INTRODUCTION: This is a report for the month of January, 2022. This report contains
Patronage, Activities, visits, Problems and conclusion.
PATRONAGE: During the period of the month of January, 2022, the Sumbrungu
Community Library was on a New Year break which took place from the 31st
December, 2021
and later resumed on the 10th
January, 2022. We had a thorough general cleaning in and out
the library. We started fully on the 11th
of January. Also all the schools where on vacation in
order for the students to go and celebrate the New Year. But the Senior High Schools resumed
on the 4th
January and later both the junior high and the primary schools also resumed on the
18th
January. The patronage for that first week was very low but later we recorded a very good
number of patronage from the second week of the reopening of schools. I was alone at our
community library because Mr. Timothy was asked to go and work at the Sherigu Community
Library until a new librarian replace him.
ACTIVITIES: These were the activities that took place in the library during the month of
January, 2022. Schools visitation, Group reading, Story reading and games.
During the month of January, I was able to visit some schools in the Sumbrungu
community to inform them about the plans that are undertaking to form a Library Reading
Club. Also I used that as an opportunity to interact with the students about the importance of
the community library, its opening and closing hours.
Again, during the visitations I shared a story with the students and also taught them how to
spell and pronounce words. I was able to visit 10 schools in the month of January and I hope
to visit more in February as well with Mr. Timothy.
Group reading is one of the major activity in the Library. This is done when students are
been grouped and the same books are given to them to read and after reading we then discus
the book that they have read. On the 20th
January, I had a Group Reading with the St. Charles
Luwanga primary students.
Again, on the 24th
January, the Sumbrungu Kolgo Junior High students visited the library and
we had a wonderful group reading.
In the Sumbrungu Community Library, Fridays are meant for games and video show.
Some of the games that were played during the month where oware, puzzles and fixtures.

VISITORS: The library receives visitors from the Ghana Education Service Bolgatanga
municipal Office on the 18th
January and their purpose was that they wanted to know how
students are patronizing the library and the challenges we are facing in the library. Also during
the month Mr Benedict Akana the Project/Library coordinator of CESRUD/FAVL visited the
library.
PROBLEMS: The problems we the Sumbrungu Community library are facing includes;
inadequate of furniture, inadequate of textbooks for primary, Junior High and Senior High.
Also we need more games and Africa story books.
CONCLUSION: The Sumbrungu Community Library wish to express their gratitude to the
CESRUD/FAVL for their tireless support to the Sumbrungu Community Library.
