Good MOOC, Bad MOOC 2: The return of the MOOC turtleAndy Wright
This document discusses using MOOCs for recruitment, re-use of content, and generating revenue. It proposes using MOOCs as recommended reading, try before you buy options, or prerequisites. It also discusses reusing MOOC videos in other courses, justifying spending on MOOCs, and increasing faculty presence to provide a richer learning experience. Closed online courses and developing online programs are presented as alternatives to MOOCs. Lastly, it addresses using MOOCs for research and outreach regarding liver disease and the impact of learner diversity in MOOC communities.
Andy Wright leads the development of distance learning and MOOCs at the University of Birmingham. He discusses the evolution of delivering two specific courses online, as well as the phenomenon of eLearning more broadly. Various reasons are provided for moving education online, such as flexibility for working students and scalability. Overall feedback indicates the online courses are well-received by students, though live elements like residential weeks are still important. The document examines approaches to online delivery and concludes that while technology continually changes, the core motivations and goals of education remain the same.
The document discusses the evolution of e-learning from desktop computers allowing training without instructors, to employers using desktop computers to train employees without trainers, to the internet allowing global connection of computers and wireless technology expanding e-learning to other devices, with the overall progression being the increased use of electronic technology in teaching and learning without physical teachers or trainers present.
This document discusses the evolution of e-learning and predictions about the future of e-learning, referred to as e-learning 3.0. It begins by reviewing e-learning 1.0 and 2.0, noting how technologies and learning theories have progressed. Predictions for e-learning 3.0 include learning becoming contextual and personalized through intelligent technologies that are integrated everywhere. Challenges with current e-learning models are also discussed, such as information overload and an inefficient knowledge cycle. The document suggests artificial intelligence will play a larger role in e-learning 3.0 by helping address these challenges as data and computing resources increase.

The document discusses the evolution of eLearning from eLearning 1.0 to the emerging eLearning 3.0. eLearning 1.0 focused on making content accessible online and tracking user activities. eLearning 2.0 enabled social learning and user-generated content through technologies like blogs and social media. eLearning 3.0 will utilize artificial intelligence, big data, and learning analytics to automatically discover new learning models from user data and apply them to support learners. It will activate learning theories like pragmatism and connectivism through technologies like semantic networks that connect people and information. The document proposes creating learning networks to improve knowledge sharing and make connections between learners, content, and tasks.

How to build an API your developers will love - Code.talks 2015, Hamburg by M...Michael Kuehne-Schlinkert
In the last years API spread out around the world. Every modern application provides or consumes at least one API. It became very easy to setup an API, but it became even easier to build APIs no one really wanted to use. Especially if you are providing a public API, your API should be so user friendly that your mom could use it or at least an inexperienced developer who never used an API before. As an independent software engineer I have worked with various clients designing, building, testing, maintaining and even redesigning private and public APIs; starting from a simple API for Single-Page-Application to a highly scalable and complex kickass API serving millions of users every day.
In this talk I would like to share my experience from these projects giving some guidelines on API design and answering some questions which occur in every API project like "How can we provide this operation and still being RESTful?" or "How should we version our API?" Besides an admirable API Design Testing, Documentation and Mocking are always sticking points, which I want to demystify by sharing my handy approach. With this talk I want to inspire you to apply some of these techniques in your next API project.
A brief history of eLearning as seen through the lens of my own personal experience. A look at current trends we're seeing that influence how we design and deliver online learning programs. Presented at ATD Tech Knowledge, January 14, 2016.
eLearning grew due to its potential to save costs through centralized content and logistics cost reductions. It helped companies improve performance while saving recurring costs. The global eLearning market grew significantly over the years, reaching $27.1 billion in 2009. However, the economic downturn threatened continued growth, as companies focused on cost-cutting. This led to a second wave of eLearning adoption to reduce training budgets in the short-term. In the future, demand is projected to continue growing at 12.8% annually, with Asia becoming the second largest market after North America by 2014.
PowerApps, the Developer Story: Build an API to Integrate Corporate DataBram de Jager
Microsoft released PowerApps to a selective audience as a private preview in November 2015. It’s a service for enterprises to connect data across clouds to create intelligent business apps faster than ever before and share them to any device. Besides addressing the business developer and power user, it also provides opportunities for developers. This enables enterprises to expose corporate internal sources to be used within PowerApps and unleash the power of PowerApps combined with internal data sources. This session goes into the details of the possibilities for developers to leverage the Azure App Services and build APIs to use within your PowerApps. Live demos cover building and managing the API which exposes the internal data within a PowerApp on your device.

Active learning (AL) is often used in corpus construction (CC) for selecting “informative” documents for annotation. This is ideal for focusing annotation efforts, but has the limitation that it is carried out in a closed-loop manner, selecting points that will improve an existing model. When there is no model, or the task(s) is even under-defined (such as studying corpora-less phenomena), use of traditional AL is inapplicable. To remedy this, we propose a novel method for model-free AL that focuses on utilising phenomena as desirable characteristics. We introduce a tool, MOVE, that helps iteratively visualise and refine these characteristics. We show its potential on a real world case-study of a corpus we are developing.

Justifying eLearning: ROI and Key MetricsEduson.tv
eLearning specialists constantly face a lot of “why” questions. Why is eLearning indispensable for the company? Why does it need special (and annually increasing) budget? Why can’t online courses be replaced with conventional mentoring or training? It isn’t always easy to prove the worth of eLearning.
The document discusses strategies for lifelong learning in a changing work environment. It states that to be successful in the next decade, individuals will need to demonstrate foresight in navigating changing skills requirements and continually reassess and update their skills. Workers will need to be adaptable lifelong learners. The document emphasizes the importance of continual learning.

What's Trending in Talent and Learning for 2016?Skillsoft
Skillsoft took a look at the top trends that will impact talent and learning efforts in 2016. For a number of reasons, it's a pivotal time for the HR industry to make its move. However, the landscape of work is changing fast and the most adept pace-setters will adapt to take advantage of the top trends. At the same time, companies need to be cautious of industry trends that may be overhyped. This infographic provides a balanced view of practices that will keep your talent and learning strategy moving in the right direction.

1) Découvrez comment l'inaction, c'est-à-dire le fait de ne pas agir ou d'agir alors qu'on le devrait ou qu'on est censé le faire, est un obstacle à une vie épanouie ;
> Comment l'inaction affecte-t-elle l'avenir du jeune ? Que devraient plutôt faire les jeunes pour se racheter et récupérer ce qui leur appartient ? A découvrir dans le document ;
