This document discusses microscopy techniques used to study microbial structures. It covers the history and development of the light microscope by Leeuwenhoek in the 17th century. It then describes various types of light microscopes (brightfield, darkfield, phase contrast, fluorescence) and how they work. The document also discusses electron microscopes, including transmission electron microscopes and scanning electron microscopes. It explains techniques for specimen preparation, staining, and fixation to visualize microorganisms using these various microscopic methods.
Incorporating Consumer Attitudes to Minimise Waste and Out-of-stock Situation...Emel Aktas
This document summarizes a presentation on incorporating consumer attitudes to minimize waste and out-of-stock situations in food retail. It discusses the background, motivation, methodology and preliminary results of a simulation study on perishable inventory management. The study examines the impact of factors like demand uncertainty, batch size, customer picking behavior and expiry date information on waste percentage and out-of-stock percentage. The preliminary findings show that out-of-stock is highly sensitive to demand uncertainty and lead time for highly perishable products. Tracking expiry dates can help reduce waste and out-of-stock. Future work includes experimenting with longer shelf lives and price discounts.
Experiment 1 examines the output of a full-wave rectifier circuit under varying conditions of temperature, frequency, and ideality factor. The maximum output voltage is observed to increase with decreasing ideality factor and increasing frequency. Higher temperatures are also found to decrease the output voltage. Part II analyzes the characteristics of an NMOS transistor by varying the gate-source voltage Vgs and drain-source voltage Vds. The transistor is observed to be in cutoff, linear, and saturation regions depending on the relative values of Vgs and Vds.
Carpool Effects on Air Quality in Los AngelesJikun Lian EIT
The document discusses how carpooling could help relieve traffic congestion and improve air quality in Los Angeles. It notes that Los Angeles has experienced heavy traffic congestion due to a 14% increase in vehicle traffic over the past 6 years. This congestion contributes significantly to air pollution through vehicle emissions. The document proposes that expanding carpool systems could help address these issues by reducing the number of vehicles on the road and vehicle emissions. It reviews how carpooling could decrease traffic and environmental impacts in Los Angeles.
This document provides an overview of transportation trends in China from 1980 to 2010. It discusses the rapid growth of China's population and economy during this period, which drove increasing demand for transportation. All major modes of transportation, including railways, highways, waterways and airports expanded significantly. However, this growth also caused environmental issues like air pollution and increased China's share of global energy use and carbon emissions. The document analyzes transportation and emissions data over this period and discusses the government's efforts to address problems and encourage more sustainable transportation.

This document summarizes several dynamic cache replication mechanisms: Victim Replication replicates cache lines evicted from the local cache to reduce access latency. Adaptive Selective Replication dynamically adjusts replication based on estimated costs and benefits. Adaptive Probability Replication replicates blocks based on predicted reuse probabilities. Dynamic Reusability-based Replication replicates blocks with high reuse. Locality-Aware Data Replication only replicates high-locality blocks to reduce misses while maintaining low replication overhead. The document provides details on these schemes and compares their approaches to dynamic cache block replication.
The document discusses how a carpool system could help improve air quality and reduce traffic congestion in Los Angeles. It first provides background on the current traffic and environmental issues in LA, noting heavy congestion and air pollution levels above national averages. The document then outlines a proposed research methodology to analyze how carpool implementation could reduce emissions and congestion costs over 30 years. Specifically, it would estimate emissions reductions in 2025 and 2030 by comparing rates with and without the projected number of carpool vehicles from increased adoption and riders per vehicle. Any reductions greater than carpool costs would indicate environmental and economic benefits.

