mer.

29. Quand vous visiterez notre ville, vous pourrez observer que les gens d’ici parlent deux langues : l’espagnol, aussi appelé le castillan, et le valencien, notre langue autochtone.
30. Notre ville est ouverte à l’extérieur, mais elle a su garder ses traditions, comme sa riche gastronomie , à base de légumes et poissons, et ses fêtes populaires.

33. They are burnt on the 24 th of June in the night of the cremà, with the popular banyà (washing ) carried out by firefighters who extinguish the fires and wet all the spectators. It's lost of fun. The festival Hogueras de San Juan has been declared of International Tourist Interest. It is rooted in the tradition of burning useless objects with the arrival of the summer solstice.
34. Une autre fête traditionnelle est celle des Moros y cristianos (Maures et Chrétiens). Certains de nos quartiers (et d’autres villes de la région) commémorent la reconquête du territoire aux arabes. Le défilé de l’armée maure et chrétienne est impressionnant. Si vous êtes dans le coin, vous ne devez pas le manquer.
35. In winter, young people combine their studies and leisure. During the weekend we go to the bars and discos at the port and to an area downtown called “el Barrio”.
36. Nightlife is really lively and fun. There is a great atmosphere. On the other hand, in summer we go to the beach and in the evening we go have a drink
