• Beef production contributes to GHG emissions and to
carbon sequestration
• Some mitigation practices are identified without
dissemination
• No tool has been developed for GHG advice on farm
• Farmers are not really aware about GHG and carbon
sequestration
• Nothing has been done to increase awareness and
promote sustainable beef production

LIFE BEEF CARBON, key objectives
• Develop a common framework (on GHG and livestock) in
the 4 countries
• Educate farmers and technicians, develop tools and
methods to approach the link between GHG and practices
• Create an European beef carbon footprint observatory
• Identify, test and promote the low carbon practices in a
network of innovative farms
• Launch a low carbon national/European dynamic involving
farmers, agricultural advisors