1) Découvrez comment l'inaction, c'est-à-dire le fait de ne pas agir ou d'agir alors qu'on le devrait ou qu'on est censé le faire, est un obstacle à une vie épanouie ;
> Comment l'inaction affecte-t-elle l'avenir du jeune ? Que devraient plutôt faire les jeunes pour se racheter et récupérer ce qui leur appartient ? A découvrir dans le document ;
3. Trip to Czech Republic -
March 8-13, 2015
We (Juliette, Matilda, Marcello and Frankie) did a nice trip in
two planes of different sizes.
Michaela, coordinator of the Erasmus + project in the Czech
Republic , greeted us at the airport in Ostrava, accompanied
by her husband, and the school principal .
After 40 minutes drive, we arrived at the teachers'hotel.
The host families were waiting impatiently! After a few
presentations and group shots, everyone is out to discover a
new environment, for various activities.
Beautiful weather, smily faces, making pleasant
knowledge ...
Here is the summary of the first day!
We have had the joy of exploring on foot (not subway !!!) on the way to school,
under a radiant SUN!
What a pleasure to find such a beautiful school (green!), So spacious, so
modern, so well decorated and very welcoming.
And a sight awaited us:
Children of all ages sang us a beautiful Czech song, followed by a small
traditional dance and a play that we know so well; Cinderella!
Then the Czech pupils gave us a good musical and rhythmic moment,
involving some of our students!
Once received our badges and the speech of director completed, we
discovered with amazement the Czech pedagogy, through two lessons in
mathematics and English, amazing !!!
The day is not complete, sadly we had to leave the classroom to regain some
strength (to taste), and go to meet the mayor, all together.
How is a wedding ceremony ...?
The Mayor gave us a demonstration, with the help of some children at play
suitable Marcello ... Bravo!
After lunch in the canteen, we went on foot to the discovery of a cave to three
quarters of an hour of the city.
A nice walk along the river Becva Then, late in the afternoon, everyone
returned to his family home.
5. MARDI 10 MARS : 1, 2, 3... Let's go !
A break please!
We celebrated 10 years of Mathilde, with all the Erasmus + community!
Songs, cakes and gifts were waiting for you to start this sunny Tuesday ...
But the work was waiting for the workshop (workshop) proposed by the Czech
school.
An art teacher showed us a very famous artist Maurits Escher, who had fun creating
throughout his life optical illusions using mathematical rules.
We undertook to reproduce geometric shapes to create a work together ...
A break please!
After a little break, the morning could not end without an exceptional visit our school:
four high-tech computer labs, an interpretation room, two gyms, a few rooms used
for games in daycare and classrooms as we are used to seeing the primary.
In the afternoon, departure by bus towards Horka, discovering Land Art and artist
Frantisek Skala, renowned artist, who worked around the four elements of nature.
Then we participated in a giant barbecue, snake-like dough, all to taste of course
with a touch of sugar!
Excellent time which allowed us to take back some strength to go explore the city of
Olomouc, whose facades are gorgeous.
Winter days are short but intense, we had to find our beautiful town of Hranice to
drop the kids in the family home and allow teachers to meet all together!

7. Thursday 12th March : Party day in Hranice!!!
Only good times happen when we are together. A second interactive workshop lay ahead. There were beautiful
cameras on each of the tables – how amazin!
As an introduction we were then shown a few minutes of animated films that had been produced by the high
school students . This gave us a taste of what laid ahead : the creation of a film made from photos taken of an
animal in different positions in their natural environments. For our part we started by creating
an animal and then drew a background that we coloured in with pastel
crayons. Then, helped by a student we moved the animal into different
positions and and took photographs of it in different positions.
But the work did not stop there! We then moved into the IT department
to put together our animated film on the computer programme
‘Windows Movie Maker’. It was an interesting discovery of
this new technology – sounds, changing the speed of the film etc.
Nevertheless we needed to be
patient to be able to see the final results!
After lunch the big moment had arrived! We were now going to start
working on our Erasmus doll! The sewing, printing onto fabrics,
learning new skills – how wonderful!
And then finally Parise, our doll was dressed in a pretty patterned
skirt and a tshirt with an Erasmus logo.
A few minutes before our workshop on Parise there was a surprise –
the much anticipated projection of our six animated films!
But the party was not over yet as a fantastic ceremony was about
to start : the presentation of certificates for those involved in the
Erasmus project as well as presents for the Czech organisers –
who we also spoiled!
Then, there was a birthday celebration of two Greek twins
and we ate a wonderful birthday cake!.
No time to rest...it was time for the maths games...
At 17h we met all together in front of the school – the host families, the school team, students from the school and
the visiting students and teachers. We were presented with an fantastic Czech themed buffet.
FRIDAY 13th MARCH : Last day in teh Czech
Republic!!!
To end our stay the Czech team had organised a big
race within the school grounds. Each team had to do
maths games, different activities and mental calculation
tests within record times!!
The race over, we learnt that we had completed the race
in 106 minutes in 4th place! The Polish team won!
Congratulations to them!
After lunch it was time to leave.
We were driven to the airport in Ostrava.
We travelled from Ostrava to Prague and then Prague to
Paris! Our adventures were coming to an end.
Many thanks to the Czech team for such a wonderful
week full of amazing experiences!
