« Green and Clean » means 3 things : TMMF must be fully integrated in its environment. This has been made possible thanks to the deep foundation of the site and the moderate height of the building. As a result, no one driving along the highway can see the site In order to minimize the environmental impacts of its activities, Toyota has introduced a consolidated and integrated Environmental Management System based on the ISO 14001 standard. The environmental management system of TMMF was certified to the ISO 14001 standard on March 2002 and was recertified in March 2005. One simple evidence of a clean industrial site is the achievement on key indicators related to environment management.

We are also pursuing new ways to achieve sustainable manufacturing. Toyota has selected two of our manufacturing companies in France and the UK to serve as industry-leading prototypes for sustainable production. They will pilot new activities to demonstrate how best they can reduce their impact on the environment and work in harmony with their natural surroundings. For example, a trial has reduced CO 2 emissions at our UK paint booths by up to 25%, earning recognition from the European Commission. And moving forward, each plant will investigate the use of renewable energy, such as wind power, generated on-site. Toyota now has five “sustainable plants” across three continents, each serving as a best practice model for other plants. <CLICK>
